Im done...I'm done with terrible track records outside of being a "giant killer" at home. This has turned into us being some kind of 2nd tier program who a reputation as "big programs better watch out for"... it's kind of a joke, us being IU and all... He needs to go quickly before recruiting takes a hit and we spend 3 or 4 years down and out trying to rebuild again. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app

Apathy.. this team does not excite me. It's not this game. I almost skipped the butler game, watched this one late.. didn't even watch the last 2 cupcakes. You can tell this team doesn't have it. Glad I skipped overtime to watch Newkirk continue to be a hot mess. Who cares if he had "11 assists" against one of the worst d1 teams. Seriously, who cares. I'll be honest, even OG looks a little lazy at times. This team hasn't bought what Crean is selling. Just like timeouts, Crean takes player fouls to the bus. The team is spiraling out, leave Rojo who is on fire, in the freaking game.. I mean, he is honestly our #2 defender behind OG afterall Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app

IUBB Hosts Austin Peay - 12/22 @ 7:00 ET

I'm salivating at the thought of a upperclassmen Davis with a few years with Je'ney under his belt. We have an absolute steady force at center for years to come! Finally! Same for Morgan.. a senior Morgan and junior Davis... oh yea, front court will be locked down that year. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -
Not a peep. 2 things we know about Crean: 1) he will never burn a Scholly again, per his own words. 2) super secretive about any injury on the team. He's very vague on the obvious ones we see in games and we us ally find out after the season that someone was playing with a broke bone or something (Hartman, Elston come to mind). Maybe that's normal for most teams. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app

Lol, Blackmon looked to be hardcore dissapointed that Rojo decided to give the steal over to OG for the double clutch reverse jam, on the break. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Man, I don't want to but I can't help but be curious about next year. Looks like a step back for us on the surface. We know Rojo will be a steady rock. Hartman back (possibly) and Juwan will be all over the place and then some. Next year feels like it rests heavily on Cujo/Davis/Green from my seat. Rojo is just freaking awesome. He is in a nice place mentally right now. He looks far more like a main pg than Newkirk at this point. I know it's all about the mins but if I'm coach Juwan and OG both start and Rojo can run the show. And I'm not sold on Greene replacing Newkirk. Greene is way too erratic and gambles. I'm just hopeful Josh puts it back together. He looked pretty good early on but is becoming really frustrating to watch. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

But with JN, he is going to start tonight and probably look extremely serviceable for the next few games. And then we will run into Louisville and be right here again. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

It's just always an odd spot for me when I'm trying to explain how I feel about Crean. Such a fantastic guy that will obviously run through a brick wall for his guys. The random stories about him seeing homeless people and buying them food but THEN sitting down with them and talking to them for like 30 mins. He is a giant killer most of the time (highly ranked teams), he usually has our guys playing out of their minds in Assembly Hall.. but he is also very predictable on certain matchups. He has given much more success than we have seen in many years. So I'm grateful on one hand. On the other I want to grab him by the tie and tell him to hit the elite eight or pack his bags. Really, I would feel great about an elite eight! 3rd point - We're in that spot where we have to snag an epic hire or it is literally not worth it. In my opinion, we should just keep Crean unless the home run comes along. I don't want to trade Crean in for the same success. I HATE that he has ruined recruiting in Indiana. Who do we have at this point? Hartman? It's atrocious and he should do whatever is in his power to right the ship. There is no reason we shouldn't have at least 25% of this team from Indiana. Why bring in a McSwain when a ton of super heady, been playing ball for 15 years, indiana obsessed, lower tier guys would probably kill for the stripes. That's I dunno, 3 years in a row on the fence with the guy. He wins me back then pushes me off again. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

I mean seriously, the game plan was to just give Newkirk the ball in crunch time so he could just drive and throw up that insanely low percentage shot from the right side of the board? Bonus with like 9:46 in the half.. so we just run around throwing up jumpers instead of driving and pounding it home. How Tom Crean doesn't tell the players "the next person who doesn't get the ball to or through the paint, will be pistol whipped".. is beyond me.. the only thing that could make sense is just that Crean doesn't think that's the best option. He's stuck on "creativity". It's just not and has never proven to be reliable. So why we wouldn't use a "reliable" set in crunch time, is baffling. Nope, let's just showcase the guards. A look at some advanced stats for our returning players
bleedhoosier replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thanks for the stats. As far as general discussion on Newkirk, he has hit shots at a higher rate then I thought he would and several of his 3s have been half way down so I am starting to feel more comfortable with him on the open 3. He also hit a nice mid range jumper the other day which was nice to see. His defense really helps our squad. Not what I would call a super heady player though, in regards to ball handling. I think we can all agree that Rojo is having a fantastic Junior campaign, thus far. Moving into the quiet leader spot. I think he is better at taking his man and finishing the play than Blackmon as well which gives me some thought into who I'd rather have with the ball in their hands in a crunch time moment. At the same time, still something I don't feel strongly about (rojo in crunch). I think he would be better suited to set him up to a catch, dribble move and shot situation. If it had to be catch and shoot, Blackmon for sure. NO ONE looks like they should just have the ball and make the play on their own. Hell, Bryant might be the right guy to give the ball too and let him make a move lol. He seems to be able to pull off some fairly awkward shots. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -
SEMO vs IU - 12/4 - 4:00 ET
bleedhoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Seriously though. Let's just accept now that Bryant is our 4 and Davis (I love) is our 5. Let these dudes run high low around each other. That's where Creans patented 3 man weave has SERIOUS potential. That was a neat wrinkle. Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

SIU-Edwardsville vs IU - 12/2 Game Thread
bleedhoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Small intangible, but I wish our bench was more excitable like we've seen in years past. Normally, anytime someone let's a 3 fly, half the bench is already standing up in anticipation. These guys just sit there. Just an observation from all the previous games. I'm nitpicking I know. Maybe too many new faces. Lol then u have Bryant out there randomly losing his mind. I love it Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

McRoberts seems to be very freshman Hartman-esque with better defensive potential. I still remember seeing Hartman playing his first several mins and thinking, this guy is going to be a rock for us in a few years. Anyone heard anything on Hartman yet? Would be fantastic to have both of these guys hanging around in the back half of the season when legs get tired. 2 Johnny on the spots Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app -

#348 MVSU vs. #3 Indiana Game Thread
bleedhoosier replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Will see if there's a replay but it's worth not getting worked up about just yet. We have all laughed at MSU and Louisville for dropping some head scratchers early on, in previous years. Let's wait a few more games and see how the team looks. We have a lot of new pieces working things out on the floor right now. No one looks settled in out there except for Rojo, OG and Blackmon. Even TB looks out of sync floating around the perimeter. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk -

Kudos to Johnson though. He's not a crunch time player (although I would give him a shot over blackmon). "Saved" us a few times tonight. Thought he played a pretty good game. Just frustrating.. how many free throws just wasted.. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I'm not watching but just can't understand why we play teams like this. Or at least, start with a few of these for the 1st 2 games of the season and then let's get it on! After opening with Kansas, it's just weird.. but very normal. The bad one is when we schedule on eof these games right before conference starts. It's just like COME ON ALREADY Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
