All of these basketball insiders like Meyer are basically like weathermen. Their guess is just as good as ours

2015 April Evaluation Period

No i definitely understand, but given Purdue's track record…I'm not going to sweat it. They have had some good big men (Jujuan Johnson, Hammonds, Haas) but all their good big men have come in highly recruited and highly developed. THey haven't shown the ability to actually develop much talent. -

http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20150427/SPORTS/150429761/1054 Eron Gordon says his top 3 schools are Butler, Notre Dame, and Arizona State. He says that Indiana and Purdue are still in the mix but "not as much". -

Very true. I know OSU was going to handle the situation just like BYU. Dastrup was basically going to be apart of their 2016 class but he ultimately decided to go to BYU at the last minute. Definitely will be interesting to see how it works out for Frank Jackson -

Not as high up as Jabari or Frank Jackson but Payton Dastrup from 2014 class was an OSU commit before ultimately signing with BYU. He was in ESPN top 100 and had offers from Kansas, UCLA, OSU, Arizona, amongst others. Eric Mika was also ranked higher coming out of high school than Frank Jackson. -

Just like a HS commit delayed by 2 years. He doesn't use a scholarship till he is actually at school -
Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?

Knight always said one of his biggest regrets was that he didn't recruit all over the US and only stayed in the Midwest haha -

I wouldn't mind IU getting some sort of connection with Lone Peak High School Also, how would CTC and the staff respond to Jackson's desire to serve a 2 year mission before coming to IU if he decided to go here? Would be interesting -

Frank Jackson is REALLY good!! He was a BYU commit but started to bet more attention from other schools, so he open his commitment back up. -

Not a new name. His name was mentioned within the last month. He was a VCU commit that decommitted when Shaka Smart left for Texas -
They were honestly overrated all year this last year. They lost a few pieces and pick up a few high quality recruits, but I definitely think we can compete with anyone this next year

I don't think we have been too high up on the list in his mind -
Id rather us not load up with a 6 person class so we can bring in a few 2017 recruits as well (Scruggs, Wilkes, Gunn, and Malik Williams are a few great IN players in that class) I'd like to see us bring in Rawle DeRon Davis Joey Brunk Eron Gordon and then wait and bring in Scruggs, Wilkes, and Williams in 2017

(2016) C Joey Brunk to Butler

Different positions. DeRon is more of a stretch 4 and face up player down low while Brunk is more of a 5 -
Harris improved his stock and completely disappeared on one of the worst teams in the NBA

I honestly don't think we are showing enough interest at this point. I'd love for us to get him but it seems like other programs are showing more interest than we are. I don't understand it personally -
I don't see him having a huge jump defensively. He has never been a known defender and I don't think that will ever be his game at all. He was recruited at a high level for his scoring ability and even the NBA execs and gms that gave feedback to him all talked about his shooting and scoring ability. He will play in the league because of that. I think if he can be an average defender, that will be enough if we are speaking honestly
-
I like that Crean said that these NBA executives and scouts that they consult don't beat around the bush with their feedback and comments. JBJ said a lot of the feedback he got was about his defense, so I think it really hit home with him. Hoping defense is getting pushed big time during the summer going into next season. Adding Bryant will definitely help
-
One of the things I loved the most from the press conference was they said that once JBJ had received the feedback and critique from NBA scouts/execs/etc he immediately went to the gym that night to keep working. He is a hard worker and will definitely be improved going into next year. All IU fans(myself included) had huge expectations of him coming in and I think the majority of us were a little disappointed, but when you look back at what he did scoring wise for a freshman, he had a good season. Next year should be great though
