(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
moyemayhem replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not sure, but at least it’s coming from McRite. If his name was McWrong I’d be a little more skeptical. -
Another great example was this guy... He won 3 MVPs, and then saw McGwire and Sosa break the Home Run record. He knew he was twice the player they were, and just couldn’t sit back and watch those seasons go unanswered.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I think it’s funny how many recruiting “theories” are going to be proven right or wrong by this decision. The BtownBanners theorists may get their predictions right, but that doesn’t necessarily make there version of the events that led to the decision right. I am seeing much more conjecture than evidence being thrown around. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

This post should be re-purposed for all potential recruits when they visit other campuses. Just switch out a few names and we'll be set. It could also be used when said recruits visit Bloomington as well, as some fans tend to get there hopes up too much every time we see the inevitable positive post-visit interview. -

I expected him to visit Vandy and talk to Self before this was all over. This is what the recruiting process looks like. The freak outs over unsurprising news is hilarious. -
(2019) PG DJ Carton to Ohio State
moyemayhem replied to KDB's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
A buddy of mine at work is from Bettendorf and knows their high school coach. He said it's still very early in this recruitment, but at this point Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Missouri have been after him and have his interest, while his Mom seems to like Marquette. There is an expectation that some bigger programs (Kansas and Indiana) will jump into the fray and have an impact as his recruitment progresses. It appears we've made a good early impression, but it's still very early in the process. -

Everyone knows that the correct response from a good kid to any prospective fans prior to deciding on a college is to cease social media activity, remove any expression from your face, and stare directly at the ground. Only a heartless sociopath would acknowledge their presence or have a smile on their face. -
Victor has been amazing for the Pacers, and he has been my favorite Pacer to watch since the days of Reggie. With that said he is neither the best player in the league or the most valuable player in the league, and I don't think it's that close on either.

Should IU offer a "Sham" Academic Department in order to remain competitive for recruits?
moyemayhem replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think sometimes people forget on these forums that the primary mission at universities is academic and not athletic. IU’s operating budget is around $3.5 billion, and it’s athletic budget only makes up about $100 million of that. You don’t jeopardize the university’s academic reputation for its athletics. It doesn’t make sense logically, ethically, or economically. -
I found this leaked photo of the FBI's lead investigators in the case...

Only one company is on the cutting edge of both shoe technology and fashion, and has some nice crimson in their kicks to match our jerseys...

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy

Good point... our pretty girls will show up free of charge. -
Archie Miller's staff at Indiana will be Bruiser Flint, Tom Ostrom (Dayton) and Ed Schilling (UCLA),
moyemayhem replied to opiej's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Flint was a perfect hire for Archie. I'm pretty sure you couldn't find more than a couple assistant coaches at the college level that could match his D1 head coaching experience. The timing worked out well, and we were extremely lucky to have been able to land him. -
2018 General Recruiting Thread

It's a little ironic since 2010 was probably our most productive class on a per player basis (Oladipo and Sheehey). Every other class had some duds... And I'm NOT trying to make this an argument on the value of rankings [emoji48]. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
2017 July Evaluation Period
moyemayhem replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum

It sounds like 3-point defense will be the biggest challenge with the pack line. I don't think perimeter passing should cause too many problems, simply because by sagging off the offensive player when they don't have the ball, an alert defender can hedge more effectively and decrease the opportunity for off the ball movement and screens to create large separation and easy shots. However, I do think drive and kicks will cause problems for this defense, because the pack line encourages opposition players to dribble into the teeth of the defense in the paint, which will often require help defenders from the perimeter and provide opportunities for good spot up shooters. I agree with Stuhoo that this defense will be less physically demanding, but at the same time it will likely require a higher level of mental awareness. I also think disciplined defensive recovery and close outs will need to be an emphasis for our players.

2017 July Evaluation Period
moyemayhem replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This is pure speculation, but since this is a no contact period perhaps Archie thinks it would be a bit more meaningful to Henry to hold off and make the offer in person. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
2018 General Recruiting Thread

This is a possibility, but a more disciplined coach at a school like IU probably should have known that this just isn't a guy that we should be offering. -
If college basketball programs were countries
moyemayhem replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Last I checked, both IU and France have brought in new, young, and refreshing leaders in the last several months to reinvigorate our respective nations. I'd say the description is still spot on. -
I think people are reading too much into the "lack of faith" in our guards angle. We have an open scholly, and this guy would likely be a legit 4 star recruit if he was born in the US. I have a feeling that Archie sees an opportunity to add a very talented building block to our roster, and would be looking to add someone of Moretti's caliber regardless of position. Not to mention that two of our five guards are seniors.

Is this weird to anyone else?

Is that a Diet Pepsi? That's a little concerning. Everyone knows Tom is a Diet Coke kind of guy. -

IU paid Parker Executive Search $90,000 in school’s hiring process
moyemayhem replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Anyone complaining about this has no concept of the due diligence necessary when a state institution pays $23 million to hire someone to a highly scrutinized and very public job opening. Honestly, for $90k it sounds like we got off pretty cheap.
