Indiana Improving Year by Year?
bnkepner replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Even taking out the two years with Zeller, look at all the other talent he has had. This year's team had just as much talent as any other team out there -
Sean Miller was the second option on IU's wish list back in 08 and he had 0 interest in the job

(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I thought it was interesting that we are always recruiting him and seem to be in good shape with him. But we aren't even really close on sites like 247. There hasnt been a single prediction for IU -
Which coach would you rather have?
bnkepner replied to TomPritchard25's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Except Self has also had a couple years in a row of his best players being found academically ineligible right before the season or during. He probably has more violations in that regard than most in recent years -
Don't know exactly the expectations but he is the 22nd ranked player in his class. He's tough and can finish through contact and rebound out the wazoo so he adds something that we severely lack

Wisconsin or Gonzaga. Both really know how to develop players

Sorry disappoint you then because most all the experts are saying its almost a lock that Bryant comes here. I don't want Crean to stay more than anyone else but all signs are pointing to him staying so ya

(2015) C Diamond Stone to Maryland
bnkepner replied to JSHoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Same thing happened in Minnesota last year. They had a few McDonald's All-Americans and none of them would even listen to Pitino -
I think he also got hurt and was out for a long time this year

Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
bnkepner replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't know if I see Max at UNLV. He is good friend with Goodluck but that is his only connection to them. Other than IU his next biggest offer was from Utah and besides that he had offers from a handful of smaller California based schools. Im guessing he lands at one of the smaller schools so he can be THE man like he wants to be -
Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass
bnkepner replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Ive said it all along, Glass has to go with Crean. -
Stan and Max weren't pushed out

Thats the key. At ND and Wisconsin guys come in knowing they are going to ride the pine for a year or two and work to get playing time. I feel like a lot of other players feel like they come in as a superstar and feel entitled to playing time..we've seen that here

Where? Not even being mentioned on ESPN online or anywhere

Sadly, I don't think t he administration really cares. They have been terrible the past two years, but the schools is still making a lot of revenue off the basketball program and everything. A lot of these administrators have only heard about IU's days of glory and really have no real life connection to it so as long as the money is flowing, they probably don't care
-
Their argument though is that he is under contract for a few more years so why would they have to announce that he is coming back. I keep hearing the only way they will make any sort of announcement is if he is leaving. I think people just better get used to the idea of him staying for next year cause no matter what any of us want, all signs are pointing to him staying.

Im hoping this year we will actually look a little more attractive to a few more grad transfers or transfer big men

https://twitter.com/franfraschilla/status/476874382975840256 This was from last summer but I think behind the scenes we are at a really good standing with Thon

Could have been a really great player here later on. I think his ego got in his way a bit. He wanted more playing time but looked lost and scared when he got out there. He felt he deserved more playing time aka he had some sense of entitlement. He came in as a shooter but like some of our "shooters" in the past, he didn't shoot the ball when he was in the game
-
Football makes more money than basketball by a long shot. "In 2010, the collective revenue of the 15 highest-grossing football programs in the United States was more than $1 billion." "Nationally in 2010-11, the top 15 college basketball programs generated roughly $293 million,"

Hollowell should never be counted as a big man. He was wing through and through
-
Checking the dates, you are right, but he has been offered a lot of jobs and turned them down. His name has been thrown out in every head coaching vacancy situation in the NBA the last few years and he has turned it down. Unless a team that is a contender decides to fire their coach and offer him the job, he won't take it. His strength is recruiting good players to play for him so that he doesn't have to do much coaching.
-
He's not going anywhere. He got offered to coach Cleveland with Lebron and that whole cast this year. If he could turn that job down, there aren't a lot of other NBA jobs he is going to take

Stan only decided to show up and actually play ball in the last game of the year. Regressing from freshman to sophomore didn't bode well for him. His jump shot somehow got even worse and anytime he had the ball at the basket..he looked like he had no idea what sport he was playing. At least OG and Juwan provide a little potential A team full of juniors and seniors with Hulls, Vic, Watford, and Elston…lets see don't everyone complain that they underachieved anyways? I don't see your point
-
I think more than anything he realized his playing time went down from last year to this year. JBJ, Rob, Yogi, and Troy will only get better and get more ball handling time so I think Stan saw the righting on the wall. He didn't add anything to the team this year except problems in the off season. I'd take OG and Juwan Morgan over Stan any day
