1. Darnell Hillman, neck and neck with Dr. J 2. Darrell Dawkins (aka Chocolate Thunder or "Zondukan") just because of the power & violent quality 3. Spud Webb. I mean, HOLY SHET! Ray Tolbert seemed to have this turbo mode where he got to a certain elevation then rose up and back before slamming in through. P.S. I'm old enough that in my early years the preferred term was a "stuff shot".

Nothing's official until, well, it's official but this feels kind of like a fait accompli. If true I'd consider it a "high risk, high reward" approach. My general response would be "apprehinsively optimistic" lol.

All-Time IU Scholly Players who Never Suited Up
pumpfake replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"Slammin" Sammy Drummer as I recall - ended up at Ball State. Edit: I stand corrected. He didn't play for BSU, but was from Muncie... -
I gave a 'like' primarily because of the username...

Agree, and by guarantee I'd mean signed and legally binding. At one time a person's word may have been their "bond" but when things happen like with Josh McDaniels you can't take that risk. Heck, the colts had already begun hiring coordinators at his suggestion before he reneged on his word. -
Electricity when it snows?

That's it! EJ to IU.

It's funny how his tenure at TX has gone. Seemed like a bad hire, then UT starts off hot and he's held up as an example of how it can take several seasons for a coach to turn things around, then his team flames out in the tourney and he's out of there. Now is that crazy twitter post from yesterday going to happen? Cal to UT, Beard to UK - that would be nuts.

We all know the transfer market will be crazy, but anybody know what the timing is as far as deadlines to enter and how late a player can wait to choose a new destination?
-
Yep. Some, especially Al and Race may want to give themselves the best shot at a tournament run. It's conceivable that we could have a much improved roster and record next year yet not make or advance in the tourney.

Dang. We need to setup "Checkpoint Charlie" on I-69...

Answering only for myself, I can say "yes we are"...

We have a "Sad", a "Confused", a "Ha-Ha", and a "Thanks" reaction. Can we get a "WTF" one, because I think I'd be using the hell out that one?

He could recruit successfully in Indiana (especially the southern half), but I don't see how he'd have any chops out of state. Part of our problem recently has been woeful out of state recruiting.

Are we going to Address the BIG TEN Elephant in the room?
pumpfake replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not a bad idea at all. The B10 regular season "crown" really doesn't mean jack anymore since there's a tournament and the season schedule is unbalanced. -
It makes sense, just as long as we don't hear the senior Mr. Franklin mention "it's time to be selfish".

Send 'em to UNC for a week, they'll come back with one.

The safest of that group would be Alford. While not great, he has had some nice seasons at UCLA. Has Cheaney ever been a head coach? If not, he'd be the riskiest. I can see reasons why the NBA guys would be more desirable and why they'd be a bigger gamble - basically they're the direct opposite of the Fife/Lewis duo. I'm not enamored of anyone on that list individually. Maybe in conjunction with a veteran coach/mentor/recruiter. IDK, but I'm pretty sure none of them would be considered "home runs" by the majority of the fanbase and each would probably disappoint many as well.
-
Uhhh, I kind of suspected that might be the case. lol
-
He actually checks multiple boxes: former IU player, NBA coaching experience, and was a pretty damn good shooter/scorer - something our current roster desperately needs coaching on. Does it make him a top level candidate? I'd think not because of his lack of experience at the college level. Still, his coaching acumen is no worse that some names that have been thrown out there.

Wan't that a Monday or Tuesday late game? I think WI had Ricky Olsen then and, boy, that guy was a thorn in our side.

Yes, the long time posters who had provided accurate "inside info" several times in the past. Not like that guy who made absolute assertions in his/her first post or two. Come on! -

It's a scenario, albeit a bit far-fetched, that has run through my mind several times. Hiring a guy out of left field as a placeholder would make me continue to wonder.
