Tom Pritchard's put back dunk vs Minnesota has to be one of the best. -
(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo
Kepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'm guessing the only reason the kid didn't get in anywhere was his grades like it was reported. If he can play, why not watch him and see his development. He was already a pretty good player per reports, if he gets better it could be a good pick up for us. -
You can't compare the competition level that he played against with George Washington with what we faced in the big ten. I give them credit for making it to the tournament. Did we give up on him? There was nothing official stating that they just kicked him out. He said at the end of the year that he wanted to be closer to home to play and so I think that he did just that. There are no facts to support your claim that we "gave up" on him or forced him out. Just remember that Creek got hurt in the tournament and they lost in the second round which, according to people around him, is just as unacceptable as even making the tournament hahah.

(2015) C Stephen Zimmerman to UNLV
Kepner replied to JSHoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
If this kid can't see the similarities between himself and Zeller, he's blind haha. I actually think he looks more polished and more aggressive than Zeller was coming out of high school. It would be a game changer if he came -
I'll give you that on Watford. Hard to believe that he was actually that far up in the rankings( I just looked it up on espn). Elston was a 4 star, kid was a beast in high school. Creek was also in the top 100. Hulls was only a 3 star with two offers coming out of high school , but his production changed a lot of that. Its interesting to look at it all. Thanks for the info. Here's to hoping 2015 and all future classes turns out a lot better than 2012 haha
-
How would it not? Two 4 stars and a 5 star in one class? Sure "The Movement" was highly ranked but look how that panned out. Last year's class had Stan, Troy, Vonleh and Fischer all in the top 100 but it's still early for that class. We can go back and look at the classes that brought in Jordy and Watford, but those guys weren't highly recruited out of high school. Zeller was the only big recruit in his class. Like someone else said, it's early to tell but if you look at it rankings wise, this would be one of Crean's top classes in my opinion

I was not bashing anyone in any way, all I was saying was that I thought that was the reason he was not coming to IU. I didn't bash a single person. Now someone else is making assumptions. Dude its a message board, calm down

Keith Smart Hired as Miami Heat Asst. Coach
Kepner replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Happy for Keith Smart, just wish it wasn't with the Heat hahah. -
I read through same of Lamb's tweets. One of my favorites was he said that it was "a shame that there aren't a lot of girls out there that have graduated high school and college". Of course I actually used spelling and grammar, he did not. Tons of people commented back to him to help him remember that he didn't graduate either. What an idiot hahah
-
So from now on, just for you, I will begin every one of my posts with "In my opinion". Of course everyone on here is speaking their opinion..its a freaking message board hahaah. If anything anyone said was a fact, they would probably be working as an analyst. you don't agree with my OPINION of Bluiett, I got that after the first time you made it known. Thank you. hahah
-
You evidently didn't read my post very well….I added in there that I know it was just an all star game. but when all the other players were looking to set each other up the whole game, then you have ONE player out of both squads that doesn't want any part in sharing the rock, its just an interesting thing to notice. I forgot that everyone else here backs up their claims with facts. Oh wait…...

(2015) SG LaGerald Vick to Kansas
Kepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Same team as Nick Marshall and OG ? -
Well you answered your own question. You said his "wanting to be the man" didn't jive with his interest in MSU and his commitment to UCLA. Well I don't know if you knew this but he chose Xavier, not MSU, not UCLA, not anywhere where he is really going to have to compete to get his shots or comets to get into the starting lineup. Sorry I can't seem to pull up any article that has a direct quote from Bluiett saying "Yes, in fact dear sir, I desire to be the number one option and not play under anyone". But if you watch the way he plays and how his whole recruitment went down, its pretty easy to make some pretty strong "assumptions". After all we are on a message board where everyones post are 99% assumptions……...

No one can ever knock Crean with the whole Mo Creek situation. The guy got a million chances at IU. Crean gave him chance after chance and I think in the end he saw that the coaching staff was too worried about his injury history to give him the playing time he thought he deserved, so he transferred and did fairly well (albeit at a much lower competition level). Same could be said with guys like Hollowell and Etherington. Hollowell was a freakin starter for part of last year but had no inklings of desire or fire in him at all. Etherington, a "shooter" that passed up every open shot he probably every had. I think Crean grew frustrated with him because of this as well. I honestly think the only reason he played so much last year was because of our lack of depth, nothing else. He looked scared out there! I didn't lose sleep about any one of these transfers and no one else should have either. Crean is not running players off, but a lot of the time players can read the writing on the wall. they can stay and ride the bench (deservingly) or transfer somewhere else and play. I think it's for the best in both situations

How doesn't it "jive" with the whole idea he chose to not go to MSU and he decommitted from UCLA. He chose Xavier, where he will start from day 1 and be the man on the team. The kid can score no doubt. I saw him play with the Indiana all stars and I counted the number of times he passed in the half court offense….big fat 0. I know its an all star game but the rest of the squad was still playing team ball. He has a great game but definitely is a me first type player. This is another classic example of a kid having no interest in even coming to Indiana and all people want to do is blame Crean for something.

That still three weeks of classes
-
The real question is , if he hasn't even been admitted to the school yet, how would he academically be able to play this year. We are over a month into the academic year so he would've missed over a month of school and classes. Athletes get it real nice in college. All the benefits. Oh but wait, they are being deprived and the schools are taking advantage of these kids blah blah blah blah blah

(2015) SG LaGerald Vick to Kansas
Kepner replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
When will these "highlight" videos ever stop? It is just like 2 minutes of dunks and doesn't really show much about the player -
Again, this shows why I trust Crean. The kids we get are here to play ball and are not worried about crap like that.
-
Well we went after Blackmon Jr hard and guess what…….WE GOT HIM. Blueitt made it known that he wanted nothing to do with IU and the same could be said with Lyle
-
Bluiett wanted to be THE man. He didn't play play beneath Yogi or JBJ's shadow

Sports Illustrated Ranks Nation's Best Guards
Kepner replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Last time I checked Hollowell wasn't a freshman last year and he was probably the biggest problem of the whole group -
Yeah I think he is starring in the new Dracula movie

Sports Illustrated Ranks Nation's Best Guards
Kepner replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't have an specific source I can quote but there were two or three legitimate sources at the time that reported that he was sitting out to protect his status. I mean it can be argued a million ways as to why would he even play if there was nothing to play for, but I think it just shows what kind of player and person someone is if they are worried about themselves or are truly at a school for the team and whatnot. Here lately I've really bought into the idea that last year's team really wasn't united in any sense of the way. I think there were a lot of egos and head cases on last years team, hence why they did't play well as a team and didn't do well overall. It seems that so far it has changed so far, and I think it will be WAY different this year.
