  1. This was the thought I was going to post as I was catching up on this thread. The value of a 4th year Juwan Morgan and several other experienced players is seemingly ignored by some of those guys. The other thing I noticed from that box score is that it must have felt foreign to Reddish to only get 10 shots up for the entire game.
  2. I think it's very interesting that current IU players have shown up to watch him play several times and that Robert P was at his game with Archie. If nothing else, it shows how wanted he is at IU and reinforces a team/family approach. Heck, when a player (Freddie M.) shows up to watch and he won't even be playing with you, that's got to feel very welcoming. What, or how much it means is unknown, but the IU staff and players have gone all out to show Romeo he's wanted in B-town.
  3. I've wondered if part of the reason Romeo wants to make one more visit to Bloomington is related to training/strength/conditioning. We've heard that he already has a personal trainer but he's going to have to take it to a whole other level to become NBA ready. It seems that any questions about the coaching staff or how he'll be used at IU would be settled by now. My guess is that the planned visit is about academics and training.
  4. You make a good point about this occurring while on probation. Let's face it, what Sampson did was really just a misdemeanor but what made it significant was that he had already been caught and 'punished'. UofL would not be guilty of committing a repeat of the same offense, but flaunting their probation and committing major rules violations. Something else that may separate this from University of No Classes getting off scot free is that if the FBI evidence leads to charges and convictions, it puts the NCAA very much in a must act position.

Thanks for sharing that. Also nice to hear how the last name is pronounced (like hope with the 'f' sound on the end).

    2018 NCAA Tournament Games

While we can understand their pain, it's not like losing a key player is unique to PU. As you said, we lost May and Henderson (who were each much better players than anyone on this year's PU team) and had our title aspirations killed. Another point is that it's not like PU was steamrolling everyone coming into the tournament - they peaked in January and were vulnerable before Haas' injury.
  7. Yep. I remember hearing all the hype about Hanner and speculation that he could be a one and done. Then, I finally got to see him play on TV in one of those April pseudo H.S. championship games (not IHSAA) and came away thinking two things: 1) he has no basketball skills, and 2) LL was one woefully coached team. I held hope that the coaching was what was holding him back, but that was not the main factor.
  8. Plot twist: DBM is actually Romeo's alias and he gave Archie the silent verbal months ago.
  9. Wow. That name is so similar to one of my professors back in the late 70's http://newscenter.iupui.edu/index.php?id=3850
  10. While I realize there is an almost invisible internet presence for VU, from what little I've seen of their boards they don't seem to react to or even acknowledge anything posted that opposes their belief that they will get Romeo (or whoever they want). I base this on the "14power" board (which should probably just be named the "14fans" board, LOL).
  11. If that were my backyard, I'd skeedaddle!
  12. For Romeo's sake, I hope this game cements the importance of making free throws. He and his team mates missed way too many in such a big game.
  13. Seems like a perfect fit. After all, Atlanta is the world headquarters for Coca-Cola. He'll have diet coke and dasani anytime he wants it.
  14. Yep. If Virtuous U ends up going over by 1 visit due to counting this week and next weeks games as separate contacts, while Sleaze U counts them as a single one and doesn't exceed the visits, what does Virtuous U's compliance office do? Do they self-report to the NCAA? It would be quite hard for the NCAA to do anything about it considering Sleaze U used a different set of rules/interpretation. Logically, IMO games played on different days and/or venues is essentially the same as two separate regular season games.
  15. Wait, what? By that logic wouldn't the entire tournament be one evaluation? Sets up some interesting scenarios (doesn't it ?). One coach shows up at Seymour next week, another doesn't, then the following week both show up in Indy. Hmmmmm, will it turn into trench warfare?

My guess is all of those teams will have a down period. UNC began a downward spiral when Guthridge took over for Dean Smith, then Dougherty, and then they were able to pursuade alumnus Roy Williams to take over.
  17. No announcement until early/mid April, yet most of us will still check this thread multiple times a day until then.

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA

Since it is being discussed, I have to say I took note of some of the behavior by TJD. Kind of seemed a bit whiny/bitchy to me. There really was quite a contrast in the on-court demeanor between him and Romeo. He's only like 16 or 17, so I'm sure he'll have time to mature before the end of his high school days. There's no doubt the kid has the physical skills, talent, and potential. One thing I saw was how his FT shot was really flat, almost line-drive like. As I recall, didn't his dad have a similar shot? I hope TJD can improve and be better from the line that DD was.
  19. Yea, I thought I was in a time warp. They said that and then in the night game had him back in fourth place (well after halftime). If those numbers Rabjohns posted are correct, it appears Damon Bailey's record is safe.
  20. If it weren't for Romeo, in many other years Robert would be a strong candidate for Mr. Basketball. -Mr. Obvious

    Devonte Bandoo '18 JuCo PG

No new info, but here's the page on Bandoo on verbalcommits.com: http://verbalcommits.com/players/devonte-bandoo I was looking around that site the other day and saw they had Romeo listed as the #41 player in the 2018 rankings, but I guess player rankings isn't their forte.
  23. Langford stayed within the team framework and mostly took what was available. He had 3 team mates that contributed. Overall it was a good game between two well coached teams. I did feel that Romeo got a couple of calls in the second half, but the officiating was quite good as a whole. The idea that Davis, Smith, and Thompson were there just to watch a good basketball game is kind of silly to me. Of course they were there to make a statement.
  24. Agree. Archie knows Romeo's game and wants him to come to IU. Showing up at a game serves no purpose other than to reaffirm interest and hopefully see a good game. No doubt CAM and the staff are in frequent enough contact that RL knows he's wanted. Throw in the fact that IU only has two contacts left and it would almost be a waste to go to the game tonight. I can only imagine the hand wringing if we were out of visits and Vanderbilt and KU then scheduled practice or in-home visits with Romeo. As mentioned earlier, IHSAATV will be streaming the game, as well as 3 or 4 other games. There is a Roku app among other platforms.
  25. And how! One thing that is really encouraging is the fact that Archie was a PG, and not one that relied on superior size or athleticism. He knows we need a point, he knows what qualities it takes to play the point, and how to develop one. Now he has HIS guy in Robert P. Add in the fact that RP can get points, rebound and distribute and I fully expect that PG will be a position of strength instead of weakness.
