Well, when does the wrist-slitting party start? Got my razor... -
I think it's a wonderful sign!I hope enough of them are getting really upset and are going to start screaming "DO BETTER OR ELSE!"
-
I'm trying to follow/post on this forum less lately...cause I don't see much positive to post!

I'm not sure the administration refuses to settle until enough fans/big donors refuse to settle. It's the easy way out, ya know? "Things aren't great but they're not to bad. Let's not rock the boat!" that's settling. This program has not achieved sustained success in almost 25 years. I don't want 25 more years of mediocrity. Hell, 25 years from now I'm gonna be in my mid seventies and getting close to kicking the bucket! I want something to be excited about and root for NOW! UNC fans didn't wait very long to say they wanted Doherty gone. UK fans with Billy G? Same thing. Maybe I'm being a little selfish but...produce or get the hell outta the way and give someone else a shot! -
In Bozich defense. If DD is going to put his gripes out in a public forum then he should know that he's going to be criticized. There's no need to be condescending towards Bozich. I no longer live in the state and I travel quite a bit so at times it's hard for me to get info on IUBB so I use iheart to listen to DD and get info and opinions from him and others that call in. I really like DD and I enjoy his show but at times I feel he says things just to be outrageous and get pub.

I firmly believe that we as fans will get what we settle for. If we are willing to accept the current state of things that's all it's ever gonna be. If enough people really get vocal things will change. -
I can be a stat geek myself at times but the one stat that really sticks with me is w-l. I will say there are times that Crean will say so-and-so had a great game with x # of deflections and I think, huh? Didn't look like he had much to me. IDK I'd like him to define what he thinks a deflection is at times. There are times I think TW hours for deflections and just ends up being out of position...and others also. I think position is more important than deflection myself.

If all three come back (and I think they will) do you feel we will be drastically better?I don't see us being drastically better unless TW and JBJ progress and even then I don't think we'll be final four good unless some of the other personnel changes. To add our incoming recruits that have committed at least two present players will have to leave...and I don't see either of our recruits being difference makers. Especially in their first year. So to get a "difference maker"a third present player will have to leave. Who's leaving? What will they take from our present team? In all honesty the over signing is one of the things I find most distasteful about Crean. I don't follow recruiting as closely as I used to so I'm not positive but I don't believe most of the top programs are doing this. Maybe I'm wrong. Back To your original question. If all three come back next year I think we'll be a sweet sixteen club...and I'm not satisfied with that. I believe all three will definitely leave at the end of next year then...we're right back to last year and this year. -

I don't go from end to the other but I'll be honest. When they win I do get up a little. This program has been down for a long time and when I see a small glimmer of possible success I really want to grab on to it like a drowning man grabbing a piece of driftwood. My logical view of long term facts tells me that the future may not be very bright but I'm so damn tired of living in the pit of college basketball hell in darkness that I desperately wanna see light at the end of the tunnel! Alas, the light always seems to be the headlight of a train that's running over the prospects of my favorite college basketball team! Geez, and I'm a Reds fan and they're probably gonna suck next summer also...lol -
but did we get deflections? That's the important thing!

I am in total agreement with you and this is something I've stated all along. I DON'T want mediocre! Some will probably kill me for saying this but I'd rather we suck than be mediocre. Mediocre will bring us more years of the same thing. At least if we suck there will be no denying that we have to make a change. I really believe that for Crean it should be win big or go away time. I'm not saying this because I dislike Crean and want him gone. As a matter of fact it's just the opposite. I'd much rather see him get it together and start winning big and stay for a long time...but if he doesn't let's all move on. Get it done or go away! As I stated earlier I'm kinda willing to give him a pass on the first three seasons. The program was in shambles and he had to build it up. But the last 3.5 years?I think it's a disturbing trend. Only one of those years have we beat expectations. Zellers freshman year. His sophomore year? It was nice being ranked number one but when you get bounced in the sweet sixteen the number one ranking is kinda...meh. We have regressed from there. I see absolutely no way that Crean is gone after this season unless some type of off court issue of a large magnitude comes up. I do feel though that he should be made to understand after this season that next year is sink or swim. Elite eight or better...or your gone! Results matter! Do better. Consistently! If Glass has a problem firing Crean? Then somebody needs to tell him he's gone also! -

I see almost exactly what you see even though I so badly want to see otherwise! Recruiting, program running, player development, game preparation, and in-game coaching are all key ingredients to a successful coach/program and the only area I think we are above average in MIGHT be program running and with all the off court troubles lately I'm not so sure about that. I'm willing to throw out the first three years of Creans tenure. Program was a wreck and I think everyone concedes that. Just judging on the last four years. Is this what we're willing to settle for?I hope not!I wanna win...every year...and be nationally relevant EVERY year! WE AREN'T CLOSE! -
The majority of them waited until IU won a few games then said, "see,I told you so. You all jumped the gun on Crean". More than likely they'll do the same if Indiana flushes their season down the drain. I know that as a fan I get worked up over almost every game. Either good or bad. But in the back of my mind I know that in time what kind of team/coach we have will show out. The blueprint for beating IU is out there and I have to believe that more and more teams are going to use this blueprint. I have a feeling that the next few weeks as an IUBB fan are not gonna be fun but I can live with that if I see hope on the horizon. The problem?I keep looking at the horizon...and I don't see to much hope.

Uhhhh, is that what we're bragging about now? Lol I know what you mean but as an IU fan I'm tired of settling for consolation prizes. I wanna win! BIG!
-
Long term I think Indiana might have their best lineup on the floor right now. Holt, Williams, and Hartman give them a little size but Hartman gives them a third shooter.

Didn't take long to scratch that itch, huh? Lol -
Wonder if they still want that update on Hartman?

Who are we losing to get Bryant? We're already over signed by two. Means three would have to go.

I've been one of the ones who've criticized Crean at times and he deserved it at times. I've also tried to be complimentary at times when I felt he deserved it. My dad used to tell me when I was a kid, "son, some people live and learn and others just go through life. Which one are you gonna do? Your choice" Hopefully Crean is one of those who is "living and learning" There's really nothing wrong with criticism as long as it's fair and not malicious. As for the article. It's nice but it's easy to wait until there is some success and kinda say I told ya so.

TW stays and continues to improve,JBJ continues to improve,RJ improves, Hanner gets his head outta his arse, Holt continues to improve...He may not need to go LOOKING for a team ready to make a FF run. I've seen improvement in maturity, leadership, and trust in teammates since the season began for Yogi.

(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

It's hard to say for sure right now but I think you are right about Troy. He seems to be progressing/developing at a pretty high rate. He's the one player on this team who I feel really has the ability to eventually excel at the next level. I'd really like to see him stay for his junior year but if he keeps developing I would not be surprised to see him leave at all. If JBJ leaves I think it would be a big mistake. Right now he just doesn't seem to have the ability to get his own shot at all. You can tell he's been well taught in some of the finer points of playing winning basketball. He does a lot of the smaller things well. I've been pretty impressed with his rebounding. His ability to stay in front of other players on defense though isn't great. Don't know how much he can improve athleticism through training but he needs to work on it. Not saying he's terrible but he's not outstanding. I think in the right situation Yogi can play at the next level. -
