Thats all good and fun but it isn't good enough. I feel your expectations and standards for what IU should be are too low. We need to be a consistent contender for a national championship (ala Duke, UNC, UK, KU, etc). With Crean at the helm, what have you seen, other than one "great" year, that tells you he has what it takes to get us there?
-
The problem with a lot of the Crean supporters is they keep using the B1G Championship season with Cody and Vic as a selling point. Yes, we won the B1G (barely tho. We almost choked it away by not beating OSU on our home floor on senior night). Other than that, the season, at least in my eyes, was a massive disappointment. The #1 seed was cool and all but we clearly were not worthy of it. We barely squeaked by Temple only to get washed by Syracuse in the S16. Underachieving, mediocre basketball with Crean not knowing how to utilize our 5-star big man Cody Zeller. What makes you Crean supports think it will be different if we get a big for next year? What has Crean shown you?

I think Crean is a great guy and I would absolutely love to have a beer with the man and talk basketball but sorry, he just hasn't shown me anything to believe he's the right guy to take us where we want to go. He had a great team, full of talent and couldn't get out of the S16. His in game coaching, lack of adjustments, insane substitution patterns and failure to focus on defense are too much to tolerate anymore. That combined with the end of year cleanings are starting to make our program look bad. IU deserves better. He deserves to go out to a standing-o for what he did for our program but enough is enough. Its time for a change

Glass will just use the fact that they went pro as an excuse and say you can't blame Crean for that and then give Crean another extension followed by a banner and S16 rings. Kidding, Kidding. But not really
-
Crean has shown us nothing to believe he will. Its sad but getting Bryant may be bad for IU in the long run. Same goes for Thon. I see us being very competitive in the B1G (probably not winning tho) only to flame out in the S16 to an inferior team. This will be enough for Fred to retain Crean and knowing Fred, maying give him an extension. Really hope Crean proves me wrong tho.
-
Agreed. If it were a guarantee Crean was coming back, Glass would've just said he'll be our coach next year.
-
Agreed. HE may support Crean but the fan base doesn't. Fred, what have you seen from him that makes you think he can hang a banner?

Lots a rumors going around about Calipari and the NBA. I personally don't believe he'd leave UK but after watching ESPN it seems there are many out there that think if the right job opened up with the chance to win a title immediately and he wins it all this year, he'd jump all over it. Given this, I pose the following question to BtownBanners Would you rather Cal go undefeated and win it all this year followed by a departure to the NBA? ORRRR Cal lose in the tourney this year and stay in the college game?
-
Whether it was his decision to leave or not, our program is becoming laughable in the eyes of the college basketball world. Multiple transfers at year end are becoming a guarantee at IU. This is no way to build a consistent winning program. Crean in not Calipari. He can't keep replacing players. Needs to be taken care of.

dang, gona be a goooooood finish

agreed. lets make this happen

My thoughts exactly. I don't put too much into it. Especially the part on Stevens. Have a hard time believing he'd tell IU he isn't happy in Boston but doesn't want to exit his contract

It's so incredibly disappointing to to see programs like Alabama swinging for the fences, trying to bring in the best coach they can while we continue to settle for mediocrity. We truly aren't a blue blood program anymore. Our administration seems to be fine with average basketball.
-
The problem with everyone saying we get a solid big man and we're good implies Crean actually knows how to and will utilize him. We had one of the best big men a couple years ago in Cody and Crean barely used him. Why would next year be any different? The real problem Glass faces is the fan base. Crean has already lost a large majority of us. As sad as it may be and as much as you may not like it, Assembly Hall is going to have some empty seats next year if Crean is still our coach. Long term speaking, Glass seriously needs to consider a change. What has he seen from Crean that shows him he's seriously capable of hanging banner 6?

James isn't even close to being ready for the NBA. He'd be way better off staying
