(2019) SG Armaan Franklin to IU

If he's talking about Bill Titus, I now know why he made that comment. Bill says a lot. Most of it tongue planted very firmly in cheek. -
(2019) SG Armaan Franklin to IU

They don't, but they wouldn't miss that far. Franklin's good, but saying he's the best he's ever seen is ridiculous unless he hasn't seen very many people. If his son was on the Indiana all stars with Oden and Conley, he's seen two high level NBA guys up close. Leave alone a Big East POY and 2nd round pick in Luke Harangody. He had to have seen Gordon, who was perhaps the best I've ever seen in high school (Jay Edwards being a very close second). There have been some incredible players around here the last 10-15 years.... I really like Franklin, but a kid ranked 150 isn't in the same class as kids in the top 5; and we've had a few of those. You're right....services miss from time to time. But not this badly. -

I've seen Franklin many times. He's not as good as Gordon. Nor as good as Oden or several others. Eric Gordon was a top 5 kid in the country. Oden was #1. Tell your buddy he's got some 'splainin' to do. -
There is no doubt in my mind that injuries have cost Indiana 2 more banners. 1975 and 1993. Indiana was easily the best team in the country both years. I had a conversation once w Bill Benner (who is a complete idiot and one of the most un-necessarily arrogant people I have ever met) who said Bob Knight won 3 titles and blew two more....which I found laughable. I countered he had the best team in the country and he said it didn't matter because Indiana didn't finish the deal. That guy is a bad representation of Indiana journalism all because Knight spilled coffee on him once. =)

This just in...the football stadium has a really big American flag. Good Lord. What has become of this athletic program?

He's really good, but this is a reach. Did your buddy see Eric Gordon in high school? Gary Harris? Trey Lyles? Zac Irvin? Trevon Blueitt? (the best comparison, I think) Kyle Guy? Is he old enough to have seen Greg Oden or Cody Zeller? Franklin's good, but best he's ever seen? Who has he seen? Serious question. -
The only even decent game we won without RP was against Illinois. We also beat Jacksonville. Give me a break. We weren't worse at Northwestern. At all. We are equally bad right now with or without Green. He helps nothing except as a warm body. I have no idea what you've been watching to think otherwise. Your arrogant condescension aside (yes, I do realize we beat Jacksonville and basically Central Arkansas without RP and with Green. How many people other than you....on the entire planet are impressed by that? Give me a damned break). You and I watch very different basketball games and if you'd rather Green make a bad play / force a shot, there's nothing I'm going to say that;s going to change your mind. We lost to Maryland and Nebraska with Green. To use your words...you do realize that, right? Good grief.
-
This is concerning for me, too. Opening the 2nd half, we are consistently getting beat. That's a definite problem.
-
It is, but I think it's salvagable with the right people. Won't be forever, that's for sure.
-
I'm most concerned about the long scoring droughts that seem consistent; and the fact that Indiana keeps coming out for the second half and getting blitzed. That's on Archie. And it's not shown any signs of improvement. Apart from the pack line defense, which hasn't exactly impressed lately, I'm really not sure what he brings that will fix this. Momentum swings and Indiana seems to just quit. That's also on Archie to some degree. He better figure it out, and pronto.
-
I would LOVE one of those two to be the coach here. Lewis in particular, but both have a lot to offer and add. If I were Glass, I'd tell Archie to hire both of them and pay them as much as any assistants in the country. Indiana has lost its culture; and it'll be gone forever unless something is done. We'll go the way of UCLA and become all but irrelevant....we're well on the way now. Yes.. I think they would be a fantastic start to fixing the problems
-
One would hope.
-
a 100% metamorphosis in the last 20 minutes..... I hope you're right.
-
Glass answers to McRobbie. If anyone is looking for someone to blame, McRobbie is your man. Well, and the board of trustees who apparently care only about east coast money and the .edu part of the University. They clearly couldn't care less about sports. They DO care some about sports facilities and making sure these precious little babies have the whirlpools they need and all feel accepted. And hey, I think everyone "embraces diversity" too. That's today's Indiana University.

When was I "complaining?" About Davis?? If I ever said a word about him it was a while ago; but go ahead and stay on me about "nitpicking.' And make this about me. And "mannerisms." Good grief what a complete joke. Step away.....for the love of God. 19,000 posts is enough.
-
Step away from the keyboard....just for a minute. Seriously. Why are you making this about me?? And when did I "nitpick?" We're all pissed off, but seriously...you're arguing mannerisms.
-
Wasn't talking about those two. Freshmen are freshmen
-
Mannerisms???? Seriously?? We're concerned about mannerisms????? I don't care one bit about "mannerisms." If that's how far we've fallen...shame on us. Wow. Mannerisms???? You have got to be kidding me.

I saw two weak, slow players who were out of position and can't come close to holding their own inside. What does "bringing energy" mean? I head that a lot. Forrester gave up 2 offensive rebounds and had 2 fouls in 2 minutes. Moore only had 2 points because he made FT's after getting fouled on a layup when he showed no explosion or strength at the rim. He also had 2 fouls in 2 minutes.
-
Anyone who wondered why Moore and Forrester weren't playing should have their answer. But damn....Indiana is depleted. Crean left almost nothing on this team. It's laughable how bad this team is and how down this program is. Makes me so damned sad. But...why does the ball stop moving? Why do we stop trying to get into transition? Same problem at Maryland. Same problem at Northwestern. And we get blown out AGAIN in the first part of the second half. THAT is on Archie and very alarming.
-
You said the other person playing would automatically be McRoberts and made it a debate between the two. It's not, necessarily. If it were, I agree with you. I don't happen to believe we either play Green or McRoberts
-
Not sure exactly what you're saying, but Green has been here for almost 3 full seasons. Anyone hoping he "could be" something he's not should have enough evidence to know he is what he is.
-
Why? because we've lost 6 in a row and he played in many of them. We were bad before he went out. That's how. You can't compare how we were playing when we beat NW the first time to how we've played the last 2-3 weeks...can you? Seriously? Indiana lost....something when Phinisee went down. Their struggles lately have had zero to do with Green for better or worse. He has not helped, and the team is not hurt by his absence. He is a warm body, nothing more or less right now. I was at the Jacksonville game, and we even trailed early against THAT mess. My eye test has watched an awful lot of basketball over the years. I trust it without equivocation. And I understand people have some idea of what he "could" bring, but what of the almost 3 years of evidence we have that says what he IS? It's like you (same "you" as you indicate) create this fabricated player that has never existed. Yes...he's better than McRoberts. I suspect you would be too. You either see his ill timed and forced shots or you don't. You either see him leave his feet with no choice but to throw the ball at the rim or you don't. But please don't insult my intelligence or that of others by creating a player that Green just isn't. And don't use words like "never." It's pointless. As is the "water finds its level" statement. You really think Green should be a volume 3 point shooter? Just keep shooting and they'll eventually go in? Are you talking about the organic shots within the offense or the ones he forces? That's the difference, and like I said, you understand that or you don't. I don't care at all what he COULD bring. He hasn't. For 3 years. There was former publication called "Inside Indiana." Every year, they used phrases like "just might," or "if ________, then we COULD _________." If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
