(2025) SG - Braylon Mullins
ziggyiu replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Just chill. He's gonna run it back. ; ) -
It's Fran that wants out of Iowa. Not necessarily Iowa that wants him out.

Just out of curiosity, what constitutes substance on a message board? For example, people coming to a thread to express their feelings about an issue to which that thread is dedicated, how does that rate on the substance scale? Or does one have to have new information (substance) to post in the thread? Are mere feels, musings, etc. frowned upon? If someone posts, "I hope we get news on Mullins commitment soon," is that substantive enough to not be frowned upon?

Thanks for the response. I was here for all the ngw drama and follow the tyme account. It's clearly someone connected, though I don't think it was a staff member directly. You make a good observation about the timing of games and posts.

From an outside perspective I can see it, but I also don't think he's that rude, dismissive, and insecure. I could see it being someone close to him. Often times the vitriol on social media is harder on friends and family. I have no clue, so don't get me wrong. I'm just curious when I ask: What makes you feel so strongly it's Ya?

He knows how to coach and run an organization. Maybe he'll see the mess as an opportunity to exert more control over the program. ; ) I know we'd give it to him.

I've seen other rumblings about him. Why doesn't he want to stay at UNC? -
Walk-ons can receive NIL. There just isn't much reason for it. NIL is simply paying for one's name, image or likeness. Any collective or business or individual can offer money to a walk-on to appear at an event, to promote something on his social media account or to hang his picture on a wall in a living room. They typically don't get much money--if any--because it makes more sense to pay the athletes who make a difference in winning or losing.

NCAA MBB Coaching Carousel

Don't know if UK will ask Drew or if he'd take it, but supposedly there's a good connection between him and the UK AD. -

Seeing all this makes me wish IU cared about basketball. -
It's interesting to hear so many comments about IU's terrible shooting. It's true. IU's shooting was very, very bad and the offense as a whole was horrific. It just seems like the atrocious defense gets lost sometimes. I read comments like MM's defense became ok toward the end of the season, for example; but it's not qualified by noting his defense was ok on a team that was terrible on defense. We can pay for better players, but if the schemes are the same it won't matter as much. Fire Mike Woodson.

Looks like he averaged less than one attempt per game. -
He was a winner at Wright State. He was a winner at UNC-W. He's given Clemson more success than they deserve considering the lack of resources provided. I know wouldn't be popular to hire him, but I think he's a good coach.
-
For me, the roster is secondary to the coach. This past season he had more star power than any other B1G school. He coached them to 10 losses in conference.
-
I honestly think it's money. For sure all the other usual stuff is addressed--how they'll be used, the academics, fan base, alumni network, nba connections, etc. Pitches are also tailored to the individual. They know through speaking with the kids and the people around him ahead of time what his priorities are so they can customize a visit to a certain extent.

There's activity on the recruiting board. There are new posts in the transfer threads. I just don't care because I know who'll coach them.* *This board is an IU community. This is the fire Mike Woodson thread for untrue fans. It just feels good to commiserate.

Never say never, but Ware and his people have been intent on leaving for NBA ASAP. They would have done so after his freshman year if he received better draft feedback. One of the main reasons he chose IU is that the staff promised to make him a focal point of the team and do everything to get him into the draft this year. -
This was my initial hope. I'm clinging to anything at this point. I hate facing the inevitable.
-
Why remove Pearl for next year? There are rumors our people chatted with his people this year.
-
Can you share the deets? I can't tune in.

It's rumored that his recruiting success at UK is based on impermissible benefits and NIL has leveled that playing field (somewhat). Any idea if that's true, and any notion why the recruiting success didn't translate to his head coaching tenure? Also, now that he's a spectacularly failed head coach, that may impact how recruits and their influencers view being coached by Kenny.
-
If we want to believe there will be a change, then we aren't real fans. If we aren't real fans what are we doing here? CMW and Leal have me really confused. Do I care about IU basketball or not? Things just got really existential for me.
-
Can someone post the AD and BoT emails again? I know it won't matter to them, but it will make me feel better to let them know how divisive and toxic the coach's comments were today.

I've never worked in a collegiate athletic department, so the following is an honest question. What makes Dolson unqualified? I know he had no prior AD experience, but that alone doesn't disqualify him. There are first ADs that succeed. We're told he's a great fundraiser. Does he not work well with others? Does he go rogue while making decisions? Does he not have the right priorities? Does he not have the right connections to outside sources? Is he too beholden to certain influencers inside the institution? This is all fascinating. Appreciate any insight.
