    General Coach Candidate News

He actually checks multiple boxes: former IU player, NBA coaching experience, and was a pretty damn good shooter/scorer - something our current roster desperately needs coaching on. Does it make him a top level candidate? I'd think not because of his lack of experience at the college level. Still, his coaching acumen is no worse that some names that have been thrown out there.

    General Coach Candidate News

Wan't that a Monday or Tuesday late game? I think WI had Ricky Olsen then and, boy, that guy was a thorn in our side.
  3. I like offense and his team knows how to bank in three's....lol
  4. Yes, the long time posters who had provided accurate "inside info" several times in the past. Not like that guy who made absolute assertions in his/her first post or two. Come on!
  5. It's a scenario, albeit a bit far-fetched, that has run through my mind several times. Hiring a guy out of left field as a placeholder would make me continue to wonder.

    Ooooook who’s your # 2?

I have to say the "studied under a master line" rings hollow to me. How many of RMK's assistants at IU ever did anything as head coaches?
  7. And if I recall correctly it was due n large part because one of their legedary players (Mchale) allowed them to fleece the team he was working for to get a pivotal superstar (Garnet).
  8. When I was young I used to make fun of older guys for things like wearing black socks with shorts - that kind of thing. Now I realize they just did what they wanted, or were usedto and didn't give a "tinker's damn" what anyone thought. Now I'm in my sixties and fully understand (and embrace) that mindset. It is indeed very liberating.

    College Bball Thread

Kind of destroys the narrative that the B10 was exceptionally strong this season. So, yes, our awful season looks even worse than thought.
  10. This year it could work to our advantage, depending on who leaves. Lots of players will be available as transfers and the new coach may need to grab a few that fit his system.
  11. Yes. It's weird that the bar is set so low after the past 5 years (includes CTC's last season) that finding an upgrade should be extremely doable. Instead, many are acting like we just got the death penalty.

    Ooooook who’s your # 2?

Yeah, I think my 47 years of following IU basketball would be over if that happened - for multiple reasons (not the least of which is he is one of the ones most responsible for starting this whole sh*tshow by threatening to leave if we didn't hire Davis).
  13. Ditto, and I urge them to soldier on and continue to keep us informed - there's still a coaching search in progress for God's sake!
  14. If so this thread will annihilate the 1035 page "Tom Crean Fired" thread...
  15. Lol I had to read it twice before I "got it".
  16. Nance just started out with "Alarms are going off.." but followed by discussing the possible upset of tOSU.
  17. This is either going to be one of the greatest feats by an A.D. or the greatest psy ops in college athletics.
  18. Lol. For all their blabbering about "dusty banners", they lack the self-awaress that 1) They have NO banners, and 2) We've hung TWO since 1979 (their only trip to a FF since the transistor was invented).
  19. I don't know whether to award a laugh, a cry, a heart, or a trophy for this post - all apply for me.
  20. LOL. Another Arrested Development reference!
  21. Unlike others, I'm not feeling anxiety over this today. Something just feels good about it. Unless we're completely off base, it's clear Brad Stevens is considering the proposal and that is miles ahead of how we conducted coach searches the last 4 times. Our AD is going all out and even in the event that Coach Stevens opts to stay in Beantown, it will show other candidates that A) We're damn serious about getting a highly talented coach and B) If the situation is intriguing to Brad Freakin' Stevens, how many college coaches are above the same job? (a small handful at most).
  22. Of course it's conceivable the former player is just a blabbermouth.
