  1. I love IU and it's history but I also feel like having an Indiana guy is getting a little old. It seems that everyone is just throwing out names of former players and most of them don't have an coaching experience. Just because someone played here doesn't mean they will know how to coach. I think with this new start to IU's history with Archie we need to throw our support behind him and whoever he picks as his staff. He has a vision for how he wants his staff and team to work and I trust him to do that. As far as the state and area go it looks like he is already making ground with that. Southport's coach was at Archie's intro press conference as a personal invite from Coach Miller. I've read where he has already been reaching out to Indiana coaches and making good contacts.
  2. That's obviously their job. But blaming someone blowing an ACL on a coach is ridiculous as people have done. They are usually either freak injuries or happen to guys who have previous injuries. That was my whole point. I keep seeing people blaming Anderson for knee injuries but we had injuries as well when Jackson was here. Of course it's their job to try to help players build their body to prevent injuries but literally every team had freak injuries.
  3. OGs injury has not hurt his stock with NBA teams. He is still projected to go mid 1st round in almost every mock draft all season long. He will go in the first. Plenty of teams at the bottom of the 1st round where there won't be urgency to have to play. They will give him all the time to rehab and be 100% before playing again. Happened this last year with Caris Lavert from Michigan. He was drafted 20th by Brooklynn and was not rushed back and ended up having an extremely good rookie year after being out his senior year. OG will be a 1st round pick
  4. Well I never said that the trainers and strength and conditioning coaches had no impact. Not sure where you got that The last few seasons, after having players become so fatigued towards they end of every season ( think Syracuse games) Crean implemented a change is practice schedules and routine. That plays a big factor. I know that the strength and condition make an impact but people are saying players are getting injured because of it and that just isn't true.
  5. It's not like we were injury free with Jackson. One thing that has been different with Lyonel is that we don't see the players exhausted and dead legs at the end of the year like in previous. But in all honesty I don't think injuries or fatigue have anything to do with the trainers or strength coaches.
  6. Jefferies is working in the Denver Nuggets front office and has his own tv show. I don't think he would give that up to be an assistant coach. This offseason has already been crazy so I guess anything is a possibility though

(2017) PG McKinley Wright to Colorado

No you cannot. It's against NCAA rules.

    Welcome Coach Miller

My favorite part of Woj's tweet was he ended it "(IU isn't interested)".
  9. I'm hoping when the new coach is announced that he will change his mind. Time will tell

    Welcome Coach Miller

None of these former players that have coached in the NBA have had much real success in coaching and I'm pretty sure Glass talked about candidates who've had success. They will all get a shot at an interview but if we would've been better off with Crean over Wittman, Smart, or Mike Woodson.

    I agree!

Glass won back my support with that press conference. I enjoyed hearing him say that money won't be an issue in getting who they want. I also like that he plans to reach out to High school and AAU coaches in Indiana and the Midwest. That's the only way we will be consistent is to continually be in the running for top talent in the area. Don't have to lock down the state but we need to be pulling from the best talent every year in recruiting. Whoever we get I believe Glass will have done his homework and will get us the best coach available.

Over on 247 there are of course some interesting theories. Someone thought that maybe the replacement is already lined up, hence no search committee...seems logical. I guess we will see in the upcoming weeks

At this point the buyout doesn't really seem to be an issue because as soon as he gets any sort of other job (coaching, commentary, etc) the amount IU has to pay him goes down

I sat behind the Bellarmine bench when they played at Assembly Hall this year and after that it's a definite NO

Allen only has five years of coaching experience? Everything I have read and seen shows his coaching career dating back to the early 90s in high school football and he started coaching in college in 2007?

    Troy Williams Decision

I just don't see it. All of the takeaways from the Combine was that he was underwhelming in every aspect. His play in the 5 on 5 didn't really show an NBA player according to everything I've read.

He said in an interview at the combine that he has two more classes plus an internship to complete before he graduates

2016 (F) Freddie McSwain Jr. to IU

So basically you are telling us something we all already know. The scouting report was that he was very athletic, a great rebounder, and needed work on his jumpshot....

Van Fleet from Wichita State was selected as an alternate as well. Another All-American. Kind of ridiculous that neither one was invited.

Michigan has been open about forcing players out lately. Same with Duke. Its hardly just a problem at IU.

    Declaring early for the draft

Maybe I missed it somewhere but I just read online that Vince Edwards is testing the NBA draft waters..... I feel bad for a lot of these kids that I see declaring. Granted Edwards and multiple others aren't hiring agents but its still scary.
