This is interesting. The usual suspects are at the top of the list. For anyone who doesn't think Indiana is in this class anymore, check this list out. Interest in Indiana Basketball is still at the very top of the list and Indiana is among the nation's obvious blue bloods. Not that social media followers means anything....it doesn't, but a program isn't second on this list if it's Joe Schmoe. Archie needs to get this figured out. He is not the head coach of just any program. It is, in fact, Indiana - unlike other programs. And that does matter. Discuss.

There is a big difference between playing well and making a couple of plays. Green got beat time and time again yesterday and he quit defensively on a couple of other occasions. The win had at least as much to do with MSU's failures as it did our successes. Believe me, I'll take it; but I don't feel like going overboard giving credit to Green or anyone else defensively. Romeo was horrible again at times as well. Watch the game again....objectively. Green did not play well.

Man, I whiffed that. Not to speculate, but Rob was a complete non factor yesterday. Had a good game against NW, but pretty pedestrian since his concussion. It truly didn't look like a serious hit, but it was to the temple... We need all hands on deck.... hope he snaps out of it.

No! I didn't see that. When did it happen??

=) I've been accused of far worse. Lord knows what avvy's have been applied to me over time. I happen to see the state of IU exactly as he does and for the same reasons. I know why Sampson was hired. I know we passed on Urban Meyer in favor of Gerry DiNardo. It was idiotic. He has said it was idiotic. Same with hiring Mike Davis without doing a search. Same with avoiding IU guys altogether. Same with the "kumbaya" state of things and the complete indifference of Michael McRobbie and his band of yes men. All of that stuff, as far as I know is absolutely accurate and I hate it as much as he does. -

Since I've been hard on the kid, I'll respond to this. Green made some timely and much needed shots yesterday. No doubt about it. Brass nuggets and those plays were needed. He also made a couple of nice passes and had 5 assists. (Albeit on 2-3 we finally made jumpers or he and the rest of the team would ALL have more than they do) He also quit on defense several times, had 4 turnovers - including the one late in regulation that could easily have cost the opportunity to win, and took a couple of bad shots. While it's true we don't win without him, it's also true we don't win if MSU doesn't miss 14 FT's. It's also true we don't win for several other reasons. Since he is one of our limited options, yes....we "need" him; but I don't want to confuse that with "he played well." He didn't. In fact, when the team watches film, his defense will be embarrassing. There's something off w Phinisee. He's a different player than he was in December. He was ready for Marquette, Louisville, and Butler and played great against Penn State. I think it's something different than he's not ready for the Big Ten. Something's just off.

Curious as to my "recruiting stance." What about "I think - because I also think there's a reason Indiana is a targeted state around the country due to youth basketball, how the game is taught, and the passion we have for it here - Indiana should recruit from the inside out" is outrageous? Serious question. (Or are you referring to something different?) That is absolutely my stance; and I don't think it's outrageous at all. I believe in it strongly and I'll continue to do so. But outrageous? I would disagree. Yes. This is a damned message board, which in itself is very unimportant; so I would disagree that I think I'm important (at least here. Nobody is). The stalker label comes when guys make things about me. Started on the football board when one guy posted something like 12 straight posts in response to mine over a 3-4 day window. All of them strongly disagreeing and several personal. Like he was following me around just to attack me when I posted. Just a moniker. No big deal. There may be two Josh's. One guy for years followed me around and slammed me every chance he got. If the current Josh is a different "Josh" - possible, and I have acknowledged and apologized, then mea culpa. I'll extend an olive branch to you as well. You acknowledge all I'm here to do is talk IU and I'm going to do so with positions that aren't always popular or mainstream - that is intentional because I don't see things the way others do; and I'll leave you be just the same. Worry about how treat you. Not everyone else. You do you. And we'll get along just fine. You've been around here way too long. And....we all, including Dakich want the same thing. -

I agreed it was perhaps overdone. I just don't think the initial "little Archie" was made with malice. I think it was in response to something else. My real point is his style is with intent and the intent works. I also think he's exactly right as it relates to the state of Indiana University and it's board of trustees. That's truly all I'm trying to say here. The explosion has been interesting. As have the claims. Amazing what riles people up. -

And yet..you keep responding. Why do you suppose that is? Keep pointing fingers.... I have followed no one. No one worth following. (I think you're claiming other boards have closed because of me, which is false....completely false. One went down in part because a guy gave out my personal information, which is against the law; but I digress. That's a long story that ironically involves someone who actually went on a radio show and claimed how important HE was.) For the most part, I just talk IU sports, same as you. I see things differently than you do and it's not always popular. So what? The "stalkers" are the ones who make it about me rather than just talking about the games, the team, the situation, whatever. My perspective on those things is sometimes very different than the mainstream, and it's THEN things get personal. Like now. It's THEN that other people make it about me. At that point, they're stalkers. I love disagreement. Debate. When it's done civilly, it's a terrific exercise. But when things are said which are erroneous and nothing but personal, things change. For example, what outrageous claim have I made? Give me one example. A single "outrageous" claim. (If I continuously do it, this should be easy) You're now making claims about me. YOU are making it about me. All I'm doing is giving a different perspective about a radio personality who happens to be an IU alum. It's not a popular position. It's not what many people think or are willing to say. At the end of the day, I'm not someone to get in line and agree with things I either know to be untrue or incomplete. That style rubs some the wrong way. Obviously you. And I'm fine with that. -

Laughing. Get over yourself. Seriously. Your profane tirade wasn't even aimed at me. And now we turn to insults? Speaking of "weak." That would be an attempt to make words hurt, right? You've been around way too long to have posted the way you did the other night which is why I said you should back away for a while. You elected not to.... Do I think I'm "important?" I'm not the one who constantly makes things about me. Think about that for a second. And you've posted here over 12,000 times... Who's the one worried about "important?" -

There are a lot of people who tell me things like they're facts. If I cared, I wouldn't be here. Did I go on a profane tirade the other night? Oh wait....that was you. Hearing what I want to hear and not giving a damn are different things. Edit : And much like Dakich's show...people keep reading and responding. It's actually kinda' fun. Lots of guys get all worked up - same as they do about Dakich, and the replies just keep on comin'. Especially from the same guys. It's a neat experiment. -

Okay. And? Why DOES Archie get a free pass? Like I have said several times....his style's not for everyone. I get that. I just pointed out that the guy has a pretty damned successful show; he's wildly popular with IU fans, and his ratings are growing. There's a reason. -

So what? Same reference. (And for what it's worth, I listen at least 3x/week and I've never heard it. Not once. Truth. So it's not as if it's an all the time thing. I'm interested why that's such an issue?) -

Completely your prerogative. I've got a different perspective. I've heard him compliment Archie enough to believe he doesn't have some personal vendetta against him; and I know him personally (and a couple of his close friends) to know he's not close to the person he's painted as here. I also agree with him enough that I hear what he says differently than some do. -

It wasn't "definitely." See edit above. It was a reference to something else. Overdone, maybe. But not at all a definite shot. In your perspective? Perhaps. Not necessarily "definite" though. -

I took it as a relationship to his boss "Big Glass." The "Big Glass" wasn't referenced during Crean's tenure. To me? Some people are looking for reasons to be critical; frequently not understanding the reasons or the whole story. It was only "very obvious" if you didn't in this case. If you did know, it's not quite so obvious and at the very least, open to interpretation. There are always 2 sides to a story. Just perspective. Edit : Here's Guyton's tweet : Well, Big Glass, you made the move. We’ll see if he can do better than 10th in the Big 10 his first time out. (Can’t do worst than Crean’s first three years at Bloomington, anyway.) -

Or maybe you and those who gave you trophies need thicker skin? Maybe. I don't think about the way I post. That's for you. I don't care one bit what you think about it. Not some. There are...10-12 guys maybe who seem to take issue with what I say, and it's as predictable as the sunrise. Yet they generally reply. They generally snark right back (see your post above). And they generally exaggerate (see your post above). In this case, I'm Dakich, you're the listener who can't turn the show off. I'm not profane and only personal when I give it back. So what's your real problem? And yeah..YOUR problem, since we're YELLING at each other. So okay..."LITERALLY" every post. You know what "literally" means, so..find me the snark in these (just from yesterday). I'll hang up and listen : * FWIW, he got off the bus, lifted his bag with his left arm and said "it's all good" when someone asked him. I, Tim Garl, was behind him and had been treating him the entire flight home. * Team win. Complete team win. For every negative there was at least one positive and we out rebounded MSU by 8 in their building. Lots to work on and much to improve; but there's no reason to go negative tonight. Great and much needed win even with lots left to improve and correct. Props to Smith and Davis for their performance on the boards. That was key. Smith 13 points, 10 boards, 3 blocks. 'Atta' boy. * I'd like to see that. And heck yes he baits people to respond. That's what he's paid to do. That helps numbers....and it's my point. I doubt he really buys into a lot of the things he says that are ridiculous. * Not sure if it was a separation or a dislocation, but he couldn't raise his arm. That he was in uniform and part of the post game scrum is a positive sign * Yeah, I hope not. There are better braces now. * Laughing. I saw it. And yep. I just shook my head again. Yeah..MSU was down too many bodies. Indiana would know nothing of that, would they?? =) * He's incorrect with some of his predictions....everyone is. But as it relates to where things are relative to Indiana University and the department of athletics....which is what I was referring to? He ain't wrong. * Ever read "Getting Open." by Rachel and Tom Graham? Highly recommended if you haven't. Tells the whole story and how involved Herman B. Wells was. Edit : Here's the Amazon link. Seriously worth the read and the $12 bucks if you buy it used. https://www.amazon.com/Getting-Open-Story-Garrett-Integrat/dp/1451643179 EVERY POST, I tell you. LITERALLY!!! Grow up. -

I have not heard the things he says as pot shots or under the belt blows. What I HAVE heard are hard truths on occasion; and I don't have a problem with that. You certainly have the right to take issue. I just don't because I think he's absolutely right and I've never heard him be unfair. -

I know he's done it a couple of times referring to Indiana's decision to avoid even interviewing Knight guys for the head coaching position and others not honoring people or teams that deserve it (never Knight himself). I have never once (and I listen a lot because I'm in the car a lot) heard him say anything about Indiana that wasn't generally true or accurate at the time. Maybe I see things the way he sees them and many here don't. That's very possible. But I have not one single time found him to be "eating his own." I've found him refreshingly critical and extremely truthful. His takes this week about Pat Shoulders and the Board of Trustees was square on the head of the nail, for example. Not popular and not what people would ever want to hear; but there are reasons we've been where we have for the last 20 years and he just points them out. Same as he called Clarence Doninger and his BOT idiotic for hiring Gerry DiNardo when Urban Meyer wanted to interview. "we have our man," he was told. "Okay..." he said. But looking out for IU, he knew Meyer (who was the head coach at BGSU at the time) was an up and coming star... Sometimes, coaches know. He knew. And he rips IU for it. True stories don't always equal "eating your own." You know as well as I do NOBODY wants inside scoop more than Indiana fans. He gives it to them in doses and just gets killed for it. Which is the part I don't get. Truth really hurts some people.
