The main reason Crean will get fired.
bnkepner replied to FKfootball's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm back -
I understand what you are getting at, but I dont see it happening. Look at someone like Jurkin, when it came down to it he transfered cause he wanted to play. All thr transfers we had last year transfered to smaller schools just to play. When it comes down to it kids worry more about playing than their education. They want to play! So it doesn't make sense that they would transfer and fake an injury just for educational purposes. Plus I think it would be too hard to fake an injury when they have world class doctors and medical staff checking up on the players, doing x rays, scans, etc. Like I said I understand what you meant, but it just doesn't add up

I don't see us losing anyone to the NBA unless we go to the final four or the championship game this year..but thats a whole other conversation

I think that Holt, Davis , and Morgan make an excellent front court

What? hahah

He used to only drink Diet Coke on the sidelines, he's probably trying to cut out the pop. It's not good for ya

Amen to that! A lot of people on here and on Inside The Hall always talk about wanting 4 year players, but as fans usually aren't patient enough with a player to really want them here 4 years, same with the coach. I just look at a team like Wisconsin, and they usually don't play guys until they have been there a year or two, and they are a consistent winning team.

(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
You can rationalize it it a million ways, but I don't see it happening. He'll have no guarantee int he second round. His contract has no guarantee. If he stays another year and the team does better, he could have a chance to move into the 1st where his contract is guaranteed no matter where he is taken in the 1st round. Just look at Napier. He could've gotten taken in the 2nd round if he would've left his junior year but that fact that he stayed and led a team so far, he got that extra push into the first round. Now I'm not saying Yogi comes back his senior year and leads us to the national championship game, but him and Shabazz are comparable. -

Lots of ifs. I just don;t see a under 6 ft point guard declaring early for the NBA because he has a chance of being a 2nd round pick. Might as well stay for another year where that second round option would stay. Yogi has only gotten better each year. I understand what you are trying to say cause someone like Watford killed his chances by coming back, but this is a different scenario all today. -

Thanks. I think Rob will handle a lot of point duties this year as a backup to Yogi. I could even see JBJ handling the ball a lot for this team. I'm not against them signing Shake, but I am not pushing for us to sign him. I welcome any talented player that wants to come aboard. -

My question is what is the difference between Shake and Rob Johnson? Seems like they are basically the same player with Rob being a better shooter and player overall. Im not trying to put down Shake or his game, just honestly curious -

if he left because he had a preditiom of going early 2nd round that would be crazy and not smart on his part. No contract in the second round is guaranteed. He would be smarter to stay because we will be a better team and he will look better as the point guard of a great team instead of a great individual -

Yogi isn't going anywhere. Even if he graduates early he would most likely go to grad school at IU and have his eligibility. -
Honestly, there are kids that just flat out do have a desire to play for Indiana. McRoberts is one of them. The Plumlees were from Indiana, but played high school basketball in North Carolina, hence the draw to Duke, McGary played at a prep school out of state. Glen Robinson Jr was under recruited by the whole nation. He only had offers from ISU, Valpo, and a few no names until Michigan offered at the last minute. Indiana was the first school to offer Irvin, but he mentions that he always dreamed of going to Michigan, so as soon as they offered him, he agreed. It's one thing that a lot of people don't seem to understand, sometimes kids have their minds made up on what school they like even before their recruiting picks up. Take Swanigan for example. He has said from the beginning that he wanted to play for Michigan St. The staff at IU can only do so much, not every player is going to come to Indiana. Heck Knight didn't always get all the top talent from Indiana to come to IU.

I wouldn't be against him coming per say, but I have just never been too blown away by his or Shake Milton's videos or anything. I think we have our own version of Juwan Morgan in Holt and our own version of Shake in Rob Johnson

I think the thing is overall, Crean is our coach right now and there is nothing anyone can do. No matter how much people don't like him or complain online about him, he is the coach.

Lindy's Sports ranks IU preseason No. 28
bnkepner replied to bleedhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not quite sure how legit it was. I love that they had IU at 28, but they had Yogi as the 20th best pg in the nation and Yogi on the 3rd all big ten team??? Doesn't add up to me. Yogi is easily a top 19 if not top 5 pg in the nation and is definitely 1st team all big ten. -
You'd be surprised to find that most other schools complain about their coach as well. UCLA fans were already talking about getting rid of Alford last year. If you go onto some Duke sites, most of the fans on those sites were calling for Coach K's retirement (forced) because of them getting upset last year.

Some of these names bring up great memories. Kory Barnett is a good one. He went to high school with my cousin. My cousin was on the basketball team with him. Barnett wasn't even the best player on their team and they didn't play in a very competitive league. Word was that he got his spot on IU because his dad worked for Adidas

Isn't that pretty much what every thread turns into hahahahaha

If You Could Only Pick One New Recruit From Any Class
bnkepner replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Zimmerman has been a long shot this whole time. I don't think we really had a chance with him from the start. -
I don't really ever see it happening. I like the idea of Alford, but I think a lot of IU fans wouldn't tolerate him for too long either. Alford hasn't had much, if any, tournament success and thats all i've read about on here and on ITH. He's a good recruiter and has done well at all the programs he's coached but how far has he made it that far in the tournament. I'd personally like to have him here, but I just don't see it happening

Who Will Be IU's Next Commitment
bnkepner replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You do realize that colleges give offers to dozens upon dozens of kids each year and miss out on a ton as well. We also went hard after guys like Troy Williams, Robert Johnson, James Blackmon Jr, Stanford Robinson and Noah Vonleh over the last year or two. All the guys I just listed were recruited by top programs and Crean and his staff were able to "win". We are not the only team that loses out on recruits. It's very easy to sit back and only see a players ratings and make all the assumptions, but let the kids play before making an judgment. Zeisloft already started to prove that he belongs here. -
Hanner wore a boot on his foot as a precaution most of last season but it was never serious enough to hold him out of games. It's too early to worry about this now. Jurkin came to IU injured. He had been injured since high school. Jeremiah got hurt in practice at IU, big difference. From what I know, April doesn't have a history of injury and that was a known fact about Jurkin in high school.
