This game is developing into some horrendous ref ball for Texas.

* Empire Classic * Indiana vs. UCONN Sunday 11/19/2023 1 pm ESPN @MSG

Anyone else notice UConn was the only team to get a band, student section, and cheerleaders at the game? What was going on there? Neither Texas or Louisville have that at msg either. -
(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland
Hoosier Roots replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think Tyrese Hunter and Nijel Pack were in the portal that year. Not saying we should only rely on the transfer portal, I just think it’s a pretty good place to turn to. Anyways derik queen isn’t in the transfer portal so it doesn’t matter. -

I think 10-15 guys that have a pretty good chance to be star level players for good teams along with plenty of guys who have proven that they can be decent players at the college level isn’t a bad market to have to turn to in my opinion. Helps that you have past college performance to judge these guys on. -

Disagree. Hunter Dickerson was literally the best player available in the recruiting market last season and it seemed like there were about 10-15 other guys in the portal that should be absolute difference makers for their teams. Whether it’s dudes moving up from low/mid majors or P5 guys looking for better fits, there will be very good players available in the portal. -

119th in the composite definitely isn’t low. -

(2024) - PG Boogie Fland to Kentucky

“They didn’t play but they touched NBA waters” is a pretty strange way to describe our coaching staff’s background. Makes me wonder if he actually knows anything about Mike Woodson. -

Can someone remind me what his connection is to cinci that is keeping them in this? Just seems like an odd fit. -
No NBA arena captures even 1/10 of the magic that makes Assembly Hall, Cameron Indoor, of Phog Field house special. The only exception would be like Madison Square Garden.

Being the team to beat to land top 10 burger boys is definitely something I could get used to -
2023 SF/PF Mackenzie Mgbako to Texas A&M via Portal

When was the last time we beat out Kansas for a big time recruit like this? I know we’ve had some blockbuster battles with UK and UNC, especially under Crean, but seriously when was the last time we went toe to toe with Kansas or Duke and came out on top? -
(2025) - PG/SG Kiyan Anthony to Syracuse

Would be pretty sweet to have Carmelo pulling up to Assembly Hall on a regular basis. That’s a dude who still has a lot of clout with most kids. -

This is one of the most peculiar recruitments I think I have ever seen on this board. Advising your client to turn down larger compensation packages from two massive basketball brands with strong NBA pipelines for a program that was literally the worst team in college basketball last season is extremely strange advice. I mean for Christ sake a Kansas alum was just named MVP and CMW must be one of the most well NBA connected coaches in CBB. If that doesn’t bode well for a second NBA contract I dont know what would. I wonder if this is being driven by some sort of internal agency politics or some angle from his agent and MM is receiving some shaky advice rather than having a real conviction to go to Louisville? -
YEAHYUH let’s throw everything we have at this kid

Yeah it seems like every year I meet a decent amount of people from colleges and cities surrounding IU/ Indiana out at bars or parties. -
Honestly sounds like something that would have happened at IU under previous administrations.

Can’t say how happy I am that we’re finally the ones outbidding for top talent and not getting burned in these kind of recruitments. -

Seems like the kind of player that just has a bag. It’s a draw string bag from the YMCA rec league but still a bag. -

Moving to Manhattan from Bloomington this fall and was not looking forward to not being able watch in person IU games for the first time in my life. Love this.
