    2016-2017 Indiana Basketball

Clemson at Minnesota Wake Forest at Rutgers No. 4 Maryland at No. 2 North Carolina No. 5 Virginia at Ohio State Michigan at NC State Purdue at Pittsburgh Northwestern at Virginia Tech Miami (Fla.) at Nebraska No. 14 Indiana at No. 7 Duke No. 21 Louisville at No. 12 Michigan State No. 13 Notre Dame at Illinois No. 25 Wisconsin at Syracuse Florida State at Iowa Penn State at Boston College   Those are last year's match-ups, so ACC teams who will play on the road this year are: Boston College, Syracuse, Duke, VT, Pitt, NC State, and UNC.   Of those, UNC, Duke, and Notre Dame are the only teams projected to be in the top 6 of the ACC. We played Duke last year, so that's likely out. Ditto Notre Dame (who they avoid scheduling us with anyway due to the Crosstown Classic). That leaves UNC.   Otherwise, they'll have to force a team to play on the road two years in a row, pair us with a bottom-half ACC team, or play us against a team we played last year.

    2016-2017 Indiana Basketball

ACC opponent will be roughly determined by where we finish in the Big Ten right? So, no worse than Duke and more likely UNC or U Miami. Risk of UNC is if sanctions are handed down over the summer and they end up significantly weaker.   Wait, is it? How did we end up with Duke this year? They were top of the ACC.
  3. This depends on how RoJo feels of course, but assuming he is capable of playing very limited minutes but not ready to play full games...   I would start him tomorrow night and make sure it's public he is starting, pull him at the first substitution opportunity. Possibly play him some additional minutes, including starting the second half.   There is a mental factor for our competition if they do not know what is coming for a player. Iowa will prepare differently for the different teams and Maryland will prepare based on what happens at Iowa in part. By making it a complete uncertainty if RoJo will be playing and how many minutes he will be playing, these teams are placed at a disadvantage and we gain a small amount of leverage on them.   This is amplified in Iowa's case since extraplanning means extrapreparing and they're already tired.

Darius Latham Declares for NFL Draft

Though I think it would be best in that case to expand the combine some so that currently fringe seniors aren't bumped out, I agree this plan makes much more sense in football's play-3 system than in basketballs play-1.

... the reason behind the 2002 run was to trick us into hiring Davis? Who was behind this dastardly plan?

Wait. You think Penn State has played better throughout it's conference season than Indiana has? Or they played better than Indiana in a single game?
  8. Considering they have nearly every single starter graduating, this is going to be quite the senior night for them. I think we have the advantage because of rest if nothing else, but these kids are going to be fired up for a very "end-of-an-era" senior night.
  9. Updated numbers after Hawk's Sunday loss. Not too much change though, these late season numbers are hard to move.   [attachment=3522:4.PNG] [attachment=3523:post-4434-0-79856600-1453126987.png]

Do we know Priller's graduation track? Might he graduate in 3 and willingly forgo his remaining eligibility to like live his life? I've made it clear I wouldn't, but Priller is much cooler than I am

http://www.nfl.com/combine/tracker#day=fullresults   To follow all the results.   Though, oh my gosh their system is stupid broken. If the number starts with a "1" it is smaller than if it starts with a "9" in all cases. Including for a 115 inch broad jump result v. 88 inches.

    B1G Tourney Opponents...

So, a team can go 18-0 in the ACC, face an 0-18 team who won their tourney, and lose in the first round making the regular season meaningless?   It's just a different structure. We are in a top conference which benefits us in a lot of ways and costs us in a lot of ways. One way it benefits us is the BTT is not necessarily determinative for the Tourney. So, during the year, we play for seeding in March. Each game has meaning in that it changes where we sit on the brackets.   Stephen F. Austin is in a smaller conference. They likely could move to a larger conference if they wanted to, but right now the cost to them is too high. So, when they play the regular season, they are playing for seeding in the conference season which may lead to a bid. Stephen F. Austin gets to play the 4 seed at worst prior to the championship game. That's an advantage given to them by their regular season play.   It's not meaningless to go 18-0 and get a 1 seed in a conference tournament (even if you lose) anymore than it is meaningless to go 32-0 and get a 1 seed in the Tourney (even if you lose). It's just a different perspective. Coming from a school with a basketball tradition, we don't hang banners for conference tourney championships, but if you look in the rafters at Stephen F. Austin you'll see a banner with "2014 2015 Southland Conference Tournament Champions" on it because it has meaning to them and the game is important to them.   The P5 are the ones with the messed up tournament system, not everyone else.   Edit: And in 2013, did Stephen F. Austin deserve to be in the Tourney more than Northwestern State because they only lost twice in conference and NW State lost three times? Doesn't the opportunity to Northwestern State to come in as a 2-seed in the Southland Tourney and beat Stephen F. Austin mean anything?   I'm a Lumberjacks fan for almost no reason, that's why I focus on Stephen F. Austin.

    B1G Tourney Opponents...

Bryan, I meant DC too, my mother is in Rockville.     You're fighting for seeding in the conference tourney to have a better shot at the automatic bid. Similar to teams in larger conferences fighting for seeding in the Tourney. Stephen F. Austin will be a 1 seed and get a double-bye. From there they can show they are good enough in tournament situations to earn a spot at the big dance. Who cares if a team wins by half-a-game and then loses in the first round of their tourney? Looks like they can't quite handle neutral court games. If they want to earn a spot the same way power teams do, schedule a non-conference full of top RPI wins to make up for your sub-200 conference season.   And how does your version handle ties? Complicated tie-breakers? Is that better? The regular season just isn't the be-all-end-all for the teams, that doesn't make it meaningless. If Abilene hits a buzzer beater at the last second to beat Stephen F. Austin in the championship game and win the automatic bid it's no more meaningless than if Monmouth beats Duke in the first round of the Tourney. That's the excitement of a single-elimination tournament, the best team doesn't always win.

That's what I meant. It's still really early here.
  20. I thought it meant you did not have participate in tryouts. He just knew he had a spot on the team coming in (as opposed to like, Burton, who went through tryouts).   I extra think that because don't we only have 12 scholarship players? Yogi, JBJ, Rojo, Troy, OG, Juwan, Max, TB, Priller, Z3, Hartman, and Newkirk? Then Tharp, Niego, Taylor, and Burton walking on?
  21. I would prefer both. Cool with me if PU and OSU lock us in for the title and then we run the table to show we would have won it anyway. I can stand winning by more than 2 games.

Ah, so I got 2016 right, just had it on the wrong side of the hyphen.   And I'll be bringing a whole crew to stay with my mother, whoop whoop! The friend who lives in Chicago is still in too small of an apartment to host us this year, so we all have Houston blocked out instead.    Plus, going to watch Indiana in the BTT is always a disappointment.

I would rather play Wiscy than MSU, but we are playing one of them for almost certain I think if we don't drop the next two. We will end up the 1 seed in that case and they are both vying for the 4 seed. So, unless they are knocked off by whomever plays them on Friday (or we are) we will see them on Saturday.   Also, I thought 2016 was DC's year to host the BTT? What ever happened to that?

Analysis: One step closer to a B1G title

Psh, Lunardi is no Andy Bottoms.   The Iowa game is going to be wild, if we can roll like the second half today we can beat anyone anywhere. I hope RoJo can come back for Iowa, he shines against Iowa.
