(2015) SG Corey Johnson to Harvard
Kepner replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think the coaching staff has learned recently that its better to be prepared haha. Never stop recruiting -
I understand. I'm not a huge fan of people taking shots at players that have transferred and Im also not a fan of people taking shots of new players on the team. There are a few players that have transferred that I am more than happy that they have left though. I won't lie, I was beyond glad to see Hollowell go, he was one of the most frustrating players to watch. Everybody has their own opinion

We were leading according to the guys who are "experts" and change their mind every couple of days hahahah. Im just kidding, but in all seriousness I doubt it had much to do with Noah. When Goodluck committed, IU was only 4 games into their season, so I personally don't think Noah said anything.

6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers
Kepner replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I like your point. I was mainly pointing out that he compared Hoetzel taking Jeff Howard's spot and Zeisloft taking Etherington's spot. Even if Hoetzel and Zeisloft score a bucket or two every game, that will be more offensive input that Howard or Etherington had. I, like everyone else on this message board, am talking hypothetical situations -
(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami
Kepner replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think the Kyle Guy ship may have sailed. IU was the first to offer him and recruit him pretty hard but he never seemed too excited by it. He was always tweeting very excitedly about his other offers from other schools. If he isn't interested at all and we are loaded at guard, do we give up or keep going? I question if its even worth investing time if he has no interest -

Youtube and google go a long way hahah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgTTf9JZiTc (from two years ago) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZR4Wcmf26s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7eMZ0zSl2k Most all the videos are from two years ago, but the kid has a great shot and seems pretty athletic -
All I say is that athletes get a nice gig. The medical, books, life training, summer school/5th year, computer and equipment. Summer school at Indiana college is VERY expensive and most schools in Indiana charge you a lot more if you study a 5th year. Not to mention the academic advising and tutoring that they receive.

I once had a dream that I played in the NBA, close enough hhaha

I do see how it could happen, but I think its a lot of speculation. If someone had come out and say "they pushed me out of the program, they told me they didn't want me here anymore" than the whole "pushed out" conspiracy theory would be more believable. I have played on club teams and I know that when you see that you aren't going to get playing time at the spot you desire, you leave for another squad. And I think that is the case with guys most of the guys. Like you've told me before, if you don't have facts or an article, its your opinion. I think thats what we have with your statement now

According to rivals , espn, and 247 sports, he only had offers from Indiana and Purdue. But he had interest from Duke, Butler, Wake Forest, and Stanford.

I didn't know playing sports in college was a requirement to posting on this site hahah. That came out of left field.

6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers
Kepner replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I said Sheehey of last year. Sure he won us games in the last few years but last year was a let down Sheehey was a let down for me. It was his time to shine and he really disappeared till towards the end of the season. No one will ever be able to replace the fire that Sheehey brought but I think he was the ultimate 6th man. Last year he just wasn't very consistent like the team needed. I think Rob Johnson will bring the same , if not more, production in the scoring category. -

Schools these days discuss it ALOT. When it comes down to it though, students make their own decisions and sometimes those decisions are really stupid. -

I think the big difference in these comparisons is that this year we have more guys who can be relied upon for scoring on a frequent basis. Etherington, Gordon, Hollowell and Howard couldn't be counted upon to score on a regular basis. Their "replacements" (by your comparison) Blackmon, Zeisloft, and Hoetzel will be able to score on a regular basis. I also think that Rob Johnson will end up being more reliable this year than Sheehey was last year -
I agree 100% with you. Seems like too many people are taking their frustrations out on these kids who chose to come here and praising the kids who chose to leave the program. As Indiana fans we should support those who have the desire to put on the candy stripes, not constantly complain about them. It makes me laugh that tons of people on here constantly wine that we don't have experience upperclassman but at the same time those same people want to run players off before they even take the court! Ridiculous I agree with you rebelhoosier

Hoetzel and Priller are not the same player. Hoetzel is an inch or two smaller than Priller. Hoetzel can drive the ball at shoot the long ball, whereas Priller excels in the pick and pop and pick and roll game. They both are outstanding shooters. I think we are in for a treat at Hoosier Hysteria this year and during the season to have some great shooters who can really drain it from deep. We have Yogi, JBJ, Rob Johnson, Zeisloft, Priller, and Hoetzel who can all drain it from deep. Comparing that to last years roster is scary!

I wasn't trying to say that April and Priller are the same type of player as all the players that I listed. I'm just saying that we have had players before that weren't super highly recruited and I think there should be an option to bring in a few unknowns every now and then. Not a big deal. By the way, as I've learned from people around here..just because a school has interest in a player, doesn't mean jack. (i.e. Duke's "high interest" in Hulls). If we want to count interest as something then April had serious interest from Marquette and Arizona State. Priller had serious interest from Miami, Texas Tech, and Arkansas. Not big ten schools, but competitive D1 schools

WEll it differs from site to site. One of the recruiting websites I looked at had Roth and Abell as two star recruits coming out of high school, Hulls and Verdell Jones as low 3 stars and Sheehey as a low 3 as well.

I'll give you that credit. When I saw that we got him as a grad transfer and I looked at his stats from his last school, I was disappointed. But I did some snooping around and found out that his team at Illinois St was also a school that featured a fast subbing offense. They subbed in and out at a very fast pace. When I saw him play in a few of the games in Canada, I was very impressed by how he carried himself and how he played. Like I said, I think he is an improvement over several of the players we had on the team last year. the jury is still out on how he is, but if you have several coaches and insiders are hinting at him being a possible starter, that means something. I mean we are the ones sitting at home typing on a message board and they are getting paid to do their job with the team. -
I understand and agree except with the last part, I think as a team we have to be able to take a risk every now and then. There is a long list of players that came into IU as 3 star recruits(Hulls, Verdell Jones, Sheehey as examples) and ended up being great players for IU. Even some 2 star recruits who received very little to no offers (Abell and Roth). I agree it probably shouldn't be two or three every year but there has to be an option. Maybe he hasn't replaced 5 star big men with 5 star big men, but Crean has consistenly brought in high 4 star recruits and a 5 star last few years.

I was being sarcastic with the begging comment. From what I've gathered about the Jurkin transfer, he felt his injury was healed and he wanted to play, and the coaching staff didn't see much light at the end of the tunnel of his injury history and he wasn't going to see much playing time because of it. So he transferred to whatever small school he went to where they are going to let him play. Btw the original poster said Jurkin and April were pretty comparable , with Jurkin being a bit more polished in "CERTAIN AREAS". Crean has commented that April is one of the best passing big men he's seen and has a great jump shot. Jurkin was known for his shot blocking so that was probably one of his areas. If April as a freshman is "pretty comparable" to Jurkin as a junior, that speaks volumes. If April doesn't work out here, he will also find a situation where he can get more playing time. Nothing is set in stone.

6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers

Well I tend to base my opinions on players based on how they PLAY instead of just making a final judgement about them as a player and member of our team without really seeing them play like a lot on here tend to do haha -

So are you arguing that we should've begged and pleaded with Jurkin for him to stay? I swear some of you guys on here just like to bring up stuff to argue and create drama hahahah.
