Not only did Davis say James wasn't IU material, he didn't think he was D1 material. I saw Dominic James player several times when I was in high school and he was a great talent then and even better in college

2015 April Evaluation Period
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Jamal Murray is worth the trip alone as well. He is an amazing point guard with size. I hope we get in on him as well. Its an added plus that him and Thon are teammates -
I think he just rubs some people the wrong way. One thing he does do after games he is recruiting at, he makes sure and tells the kid what they could still improve upon. So players really like that, and some players seem to want everyone to bow down and kiss their feet. I personally know that there are kids that really love coach Crean and then I have read stories of other recruits who can stand him. Same could be said about a lot of coaches that have been here at IU. Hopefully the situation between our coach and Indiana high school players/coaches will never be as bad as it was when Davis was here

I agree 100%. I honestly think Pettway is more of a problem but I was trying to be nice haha -

The Penn St/Nebraska game is on ESPN 2 and there is literally no one there haha -
Agler, Brooks, Stratman and Muensterman leaving IUWBB

Hence why I started my whole response off with that it happens to both "players and coaches". My example was of player because it happens to both -

bnkepner replied to biteoftheapple's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
It honestly happens all the time with players and coaches. Look at the recent news with Duke. They kicked Rasheed Sulaimon without really giving a reason and it later came out that he had been accused of sexual assault and Duke just acted like they had no idea and still won't comment on the situation. I think AD's and coaches try to lie and sweep things under the rug constantly. I think they should be held accountable though -

I enjoy watching Pettaway but he kind of plays the role of their savior/problem. He puts up ALOT of shots, but is not efficient at all. Last year he had a lot of shots fall but I think teams have kind of figured him out this year. He helps Nebraska out a lot but is the downfall of the team as well a lot of the time -
He is probably still weighing everything that just happened to Syracuse and waiting to see how things go here. From the sounds of everything though, he is a heavy lean towards us. A week or two ago I had read that he was down to us and Syracuse even though Kentucky was still trying their best.

Maura Muensterman is a huge loss to this team. One of the best shooters Ive seen. Heck of a scorer in high school, but wasn't given much of shot this year. Kind of surprising that a lot of these talented players didn't get a lot of playing time when the team struggled so bad this year. -

Its really the same guy? The quality looks like night and day on these and on the ones to the recruits wow -
Potential fallout from coaching change

A bit off topic but how many players in Sampson's second year would've been academically ineligible? I thought there were several who weren't going to qualify -
From the sounds of it, Zeisloft came in with a one year plan. Will get his masters and be gone. He isn't getting pushed out of the program

I wish whoever was making these ones was making the photoshopped ones sent to recruits because the quality between the two are staggering haha -

OT: NCAA penalizes Syracuse and Boeheim

That was one part of it. They also failed to report failed drug tests and Im sure that players that failed to meet academic standards were still allowed to play -
OT: NCAA penalizes Syracuse and Boeheim
bnkepner replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was more specifically referring to the whole scandal with Syracuse with academics and with them failing to discipline students after failed drug tests. Of course they are going to vacate wins from Boeheim if he won those games with players who shouldn't have been playing -

Coach K on PTI saying he thought the penalties against Boeheim and Syracuse were too harsh and unfair. Ridiculous how they can stick up for people that have been caught CHEATING. Unbelievable to me honestly -
So has the thread about getting off topic gotten off topic? HAHAH!!!! This place is great!

If he graduates from his grad program over the summer there is nothing left for him to actually do at IU academically and I don't think he could even stay if he or we wanted him to

Potential coaching change suggestions

Plus he was IU's number 1 candidate seven years ago and wanted nothing to do with us, I doubt much has changed -

There was some really nasty hazing/abuse done by the upperclassman towards underclassman. Came out the Howland denied having any knowledge of it, but if you read the SI article on it, its pretty nasty. It kind of gave of a Sampson vibe where he only cared about what happened on the court and nothing else. Howland had 0 control (or didn't care) over his players off the court. No thanks on Howland -

Unless we lose against Northwestern on Thursday, I see Bryant coming here and Crean staying. I know the rumor is that his wife and family don't want to be here anymore but Im not buying into that just yet. I guess we'll see what happens on Thursday -

bnkepner replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
True, but money talks and I don't see him walking away from it. He is a quirky enough guy to keep going. Plus from the sounds of everything I'm reading and hearing from others, Thomas Bryant is most likely ours to lose right now -
Happened in 2005 when IU hosted Vanderbilt in the NIT. Towards the end of the game there were lots of "Fire Davis" and "Fire Greenspan'' chants. On a side note the best outburst though was when Marshall Strickland was shooting free throws during the games. In a split second before he shot a Vanderbilt fan yelled "miss it" really loud while the fans were silent for the free throw, someone else (an IU fan) yelled right back "shut up hillbilly!!" right before Strickland hit the free throw and ALL of Assembly Hall burst out in laughter
