I guess one way to view it is, would Fife at least equal Archie's success? Does Fife actually have the moxy to carry the weight of a program like IU? I don't want to rehire Archie, is my point. Might as well hang tough for the real hire. I understand the definition of insanity though. He wanted to get old and stay old. That's great, but we need to be in the tournament to afford that patience. I really wish there was ANY indication that this program was on the upswing. Stuck in neutral. I like the guy. He's obviously just not built for IU. Damn he felt like he was going to be general-lite though.

All I know is I would do anything to still have Coach Clapppy burning the lacquer off the hardwood on the sidelines while we are in the round of 32 coming off a 25 win season. The Archie Era has been a humbling view of success in today's game.

Good. If there is a player check out like there was the final run of Crean, it will force the situation along that was already festering. Program has essentially gone NO WHERE for 4 years. Next year has NOTHING happening more than what we see now.

Tank train, this program has no future with this guy other than bottom 4 in conference. Guys are soft, no buy in, bad system getting tore apart by most of the big ten. Rinse and repeat with a good game sprinkled in here and there.

Internal turmoil looms. Now I'm stuck here not wanting to watch the 2nd half and go to bed but now wife is binge watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer series from 96 in the bedroom. I blame Archie for all this. Don't change my mind.

Anyone seen a replay schedule yet?

Me last night at 10pm realizing I forgot IU was on and then remembering I don't really care anymore.

I think one thing that is starting to feel like an Archie coached team pattern, is the last 3 years, they have turned on the heat in the final stretch. Definitely laid an egg in BTT but end of season, under pressure of tourney, paid out well. Here we are again this year and we shall see soon enough what happens in the final 4-6 games. I say that, but who cares, make a run at the tourney or get out of Bloomington. Moral victories were for season 2 and 3.

I did not feel good at all about us parting ways with Crean at the time. It was definitely time, but I very much liked Tom Crean, the guy, even if he was a bit maniacal. It also felt like his players would fall on a sword for him. Even years later, old players came around. Archie.. has what I would call zero success here, and his old players don't really fawn(sp?) over him. I can't help but wonder if we'd have another sweet 16 run at least if Crean were still here. He, if anything, could catch some momentum in a season. Archie, can't get this program out of 2nd gear apparently. Separately, none of this feels good because even if the one of the available guys come here, are they ANY better than the Crean/IU era?

Agree, there is no alpha on this team. It's Franklin, a whole team of bench players, and a fringe All Big Ten TJD who lacks motivation randomly and is a 1 dimensional big man at this point. Shoot a freaking 8 foot jump shot dude, it's not going to be blocked. And there seems to be no help coming other than Lander settling in. IU's ceiling with Archie is 4th or 5th in conference and bubble talk every year. IU has been spinning its wheels, going no where for 3 years now. Same season x3. Archie and IU aren't a good fit. I was really buying it at the change of the guard too. Turns out it's just a recipe for middle of the pack basketball. I'd pay illegal money to get Yogi back in an IU uniform. 5'11 ALPHA

Thanks for the perspective. I know you're not around much so hope you and fam are doing well. There are definitely a group of people, like myself, who do appreciate your thoughts on the matter around here. So as much **** as you take, know the other half also looks for your posts for insight. Great call on how pleased we'd be with Franklin.
