BTN2GO and stare at it the entire time. Duh. -
If it translates to wins, I don't think there is a banned substances list for coaches.

We better win with these turnovers. They're messing up my Pick'ems. And I was cruisin' in 48th place! -

I don't think you're going to make it to the Buckeye's fourth possession. -

Yes. I was being facetious. People like Coleman get screwed by being here. -

Good start. Glad we deferred, we only lost like a minute of playtime. -
Revised Season Expectations
MartintheMopMan replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Oh my gosh. I ignored this thread since it started because I thought we couldn't revise season expectations until playing SMU but this has been GOLD in terms of watching pure insanity. I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED ALL OF THIS! Hova, you're in charge, next time message me if there's some awesome drama and I haven't made fun of anyone. -
Larry Brown on Tom Crean

Way to not be up to date on your late 00s head coach controversies. Larry Brown got the Stanford head coaching job in '08 and then backed out. Here's an article about it! http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2008/07/16/larry-brown-on-the-record-about-the-stanford-job-i-was-going-to-stanford/ -

Seriously. 67% is just shooting around the gym. I just thought having all the numbers would be helpful. -

They'll just shrink the hoop to be a little smaller than the ball. Like at a carnival. Mark it. -
Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..
MartintheMopMan replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree. Would Crean have said "Yo' dawgs! These boys been smokin' the reefer!" to explain them sitting? No. No program handles failed drug tests that way. He would have said "lack of focus" or something like that, everyone would have known what he really meant, and we would have moved on. That's how schools deal with these things, not through people leaking them of their own accord. -
Iowa lost it with that turnover. But, 'cuse looks terrible. Even if they manage to close this. They're out of the rankings and they're going to have a LONG season.
-
SMU beat them by like 40 right? I doubt they'll put up a big fight.
-
For the most part I agree. It's not something that should ever practically be an issue. But, I'd like to point out, that you can still be better than half the players on the floor and not good enough for the NBA. That's why foreign leagues exist. Plus, isn't Preston kind of showing that you can be good at another sport and just play there? Older players are leaders and often stronger players. It's no secret, nor is it always true. But, the maturity of a 27-year-old player who was overseas level good as a Freshman on our team last year could have made a huge difference for example.
-
Military I could see granting an exception for, mostly because... it's the military. People are just different between age 18 and age 27. 27-year-old Frank Gore could run circles around 18-year-old Frank Gore. With time and maturity a lot of people improve. And, if you're allowed to play pro for a different sport in between, it's not like you can even say "well, they're giving up their future career by doing so".
-
I'm still confused. I looked at the NCAA eligibility rules and I get how you can play pro for a different sport than you're going to compete in. But, by delaying to play organized sports at all you "Must enroll full time at a college or university during the first regular academic term, which occurs following the one-year period after high school graduation or will lose one season of intercollegiate competition for each calendar year during which you continue to participate in organized competition." So, he had a 1 year grace period, but then over the next 7 years he should have given up 7 seasons of play. Even if not, it doesn't make sense for the reasons people talk about him at all. He's 9 years older than some players on the court. He had almost a decade of conditioning and growing.
-
I'll second wanting an explanation of how he still has eligibility.
