Potential fallout from coaching change
brandct replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Reports on another site say yes she was. They said it was her, her father, and son. -
As much as we like Yogi is he worth another year of Crean?
-
Oh I fully agree with that I figured this one would put us on the other side of the bubble.
-
Texas is last four out and they are up on a decent Kansas State team now and Illinois State just upset Witcha State also. It will be interesting to see where we are at the end of the day.
-
Other head coaches should not be in your practices or walk throughs before games. So to me they should have no clue what he puts them through.
-
And in most fans eyes IU deserves better than Crean.
-
So you have been in his practices and walk throughs to know just how hard on them he is? You are pretty much so one sided on this that it is not really even worth arguing with you.
-
Even if both do that is not enough reason for me to justify keeping Crean. All that does is give him a chance for another underachiving season that is just good enough to buy him a couple more years.

I might be in the minority but I honestly do not want Crean back no matter who he has on the team. I do not think that he can manage them good enough to win beyond what he already has proven to win. I think it just prolongs the problems within the program and causes a bigger divide between fans. Because if he does what he has the results of the 2013 team for one more year then he would get another 2-3 years to put him back in the same situation he is now. -

Yeah I have seen this and I am just hoping that he is wrong. There are also a few guys over there that are very adamant that he will not be back no matter what. I think its just a waiting game. -
I am very anti Crean, but I liked her prospective. I didn't like the line about Crean and next year, but it is not something that I would take out on her. It is interesting to see the situation from her prospective as to what is going on in the head of someone closely related to the situation at hand.

Potential fallout from coaching change

I would not be happy about it at all. I would have to put up with another year of barely being able to watch the games because of crazy sub patterns, taking out the player that can't miss, and dealing with his horrible defense. Watching that for the last few years has absolutely been enough. Then if they have a team that makes another sweet 16 or has a decent regular season showing for a high seed and gets put out early they will just make us put up with him longer. So I for one am ready for a change now. -
Did you not see the stands in the Iowa game. The chants for Brad Stevens and the coach I would say who it was for but the whole team getting booed off the floor.

I think most people are afraid that if he finds a way to back his way into the NCAAT that there will be no change and we will be in store for atleast 1 more year of this if not more. -
Potential fallout from coaching change

"The buyout in some quarters is overblown," Glass told Miller. "I get that it's a big number. What people don't realize is, if that were to occur, it would get paid out over five years. It's not like he gets a $10 million dollar check and walks out the door. "It gets paid out over time as if it were his regular salary over five years, which mitigates the impact on the department and it has a set-off provision so that if he went to another school or to TV or had some other employment, that gets set off. "I hesitate to even talk about it because it makes it seem like that's some sort of consideration. It's not. My main point is Tom is the coach here because I think he needs to be the coach here, not because we feel backed into it because of the buyout." -

Honestly the only reason most of the fans are mad at Glass is because of Crean. If you would say the fans are pouring salt in the wound of how Crean is doing I would agree, but Glass is causing a lot of the pressure he is feeling himself with statements like he made tonight. -

I still think that him coming out saying this is alienating the fans even more. The fans are already upset and he does not need to stir that pot. If there is a change made the media will be all over it and want interviews so he would be fine with them granting this after the change is made. I just have a problem with pouring salt in the wounds of the fans, which is not needed at this point. -

My problem with this is him doing the interview. He knows the fan base is to say the least in a very foul mood and want change now. Why go into the interview and stir everything up even more? This was a very dumb move on his part IMO. -
I am fine with him going down with the ship if that is what it takes to get rid of the problem. Sweet 16's don't cut it in Indiana basketball just look at the quote from Crean when he got here and it explains it all "This is Indiana"

I was lurking for a lot of the discussions. I was honestly just to mad at where things were to even make a comment that I might not regret. The baby sitting comment with the way these guys have acted is pretty much what they need. I will be the first to admit that I am still not on the Crean train, and that I think atleast a couple of the players should have been sent packing. The reputation of the University is first and foremost. I might be in the minority but I would rather lose the right way then win the wrong way. I have had a very hard time watching this team play this year, and I have not watched them much because of this. I want to be able to enjoy college basktball and IU basketball again. I have made lots of snide comments about Crean more so then the players because they are kids, but this one was directed at the players. That might not be the right thing to do, but they were involved with it also.

Seems like some people have a very short memory. I forgot were winning so all is forgotten.

Ummm have you seen what all this team does in its free time?
