    Priller

-The year he brought in Bracey Wright and Marshall Strickland he also brought in a PF from the West Coast named Daryl Pegram. 2/3 star guy that only had 3 offers total.( William & Mary, George Mason, IU). He played in two games at IU and transferred.  -The next year Davis brought in 6' 10" PF Jessan Gray-Ashley from Iowa. The kid was a string bean, was unranked and had ) stars no stars on one recruiting website and 2 stars on another. He played in a game or two his first semester and then was academically ineligible and transferred (he ended up going to like 3 or 4 different schools before he graduated) -Who could possibly forget the great Cem Dinc, center from Germany(by way of Brewster Acadamy) that Davis brought in. He was unheard of. He was only listed on one recruiting site that had him at 0 stars. He played a few minutes in 3 games in his first year and transferred out. Random players but Jessan Gray-Ashley and Cem Dinc are probably the most unknown ever brought.

    Mid-season forecast

Their size is worrisome but their big men tend to foul, A LOT. All we have to do is drive it right at them.

Yeah China and other smaller pro leagues can pay a lot but those leagues only allow a certain amount of international players and if you get hurt, you get cut and then you have nothing. These kids aren't going to Europe and playing in the top leagues, they are playing in China and other leagues that aren't well developed.

I think those with these thoughts have some IU blinders on. Troy is athletic as all get out but thats where it ends. He can't handle the ball, can't shoot efficiently, and isn't the best defender. There are tons of guys like that in the NBA plus a million more in D League and Europe trying to make it to the NBA. Troy should take a look at Vonleh, someone who was drafted based off potential. Vonleh has a nice comfy seat at the end of the bench on a crappy team in a weak division/conference. Im not saying Williams couldnt do it, I just don't think it would be smart. He needs a lot of improvement if he doesn't want to spend his life in the D league and in Europe

Sure he is stoked cause right now he has no other option. Im just saying that kids want to play ball. Look at Peter, he could've been happy sitting on the bench and getting his education, but he transferred to a small school just for the opportunity to play. Im guessing the same thing will happen will Priller and April. No matter where a player is from their top priority and desire is to play ball, not be part of the bench mob

Thats a stretch. Mike Davis brought in his fair share of unknown recruits that didn't even make it a year or two in the program.

Its been said by Thon and Ed Smith that the overseas deal is not in the cards for them. Hasn't worked well for Mundiay. He got hurt and cut by his Chinese team. If players could play in competitive European leagues then I would see the benefit but so far no one has gone that route and been super successful in the NBA
  8. There are a few more than Roy, but people just don't realize that basketball has changed. The traditional lineup of PG, SG, SF, PF, C just doesn't really exist today. Basketball has evolved from that traditional lineup. Big men have to be able to step out and hit shots and post up. And today's big men are usually someone between 6'8" and 6'11".  Fans need to adapt to the new style of basketball that is being played

Its only my personal opinion. Ive followed the draft for years and nbadraft.net usually does have super up to date mocks but their mock drafts don't seem to be very accurate in my opinion. Maybe last years was for 2013 but Ive been following nbadraft.net since 2000 or so. Im not arguing that Troy isn't worthy of a high draft pick, but when all other mock drafts had him about about 20 picks lower it gets a little interesting. Again its only my personal opinion (we are on a message board filled with them). In my experience nbadraft.net hasn't been the most reliable when it is this early in the year.
  10. I see where they could be comparable. Both are known for freakish athleticism, but there are also some big discrepancies.Marion's shot IS ugly, but he was respected for his range and had an amazing mid range game as well. Plus Marion was known for his defense. Could be a goal to work towards but Troy doesn't have the respected shot or the D right now. Currently I see him as more comparable to Gerald Green or James White. Both are dunkers and great athletes who never really have fit into a system in the NBA. James White was a fringe NBA player who was a highlight reel dunker. Neither one shot it that great, although Green's shot has improved the last few years, and neither are known for their D. If Troy leaves too early he is going to be added to the list of guys like Gerald Green and James White (amongst a million other athletic 6'7'' dunkers)

    Anunoby and Morgan

Every report, story, or profile I've read says he is 6'8'' 215lb

Every team in the nation takes gambles on players that end up sitting the bench. Its win win most of the time because if they come in and can play, it helps the team. If they come in and just flat out can't cut it, its usually pretty obvious to them and they transfer out to a school where they will play

If he has a good post game and can shoot it from outside he would be a great pickup for this team. He could be our version of Georges Naig from Iowa St.

Also important to realize that the video posted here was from when he was in high school two years ago. If you compare his weight in high school to now, he has gained weight to play in the post and judging by pictures he has mostly bulked up.

You also have to take into consideration that NBAdraft.net is the least respectable out of the mock drafts. Theirs are usually WAY off from actual outcomes of drafts.

A lottery pick that is at the end of the bench of a terrible team in the NBA ;) But thats another story

I think last year was more of pure desperation for someone to play. When Austin Etherington starts a handful of games, your team is in trouble haha
  18. I don't see him ever being a 40% shooter. I see him as a low 30s guy but that will be all we need from him if we continue to add shooters like we have. Not every player has to be a complete package. Certain players are brought in for specific skills.

Why does he have to give a reason for his sub patterns? Ive never heard on coach explain his sub pattern. You guys are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel these days

I'm glad we are giving a look at some Juco players. There are great players out there in JUCO ball out west.

No rhyme or reason to his sub pattern? You should read Crean's comments on that idea earlier this week.
  23. You're right, but I think there is a reason he isn't shooting 3s this year. Most of the IU insiders explained to fans that even though Troy had worked on his shot, he wouldn't be a threat from deep this year.
  24. I hope he can turn out that way. I wasn't around during Victor's sophomore year…was deep in the jungles of Perú then haha.
  25. But honestly all we heard about this summer was him working on his shot and it was hyped up that he hit like 10,000 3s this year. So if this is how he shoots after a whole summer of working on his shot, I'm not sure what that says. I don't doubt he can still improve but I don't think he will ever be a good 3 point shooter.
