Can Indiana be a consistent winner under Coach Crean?
Hutch89 replied to Hoosier Cowboy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"indefinite pass"? no way, Jose. No one has said or agrees with that. He deserves time towards greatness, but not much more of it. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -
JB2's going to need to bulk up with Je'ney before he would be ready for the NBA. They're huge at the next level. Shouldn't take too much time though, I mean Yogi coming into his 2nd year looked like his arms would be taking over the rest of his body by the end of the season lol

I agree, just based on the 1 or 2 videos i've seen plus just pictures of the guy, he looks a lot more athletic. His shooting stats in highschool seem to show he's a pretty good shot also. that FT% doh! -

You had me thinking this was a 2014 guy! I wish, but still, another highly ranked big for 2015 class. ADD HIM TO THE LIST! -
I was thinking of how great it was that Crean offered a scholly to both Thon and his little brother Matur. Such a smart move. I'm hoping that puts us above the others trying to recruit Thon. It definitely will make IU stand out more in their household and in conversations they have about where they might want to play. PLUS, Matur will be a beast too, so i'm glad we offered early to that big guy.

groundbreaking news! An inside sauce of mine tells me that Crean and family loves Pizza Hut... "It's a family favorite", said Crean, on multiple occasions. If he would be a Papa Johns type of guy instead, we would no doubt be able to obtain a few more wins and get to the crust of the NCAA tourney this next season. You can take this slice of information with a grain of salt, but no doubt that it's very saucy stuff. -
(2015) SG Prince Ali to UCLA
Hutch89 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I love the fact that this kid is from the same highschool as Sheehey. In the ITH article, Prince Ali said he has Sheehey's phone number and would give him a ring if he needed to know anything about Indiana. Sheehey would represent our program/school very well IMO. Could be a very effective recruiting tool for us, especially since Sheehey seemed to really love his time at IU and spent all 4 years with us, saw the worst and the best years. -

It would be fun to follow his summer league progress. Looking forward to it! Also, (random), but it would be really awesome if IU held a scrimmish game consisting of alot of recent past IU players, whether they are playing pro overseas or not. Hulls, elston, sheehey, Pritchard, watford, verdell, etc... Heck, IU might as well just steal my paycheck, would be way too cool. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Indiana Student-Athlete Bill of Rights
Hutch89 replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
For those of you that don't have a subscription to "INDY STAR". Here's another article about the student athlete bill of rights from USATODAY. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2014/06/27/indiana-university-bill-of-rights-for-athletes-fred-glass/11506377/ "The bill of rights will be implemented immediately and coaches are free to use it as part of their pitch to recruits." This could really be effective in the recruiting process, I believe it could have the ability to make an offer from Indiana really stand out from the rest. And of course, the parents of the potential recruits would be very happy to hear about their son/daughter's ability to come back to school for free in the future, if they wanted to go pro early or whatever, would give them something to fall back on. -

RE: Looking for work in Btown. Bachelors in telecommunications and communications (IU) Masters in Public Service Administration (U of Evansville) I've done project/account coordination, project management, grant writing, expediting, supply chain work. Working in Telecommunications currently - fiber optic networks and network communications on a national scale. previously in construction supply - providing contractors with construction tools/supplies for large scale power plant builds. If anyone knows of some good companies to look into or networking opportunities, please let me know! (I wouldn't mind being martha the cleaning lady if it meant i'd be able to work with IU athletics lol, did janitor work at the IU dorms when I was a student there anyways, haha) -

Let's all just see how this next season goes. Hoosier Cowboy and I will be BFFs ifs things don't go well. I'm supporting coach for now though and sippin' on the same brown mystery juice from a mini water bottle until I see a 2nd disappointing season. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

Complaining is more than fine, and definitely has validity and facts to back it up. But the options we have for bringing in a 'better' coach are very limited. Also, I think that the time-frame that many are putting on Crean to get our program back into the shape it used to be under Knight are on the short-side of realistic. I just don't think this exact time, right now, is when we should be pushing to have our coach leave Bloomington. This next season could very well be the tipping point though. yeah, sweet 16's don't mean that we are literally "on top" again. But hell, that's a job well done. Hurts to get in the top 32 teams and lose, but that realm of competition is not considered mediocre. 32nd of about 350 D1 teams is top 10%. (last year sucked) -

Hutch89 replied to Hoosier Cowboy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
After all the craziness that happened after Knight left, we can't just expect to be winning national titles again. I'm pretty happy with how Crean has moved us back into tournament territory. although last year was really rough, i'm happy to have Crean in there for now doing what he's done. I mean, if you think about it, we are much further along now to where we want to be than where we were when Crean first took the job. Progress. A lot is riding on this next season. If our program can be consistent (minus the blip of last year) in making tournaments, then we can become more and more relevant, thus getting better recruits and so on. Yeah, i'm in a serious hurry to get another title and make deep runs in the tournament, but it doesn't really work that way. You have to work towards it and take steps to make it there and sometimes the patience it takes is too much to handle. I think we are moving in a very positive direction and having a good season for 2014-15 will be crucial in us getting to where we want to be. We have the best fans in the country. let's rally behind our team AND OUR COACH this year in full force and will ourselves into winning some close games and tough match-ups. confidence is important in basketball and our guys need to feel like they are invincible on the court. We as fans play a major role in that. Rant complete. -

good question, and i'm not too sure. I would think that Crean being involved wouldn't be a problem as long as he didn't pay an NBA player to come down and show off for new recruits. If the NBA player came down on his own accord and there happened to be recruits visiting at the same time. I'm not sure how that could be a violation in the NCAAs eyes.
