Couldn't stand hearing him call a game so I guess I won't have to worry about that for awhile!
-
I don't think so. Jeremy was one of the best players in the state. Hanner was one of the best athletes in the country! Had they not signed with IU, some other big school would've made the same mistake

I still think getting Yogi out of that class was one of the best things that happened. Yogi will most likely go down as the most under appreciated player at IU.

(2015) PF Kassoum Yakwe off the board

Should he only have offers from Incarnate word and Ivy Tech? Would that be better? hahah -
I dont agree at all. You can't make people do something. Crean is allowed to control them during practice, but his hands are tied after that practice ends. He can't make someone become a gym rat. Thats not just Crean but that is all college coaches. There are highly touted kids that end up being nothing in college. I can see where Crean would get the blame. But those coaches have to trust their gut feeling on kids. They don't get to be around them 24/7 before offering them. But going back to that year with Hanner and Jeremy. If people would've had predicted that Hollowell would've been a bust and that Hanner would be playing like he is, they would've thought that person was crazy.

He is getting the minutes Holt gets here, but Patterson doesn't produce

(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
No one is going pro. Only one site (i posted it) has JBJ in a mock draft for this year. The other sites have Troy and Yogi as second rounds and one site has Troy in the late first. If you aren't a guaranteed lottery pick, there is no reason to leave early. Second round picks have no guaranteed roster spot or camp invite. -

I don't think we need him at this point. Unless he has had a huge growth spurt, we don't need another guard or wing -
And in other news, Tyler Haws from BYU is also a beast

Syracuse swung and missed with Patterson as well cause the kid is so bad he can't even sniff the court their. At the time, we would've looked dumb not to go after and sign Hanner and Hollowell. These kids were ranked in the top 50 nationally in their class. The fact that their haven't worked hard on their own is not Creans fault. And I think a lot of the Harris situation had to do with some recruiting violations as well. He was contacted during a period that he wasn't supposed to have been. If Harris really would've wanted to come and Crean felt like he would've come, there would've been a spot for him.
-
No I definitely didn't take it as you attacking Thon himself. I guess we'll see in the coming months what happens. I doubt Coach K would be involved though if there was that much stink coming off the situation. There are some respectable coaches still recruiting him so that bodes well for the situation. I guess we'll see what happens.

Dunham had committed to Butler before breaking out on the high school scene. And Harris definitely was a priority for Crean. Crean worked his tail off, but in the end, Harris chose a different route.

If there is some sort of violation its going to no different from Peter and Hanner here. Kid moved from South Sudan to Australia to escape a civil war that has been going on since 1989. Moved from Australia to the US to get more exposure basketball wise. As far as his move from Virginia to Canada, can't speak on it. He did go to a bigger basketball school in Canada. All Im saying is the persecution this kid escaped from in South Sudan, he gets a lifetime pass in my book

Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
bnkepner replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Their program seems to be a little fishy. The Mundiay situation was a weird one as well. Now Martin leaves the program and its just all around weird -
I think its an easy decision to go play. I never was recruited in any sports or anything but its kind of like applying for college. I applied to three schools when I graduated from high school. I applied to IU, Butler, and Ball St. I've been an IU fan since I was born and dreamed of going to school there. I was accepted at all three but Butler offered me a small academic scholarship and Ball St a full ride academic scholarship. So I could go to IU and pay full tuition or go to Ball St for free. I ended up choosing Ball St because of the scholarship. Like others have said, it depends on the person. We've had walk ons at IU that were offered scholarships at other schools but would rather sit the bench as a walk-on at IU. Then there are other kids that would rather play and end up transferring out for that opportunity. I don't necessarily think that riding the bench at IU for 4 years gets you any advantage or someone who played 4 years at a mid major or smaller school.

Agreed. I already hear about them enough on ESPN
-
They have one of the most talented squads that Gonzaga has ever had this year. Wiltjer is a beast down low and his backup is Arvydas Sabonis' son Domantas. He is a freshman and has looked great. I wish we could tap into some of that European talent. IU has never had too much luck in that department but several big schools are starting to

Anyway that we can convince Venky Jois to transfer here?

DraftExpress Rankings: Top 100 Prospects
bnkepner replied to bnkepner's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Rob is a great driver but I think his ball handling is only slightly better than JBJ at this point. I think scoring wise JBJ still has him beat. Rob, at this point, is still too much of a streaky shooter. I do think he takes over as our starting pg when Yogi leaves. I've been thoroughly impressed. I think in the long run JBJ still has more potential and a better career. You can teach JBJs shooting and JBJs D isn't as bad as people have made it out to be. I think they are close by Blackmons shooting gives him the edge in my book. -

Definitely has been. I actually kind of like the idea of him bringing the ball up every now and then. I think it could work in a year or so when has better decision making. I think it works well, then he tries to do too much and it falls apart -
Yeah I found that earlier too when I was looking. ESPN's recruiting page doesn't seem to do updates after they initially post a players profile though. Most of the other recruiting sites had him at 6'8" 215

His ball handling has gotten better, maybe I should've said his decision making when he has the ball in his hands. He always seem s to turn the ball over at the worst possible time.
