No one gave him credit and I got flack for saying this last year but I think Blackmon Jr improved towards the end of the season. He is never going to be a shut down defender but I think he did progress in small increments as the season ended. He will never be not he court because of his D but I believe that he can improve

(2015) PG Jamal Murray to UK
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It does say respectively though. So that means Oregon was there to see Murray and IU was there to see Maker -
From what Ive been hearing, neither one has the grades/test scores for college

Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources
bnkepner replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I definitely think Yogi has as good as shot at the NBA as anyone. He has great range on his shot. A part from his freshman year we haven't been able to see Yogi play where he hasnt had to have been the hero. He has carried the team on his back for 2 straight years without much help. If you look at Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics, Yogi could easily fit that mold. A lot of players with similar talents to Yogi are getting good minutes on NBA teams. Yogi also plays great defense. Everyone forgets that he completely shut down Stauskas from Michigan a season ago. Yogi only seems to get worn down because he has had to do everything for this team the last two years. -
I think with a great summer he will be a lot better for us this upcoming year. I imagine we will see a completely different JBJ next year
-
Murray is the real deal. He was the best player from both squads in the Nike Hoop Summit this year by far. He is a big for a point guard as well.

Good thing that the 2016 and 2017 classes are some of the best that there have been in awhile

No Im not looking for any sort of argument either. I just was letting you know that I never said he didn't have any game at all. I said I loved his game when it comes to his shooting and scoring ability. Thats what he was brought in for. I was saying that there are parts of his game that need adjustments (consistency) and there are basketball aspects that need added to his game(emotion and defense. No offense taken whatsoever Im very glad that he is coming back to continually work on things. I think next season will be very different for him

I see that you conveniently left out the part where I said I loved his potential. Ive watched James since high school and saw him play multiple times over the years. "His" game is his shooting. I love his shot and his scoring ability. He makes scoring look easy most of the time and that is why he was brought in. Now this year for some some he did have games where he would disappear, of course I didn't like that. JBJ has never been much of an emotional player, which I think hurts him and he never has been known for playing D. Emotion and Defense are not part of "his" game, but are things that he needs to improve on and add to his game. So I can say I love his game (shooting and scoring) and also say that he lacks on the emotional side and his D"

Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources

He was a starter at the beginning of this year for a handful of games. I don't see it happening again though -
There are probably teams that thought he can possibly be a 1st rounder..but that doesn't mean that they would actually draft him in the first round. If he declares…it will be one of the dumbest decisions. He showed last year that he lacks consistency, emotion, and any inch of D. I really love JBJs game and potential but this would just be plain stupid

Maker is starting to trend to ASU hard

Guess you were never a Will Sheehey fan then. Yeah lets just have a team that gives up when faced with a challenge

Swagger is ALWAYS a good thing

Alex Bozich at Inside the Hall has been reporting that Thomas Bryant has already signed his LOI so i think any rumors that he is wavering are just rumors. He is ours
-
He has the potential to be a 1st rounder, but he lacks the motor to do so. There are a million big men without a motor in the NBA, D league, Europe, and elsewhere

2015 Transfers and Early Entries
bnkepner replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I like how all of a sudden because LeVert is coming back lots of "experts" have Michigan finishing very high. There was a good part of last year that LeVert was still healthy and they weren't doing so hot. They still have no inside presence. -
(2016) C Isaac Humphries to Kentucky
bnkepner replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Has anyone heard anything else on this kid? It is just mind blowing that he is playing right here in Indiana and we aren't taking any action. He is already ranked 40 in ESPN's top 60 for 2016. He has offers from Kansas, Arizona, and Illinois and it seems like mums the word as far as CTC and Indiana are concerned. -
(2016) PG C.J. Walker off the board

Ive seen the kid play and while he is a good player, I just can't really see him playing here -
(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
No Im not disputing anything at all, I just see on here how we are recruiting him hard but don't see much else online. And I don't buy much into what order a recruiting puts schools in cause in everyone interview he names his schools in different orders If you read all of his latest tweets and all the latest news, it looks like St Johns is slowly creeping to the top for him. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love for him to come here -
Great comparison!

(2015) C Stephen Zimmerman to UNLV

He impressed me in the McDonalds game. Very similar to Zeller as far as motor and game -
(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
bnkepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I know we see it on here that IU is recruiting Rawle the hardest but if you look at all the big recruiting websites, it seems like we aren't recruiting him the hardest. On 247 we've never gotten a Crystal Ball prediction for him. Its currently : Villanova 40%, Kansas 30&, SJ 20%, Texas 10%. -
Except Vonleh was the second best 3pt shooter behind yogi two years ago. I don't think Bryant is going to come out trying to shoot a bunch of threes but he has shown that he can step out and hit a few a game consistently. No reason to change his game

I just question how much we have really been "in" on him. None of the national recruiting sites really showed that we had much of a shot
