Oh hey, the game ended. Indiana v. IPFW post-game thread
Lt. John McClaine replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It seems hat we still struggle to feed the post , Bryant should of a had a field day but because we don't know now to run any plays for him he's just left getting the scraps from the guards. Troy had turnovers in the1st half,Good Job Troy! -

Bryant, Davis, OG, & Morgan is the deepest FrontCourt we've had since 01-02 with Jeffries, Odle, Newton, & Leach. This is awesome. -

Indiana defeats Ottawa 82-54 - Post-Game Thread
Lt. John McClaine replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Just got done watching it! And man am I excited that basketball is back. With the weather being nice it seems earlier than usual. Did anyone else notice that are shorts are slightly different? We have 5 Stars on the back and the IU on the side is bigger. They look nice. -
It was ok, it's always a cool night. The videos they showed were nice and touching, the Womens team was funny, the three point shoot out was cool, and it's just always nice to see the guys personalities. The dunk contest can be awkward at times just because some of the guys just aren't great dunkers. All in all, it was about what I expected. The wife and I make the 45 minute trip south every year just to get on campus and check everything out for a free night of hoops. It is what it is, Go Hoosiers.

[attachment=2771:Garage IU pic II.jpg]Always a high point of the year for me. I always have to get one. Usually, i pick them up at Hoosier Hysteria, back in the day i'd get them at banks, but it's harder to find them now. If I'm desperate i'll get them from the bookstore. I go all the way back to 83. Got the shrine in my garage. -

So funny, Crean is hated on for not recruiting Indiana kids, then he lands one and people say the kid isn't worth a scholly. Ahhhhhhhhhh you're killing me. -

Possible 4-Star Forward Addition For This Coming Season?
Lt. John McClaine replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I worry about guard depth but it's not like Troy and Collin are not capable of playing on the perimeter. I still think that Crean uses the last scholly. History tells us that he will. -

2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread
Lt. John McClaine replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Don't we have enough forwards, already? Plus we don't seem to take too many transfers in the Crean era, I doubt we lend a scholly to a kid that would have to sit out a year. -
Pacers in the summer league.
Lt. John McClaine replied to FKfootball's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know it was just summer league but if the tables were turned and it was Roy Hibbert playing in this game, do we actually think that he'd put up the same numbers? The speed of the game really just seems to have passed Roy by. I'm extremely excited about the prospect of Miles Turner. For many big men their jump shot is the last thing that comes around in their development, Miles already has a very soft touch. I'm hoping that the Pacers got their Center of the Future, because like many Pacers fans, I'm so done with HIbbert. -
Robert Johnson is freakin stacked!

A lot of IU fans shared that sentiment, Steeler. You could tell after a few games of watching both Hanner and Emmitt play, that Emmitt was the better "basketball player." He may not have had the huge vertical, but he got open, cut to the rim, got rebounds, moved his feet on defense, he just looked like a better coached and more natural basketball player. And that's not me taking a cheap shot at Hanner, just how I feel about Emmitt's game.

2015 Brodricks Jones
Lt. John McClaine replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I just don't think that we need another front court player. With Thomas, Max, Emmitt, Juwan, and even Collin, where is another front court player gonna get any minutes? If we bring in another player, which I don't think that we will, I'd want another guard as an insurance policy in case one of our 4 guards gets hurt. -
I agree, Woody. I just hope that Crean won't be afraid to get away from small ball. I almost think that this year with only 4 guards on the roster that we'll have to play 2 or 3 forwards on the floor with 2 guards. With Rob Johnson really being our only backup point guard, I can see him being our 6th man in certain situations. If that ever occurs, then i'd really like to see Emmitt slide in and be a starter in the frontcourt with Thomas Bryant, and then we roll with Troy, James jr, and Yogi. I really like the idea of Emmitt getting more run with the starters because he can play Defense and give us more size. I just don't think we can play so small again like we did last year, and I think that Emmitt is the guy that will benefit if Crean chooses to go bigger. Some will say start Collin to stretch the floor, and I can see that too, but Emmitt is a far better defender in my opinion.
-
I really really like Emmitt Holt, and I'm pleased to hear that he's doing well. He has such an old school game, and what I really noticed last year about him is the lack of Freshman mistakes on the floor. Rarely did he make a bad pass or not make a cut. I'm excited about his progress and interested to see if he and Thomas Bryant can get some run together at the same time, after all they both know each other from their time in New York. I hate to compare players, but I'd like to see Emmitt go the way of a Brandon Dawson type of player from Mich St. They're about the same size and I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Emmitt could develop into a very valuable defensive player. If he gets a perimeter game this year, than look out. We are gonna be so good this year!

Now that thons off the board for this season
Lt. John McClaine replied to drewheck's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That's a lot of minutes, homie. At this point I don't care if we bring somebody in or not. It would definitely have to be the right situation for a recruit because they would have to figure that with our depth they wouldn't get much run. -

Lt. John McClaine replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Can't think of anyone in my time wearing #31. I like it, and I can't wait to see Bryant play with our returning players. We have for the first time in a while a very balanced team, with many different pieces to the puzzle. The thing that I'm really looking forward to watching is which Sophomore has progressed the most from their Freshman year. -
