2016 - Who Are You Hoping For?
DJ Candypants replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That just means we should invite p-diddy for a metaphorical bit## slap. SMH @ Drake http://m.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/diddy-punches-drake-nasty-comment-girlfriend-cassie-article-1.2037660 -
I really hope we see him and TB on the floor together the majority of the season. If he has a reliable 15 footer come big ten time, then I can't see many scenarios where we are better with him on the bench.

Indiana vs. Maryland BTT POSTGAME Thread
DJ Candypants replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Holt is playing like a man. He is certainly a bright spot. Played like a Hoosier of tourneys past. Blackman doesn't do well with physical guards, lets get him toughened up and 10 more pounds or so please. Z played too many minutes, if we aren't getting stops and he isn't shooting then he isn't helping much. really like his heart but he is a liability when he isn't bombs away. over all good effort. -

Thats a Wisconsin pipeline already. -
Matt Roth says hello. Both seniors on our perpetually young team. Both on record saying they were not wanted back.

We would be better off with Ricky coaching. -

I want to add this as well. When the defense has been broken down and you have to foul, at least foul hard enough they miss the shot. Not trying to hurt anyone but stop the ball. I swear I have lost count at how many times nz has hand checked someone going up for a layup and its always an and 1. nz fouls like a bulimic sissy ninny. Is that not as simple as telling nick that when you bench over 180 you probably can create more contact then a kiss on the cheek?

"You know you may have a problem with the IU Basketball program if"
DJ Candypants replied to TrueHoosier62's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
when you wear your iu gear as the base to layer up. when you walk outside after the Purdue game and it feels warm. when you witness a great performance and it just doesn't feel right to clap any longer. when crean makes more faces then Lon Chaney during 1 game. when Jeremy Hollowell looks more into IU basketball then you do. -
Yikes! Anyone catch how many deflections Crean had in the press conference?

The holes in this roster are baffling
DJ Candypants replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
While we are on the subject of our lack of bigs. Does anyone know why April played for 30 seconds during the Louisville game, and nothing since? I mean it was a really odd time to insert him into the game while Louisville was pressing us and all. Then not to ever see him again. Maybe it has been discussed and I missed it but that all seems odd. Frustrated with the way that situation has played out. -
Im feeling your gut here bud. Wait no thats wierd!

Agree, they played extremely good defense. We on the other hand looked really soft. I thought they exposed some of the sloppy handles a few of our guys have, especially jb and rj, but Troy as well. Hate to harp on Troy about that though because he has really made strides. Someone already said it but the seven footer on the bench is as maddening as anything so far in Creans tenur. Felt sorry for Holt and Stan trying to guard AJ the giant. To sum it up Painter got these kids to buy in on defense, and they out manned us plain and simple. Even if you take the extreme disadvantage away in the post, Purdues guards out toughed us. We even got some calls we wouldnt get anywhere else. Yogi is excluded from the conversation about being out toughed. Not his best game but that little guy is a beast.

IU v. Wisco Game Thread 2/3 7pm on ESPN

I would have pulled out the hot hand quicker, I hate when they make it all the way back down the floor after a made basket. -
I agree 100 percent with what you are saying. So that must mean Hollowell was great in practice time and time again, because he saw all kinds of playing time. I don't buy it. Pin the tail seems more realistic then that scenario.

IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread
DJ Candypants replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
this, Colin played great but was getting handled on the defensive end when he was guarding the five. him and z man should never be in the lineup together in my opinion. Holt should have saw a lot more time, he boxed out and rebounded at a very high level as well as blocked some big shots. so I think it's fair to criticise the subs I was certainly baffled at times tonight. good for Dan to say something live on air that many of us fans have been screaming about for a long time. -
IU vs Louisville Post Game Thread
DJ Candypants replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I saw a lot of bright spots during the game, but I agree we did not play "Smart". Stan was awful, but in a way that 5 man platoon put all the pressure on him straight off the bench. He had 4 slower than anyone on the court players to pass to. I am sure that was overwhelming. I think that was on Crean more then Stan. I hate the platoon subbing, and in that game it was what a 10 point 12 point swing? Why not sub 4 leave Yogi in for 2 more minutes so we can get the ball up the court? Then pull Yogi out when Rob comes back in? Not trying to bash Crean I know that is played out, but that subbing is delusional at best. Sorry to post on the negative side, when over all I feel the team showed they have potential. -

blahahaha! thanks for the laugh. -
Max is going to be utilized this season for situational lineups and moments in games, no doubt . He is very competitive and I have a feeling he will not be afraid to shoot it from deep as soon as his butt sees separation from the pine. He is Max Hoetzel after all. Needs to eat mega protein right now. Rojo is an athlete, no doubt, also seems very competitive, I saw him get upset on a few plays during the scrimmage, he has fire. His shot is a bit awkward since he pushes out with his legs and lands a good 2 feet from where he started. He got really hot during the 5 on 5 3 point shootout. pretty sure he hit five in a row more then once and hit most he put up honestly. I think he uses a good deal of energy shooting this way and that is why he didn't fair as well in the individual 3 point contest. He is Strong and had a Better handle then I expected. I think he will draw a lot of fouls. He adds great depth at guard position. JBJ smooth, really nice timing when he lifts on offence and really great finishes with finger rolls and finesse. He is as advertised no doubt, scored so easily. Holt seemed strong for a freshman and was engaged, I think he will have a season about like DD did his freshman year, but you can see he could easily be a special player if he sticks it out with the Hoosiers for a few seasons. I posted about z already on another thread, but he moves well without the ball, squares up and shoots fast and accurate. He will play a lot, but he might get bullied a bit against bigger guards on d. He seems to be all business from the little bit of a sample I got. I think he will help the team.- Okay this might be a little controversial, but I think the most improved player may end up being Yogi. I know with where he was compared to someone like Troy who will obviously have more room for a major jump, but Yogi looked like he was really playing a game during the scrimmage. I know BBall is a game but it looked to be effortless to him, like he could do anything he wanted and whenever. He very well could be playing his final season. Troy didn't take over but you get the feeling he will, it was hard for me to say much as far as how much he may have improved. They did announce over the loud speaker that he indeed added 5 inches on his vertical which is asinine really. Also I don't recall a turnover with his name on it, that in itself was a treat. physically much stronger looking as well. Stan looks like an ill azzed R&B artist with that hair and mustache. He is still getting to the rack. He missed two layups he should have finished but we know what we should get from him every night. He can defend well we already know, and I think he is money getting 10 and 5, being one of the best sixth men in the league. HP moved his feet better that was clear. Still seemed to almost bobble the ball a few times but no doubt he was working out there, and had descent awareness.I think he will still struggle a bit with fouls honestly. Its hard to say what is going to happen with HP this year but I will be happy with hustle and commitment from this one. He is such a physical specimen that with 100 percent effort alone he should be able to rebound at a hi level, and that is a concern for this squad one would think. DD looked solid, I think with his size and speed he will flourish in the open court this year. Hard to see him guarding a five and he probably will have to, but I think Crean will try and outrun and out score opponents and DD looks like he is up to the challenge to outrun his defender. Possibly the best thing about this team when comparing them to last year is the fact we lost some baggage from last years roster. This may sound harsh but strictly speaking as a fan (Fanatic) here. All and all I think we will be much better if we remain healthy and there are no big off the court issues this season. I left the gym with optimism. Hah, sorry for the long winded response.

just watched Hoosier hysteria, and feel he will be a solid addition to this team. Shoots quick good form and confident. -
20 miles out. how's the lines looking already?

If some of the issues could be resolved, I could see him having a year like Deron Williams had for the 2004 Illinois squad next season. The Hollowell comparison ends on the court. He could very well be a distraction to the team, but on the court he is stellar and very engaged unlike our friend Hollowell. Absolutely love his size and vision on the hardwood. If Crean can reign him in and keep him focussed off the court, I am all in.
