    are you serious?

Sports writers aren't real people. Why is everyone getting so worked up about this or anything they say? They essentially make a living doing what we're doing now, and try to convince people that the crap they're talking about is real news. I don't care about anything sports related other than my own teams, and in regards to the teams I like I keep it completely in perspective. Anyone past college age (an adult) who gets worked up over anything sports related is a bum.

    College Bball Thread

Considering we only play Purdue once and at home, a win for them over Iowa helps us more since we play Iowa twice.   We really lucked out on this schedule. Only play MSU once, Maryland once, and Purdue once, with two of those being at home.

We allowed NW to get 2 blocks. Need to work on that if we're going to be taken seriously.

In other "where are they now" Hoosier news...

Forgot Remy Abell. He's getting decent minutes on a good Xavier team. Had 21 points in their win over Butler.

    Student attendance

If you want people in the seats then bring back the Kentucky series, shorten the OOC slate to 7 games against better teams with no tournaments halfway across the world, start conference play after winter break, win more, and win consistently. Beyond the particular issues IU has faced the last 15 years (sans the 2012 and 2013 seasons), there are structural problems with CBB that are starting to be recognized by the powers that be to bring the sport into its own beyond the NCAAT.

    Student attendance

I'll never understand the previous generations. You think that attending college games should be a top priority among college students? If it's not filling up on a regular basis then I agree, cut the student section to about 6000 and sell the rest. But acting like anyone who goes to IU should be honored to attend a college basketball game is silly. At peak interest, only about 25-30% of the student body purchases season tickets. Of those who buy, maybe half at best genuinely care about the team and know who the majority of the players are.

    Adj D adj O

Which is why our ranking is potentially misleading considering our worst defender is no longer on the court. Would be interesting to see how we stack up post-Blackmon's injury.

    Adj D adj O

The 2014 UConn team had the 39th AdjO, but their D was 10. UNC in 09 had a AdjD of 21, but their AdjO was 1st. In general though it is a very sound rule as every other NC team since 2002 has been in the top 20 for both categories. They fluctuate a bit though. Teams that are outside of the 20/20 range in early March may enter it with a strong conference tourney, so it's not worth getting all defeated if the team isn't there in mid-January.   Crean's teams are unsurprisingly AdjO-heavy. His 2002 Marquette team had an AdjD of 13, which is his best, but his FF team the next year had an AdjO of 2 and and AdjD of 119. Right now we're 20/52. We'll see how it plays out post-Blackmon, but I wouldn't write us past the first weekend if it's still hovering around the 40-50 range (at best) by BTT time.

    Wilson agrees to 6-year contract

I see zero perspective in this post. What direction was Lynch's program heading in during his final season here? What direction is Wilson's program heading? .500 Indiana football teams and even the word postseason are huge accomplishments for this program (sadly to say...). IU is at a point for the first time in decades where it should routinely get to a bowl game. Recruiting is at an all-time high. Though not winning (except against that ranked SEC East champion), we're starting to hang with the big boys. IUFBis trending up big time, and the reason behind that deserves some security. CKW is far from perfect, and I've said for a while he's learning how to win as much as our team, but the guy is taking this program from scratch and building annual bowl-caliber teams.    Do you even remember what this program was like when Lynch was here, sans his first season? Two quarterbacks in the backfield on the same play. Zero running game. Our baseball team playing secondary for us. The product on the field now actually looks like a football team.

    Washington DC Area...

I don't know the particulars of this guy's situation, but IMO buying a house while going into LS is putting the cart before the horse. A 1-bedroom apt in Bethesda between two people is very manageable. If he gets big law out of GULC he'll be fine settling in the area anyway.

    Washington DC Area...

Silver Spring's an overpriced dump. If you want to do MD and live on the metro check out Bethesda. GULC is by Judiciary Sqaure/Union Station so that is really easy to get to via the Red Line. If you end up going to GW Law and are checking out the suburbs, Arlington is very manageable since multiple lines go out there and through Foggy Bottom.    The DC communities speak for themselves depending on your price range. Just avoid the South East. A pretty reasonable area is Pentworth, and it wouldn't be difficult to get to either school from there.

James Blackmon Jr to undergo Surgery *Out for Season?

Unless he doesn't want to play for our next coach and uses the transfer-sit year to rehab.... (if anyone wants to get on me for saying that, keep in mind this is the internet)
  17. I was at the game and was not mopey about the loss, not because I accept that IUFB is "IUFB," but because for the first time over 20 years this program is now at place where going to bowl games nearly every year is the expectation. We're far from being content, but the program is trending upwards.
  18. Let's do what our basketball couldn't in beating the Blue Devils and get our first bowl win in over 20 years.

Analysis: It was just Morehead State but ...

Given that the defensive issues plaguing this team are almost entirely mental, any sign of improvement, regardless of competition level, is encouraging and may go a long in salvaging what's left of this season. If these guys learn how to communicate, switch defenders, and learn how to position themselves properly, the athleticism we have (at least in our starting lineup) will take care of the rest. Let's see how it carries over to the rest of the non-con and then we'll worry about if they can hang with the bigger boys.

    TOM CREAN FIRED

I don't think Crean is gone until after the season. We have ND and cupcakes until conference play starts, and we have a favorable conference slate considering a lot of our big ones are at home. This team is a mess, but AH appears to be worth 15 points to them, and they do play with more intensity and cohesion at home.   We start Big10 play @Rutgers and @Nebraska. Then we get some bigger boys, but they're at home. We're going to get killed in Madison and East Lansing, but I have a feeling we could steal one against UM in Ann Arbor. For whatever reason Crean has Beilein's number. We only play MSU once, get Maryland at home, can beat Illinois in both places, could possibly split with Purdue, can play @Minnesota, may compete @Iowa, should beat Penn State, should be NW, hopefully sweep Nebraska, etc.   It's a very favorable schedule that other than @UW and @MSU gives us a lot of our tougher games at home, such as Maryland and OSU who we both only play once. I know this team looks helpless, but if the Vonleh team beat #3 Wisconsin, I wouldn't put it past them to steal a few. Unless we have a final stretch collapse ala Bruce Weber's last season in Champaign, Crean will finish the season.

IU vs Duke Post Game Thread

The thing is they shouldn't be this bad. I know some of our players are a work in progress but you give this same team to a handful of other coaches and they are around top 15.
