    Potential coaching change suggestions

Not sure about everyone else but reading today about Creans buyout being spread out over several years and the fact that if he takes a job elsewhere it effects the amount he gets made me feel that a split might be much more likely than I thought. Ten to twelve mil? That's a big chunk of change! but when it's spread over several years? Not so much. I personally don't feel Crean would just set on the sidelines for that long. He'd either take another position coaching or do tv work which would significantly lessen the hit IU would take, hence making it much easier to swallow/sell for donors. For the record, I'm not sure Stevens would be the first I'd offer it to. I'd personally rather see them call Billy D up down in Florida and ask, are you interested? What would it take? Stevens would probably be my second choice (although I'm not sure he'd leave Boston) Marshall/A Miller would more than likely be my third call if the first two failed.
  2. I've never been a huge fan of Crean but as recently as about three weeks to a month ago I was taken to task by a couple of people who thought I was too rash and harsh in my judgement of Crean. After some consideration I thought maybe I was so I've not made to many comments lately and have tried to hope for the best...nope! I think I was right! He's just mediocre.
  3. It's funny how quickly things can change. About three weeks ago there were some of us saying Crean wasn't cutting the mustard and there were others who were really bashing is saying we had no idea how great of job Crean was doing and all the talking heads were on their side. Crean was marvelous. Funny how 3/4 weeks can change things. He's reached his level I believe. This is who he is. You question is...are we willing to be satisfied with THIS as the state of IUBB? I hope not
  4. This is the first time I've ever turned off an IUBB game when I had nothing else to do. The state of mind that most of you seemed to have reached emotionally and mentally is the state of mind I was in after the first Purdue game. I'm tired of mediocre! I haven't posted/commented/or read to much since then. It's terrible to not be able to root for them wholeheartedly but I can't because I truly believe that if they win just enough all they are going to do is keep a coach that is going to win just enough year to year to stay mediocre! I'd rather flame out so that there is no choice but to change than to continue accepting mediocrity.

    Upset with recruiting?

Just to play this through. Yogi, Hanner, and NZ all graduate so they'll be gone whether Crean is here or not. TW and JBJ are going pro after next year if they can whether Crean stays or goes. Soooo...OG and Morgan? From what I've read neither of them are going to make or break us as a high level program. I personally don't care whether Crean stays or goes. I have no hatred for him. I think in many areas he's done a pretty good job but there are a lot of coaches who can do a good job on those areas. The ones who do a good job in those areas (mostly off-court) and win big consistently? That's what I wanna see. I'm getting to old to be patient! Lol if Crean can get it done great! If not? Look elsewhere.

    Upset with recruiting?

I do feel that the right coach could step in and have success immediately. I'm not a Crean fan or hater. I don't want much. Just win...a lot! Lol

    Upset with recruiting?

I personally am not satisfied with our record on the floor. I'll give him a pass on the first two years but from the third year on I don't feel we've excelled. Yes we did well the two years Cody was in Bloomington but I personally don't think the sweet sixteen is excelling for IUBB. You stated that if Crean was terminated the new coach would have to start all over and the work invested in recruits would be wasted. To Mr that is defeatist thinking. In two years if we've stayed at the same level what is the prognosis then? We can't make a change because then those two years would be wasted? All that said I'm not necessarily advocating getting rid of Crean immediately. There have been times after certain losses that I wouldn't have shed many tears if he was gone by sunup but after a night to calm down I usually return to the thought that barring a total collapse or major scandal he should get this season and next. Concerning the other part of my post. When have you ever heard analyst/commentators really criticize current coaches?

    Upset with recruiting?

Sooo...don't make a change because it might be worse? Settle for mediocre? And for your other comment about those "on the ground". The times that they criticize each other are few and far between. Js

    Upset with recruiting?

I'd rather we just leave the scholly open than tie it for four years on a player we HOPE can contribute in their third or fourth year.

    2015 NBA Draft...

If Troy can continue to hit threes like Jr did yesterday he's darn near unguardable. Now through the end of the year isn't a real big sample size but you never know. JBJ isn't ready yet...but he's definitely got potential. Yogi has really made strides in a lot of areas. His decision making has really advanced this year. I'm not sure he can do a whole lot to improve his stock.

    Max Hoetzel starts a petition

My first job out of high school in the early eighties I worked with a guy who was a Vietnam vet. Took a few years but he did talk to me a little. Some of the things he told me of his experience were pretty crazy.

    Max Hoetzel starts a petition

Amen. I've always avoided speaking to them about it because I know some don't like to speak about it but a couple of times lately I've asked where they've been and told them thanks for their service. That can be some really tough stuff to deal with. REALLY tough!

    Recruiting

I really think the improvement of TW,Holt and JBJ will have more impact on next season than anything else. Hopefully they TW and JBJ both return. I think it would be in the best interest of both TW and JBJ to return but 20 year olds don't always do what's in their best interest. If TW improves his mid-range/perimeter game it would allow him to play more as a big guard/wing instead of the four. It's where he will play in the NBA and if he improves enough to play there at the college level he will be close to unstoppable. If TW/JBJ/Holt were all capable of being on the floor with Yogi and Perea...that's a lineup that has the potential to be really good IMO.

I do agree on your statement regarding farmers but I would say that it is somewhat cruel. My father-in-law used to raise hogs and I've spent many a day helping him. He didn't raise them in confinement crates. He felt it led to disease.

Amen to that. After we get done taking care of all our vets and others who are disadvantaged in this country THEN and only then should we consider money to other countries. Just my opinion but I'm partial towards those who put their lives on the line to protect me and my freedoms.
