Apologies - wasn't attacking your information at all. Appreciate the info. It's just crazy how many "insiders" are coming out all of a sudden.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH I have a friend who knows the Beard family....he said the opposite. See how easy it is to spew nonsense on the internet? I'm convinced no one knows a damn thing
-
If Calbert....ugh. This is a "hey it's worked for Michigan, it'll work for us too" move (if true). Yikes.
-
Still think it'll be Chris Beard or Beilein. We haven't heard a thing regarding Beard and in my experience with these things, it never ends up being any of the guys we hope/talk about all day. Scott told us from day 1 this thing is going to be tight lipped and I think he's doing a great job at that. "Insiders" have no freaking clue and neither does the media. Now that I just mentioned Beard...it won't be him either. Bring on Beilein.

thx for coming out Belmont! -
I'm with you on this. Our coach next year will either be Chris Beard or John Beilein. Just guessing, don't ask me how I know - I don't.

What are the qualifications to be IU coach
mdiu28 replied to HoosierBoiler's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Proven winner, recruiter, and able to get along with the fanbase, beats PU, beats Rutgers. Archie was pitiful at all. -
You might be right but the undeniable fact is he's still an assistant coach and is not to our knowledge ever in the conversation for a hc job at a school like IU. But hey - he went to IU so let's take a chance, right? I just don't understand that logic. I'd rather Dolson risk overpaying a proven coach to get him here than hiring a coach with no experience.
-
You're absolutely right. If we go that route, Woodson would be #1 on my list.
-
Of course no one knows who will or won't be successful. If someone does, PM me please - I'd love some powerball numbers. The issue with the whole IU guy conversation is it isn't rational. The ONLY reason those guys are being talked about is because they went to IU. That isn't enough to be the head coach here - especially when you have zero head coaching experience. It would be a risk and right now, we need to hire someone who will give us the best chance at winning and the argument for an IU guy (given the current IU guys in the convo) is just so, so weak. Why isn't Calbert, Woodson, Fife, etc being considered for other big time jobs? Probably because outside of IU fans, no one knows who they are. I do not understand why people think their mediocre coaching record (if they even have one as a HC) will all of a sudden change when they get back to Bloomington. Like there's some mystical force in the Bloomington air that only IU grads can feel. I want a coach that can coach and has proven it. That's what we need, that's what we all should want, that's what we all deserve. Stop giving people chances and relying on hope. There are proven HCs out there. You want to know how you get out of the ditch our program is in - stop digging.

My guess is Beilein or Dolson shocks us with Chris Beard since there hasn't been really any chatter on him. Dolson said from the beginning it's going to be quiet. I don't think he goes the Woodson, Cheaney, Fife route. It's going to be someone we haven't really heard anything substantial on.
-
Can we just hire Beilein already? Seems like he's the choice if all tournament coaches have no interest.
-
Must be one heck of a real estate agent. Dang.
-
Assuming everyone still coaching or just stopped (Beard, Bennett) has said no, I agree.
-
Beilein with either Lewis or Fife in waiting - I can get on board with that. Beilein can coach, fellas. I know his age isn't ideal but think of him as a bridge between the toilet our program is now and a top tier program - he'll get us there or incredibly close. Then he can fart off and Fife or Lewis can take over.
-
I'm sure it's getting denied for Thad's sake. If I'm Thad Matta and looking to get a job, and see a report of a failed physical - I'm PISSED. Destroys any chance of anyone hiring him. If we did interview him a physical would obviously have been necessary.
-
Gonzaga, Baylor, and Oregon have looked incredible
-
Doofus puts it lightly. He just changes his mind on who our coach should be based on the general sentiment to get clicks and look like he's relevant.
-
Gotcha. I'm fine with him being considered but if he's a serious contender (top 2), we have problems.
-
You missed the point.
-
If Woodson didn't go to IU, would the Woodson defenders still want him? NO. We wouldn't even be talking about him. Why isn't he in the conversation for other college jobs if he's so great?
-
I love Tony Bennett....bring it, LCS

Iowa.....woof

1. Nope. No idea. 2. Yes. I'm basing the list based off of what I've seen here. I don't think anyone outside of Dolson really has a freaking clue. I also don't believe the IU job is what some think it is here. I've thought this for years. Nothing has changed since, well, we've been a pretty mediocre program since we flamed out in the S16 vs. Cuse w/ Crean. At a certain point our history is just that - history. Kids don't give a **** about our banners.
