Chris Collins would probably do fairly well at IU- I don’t k ow why I think that lol.
-
Mismanaging the basketball program for 25 years would definitely suggest IU will ignore Beard/Wade/Golden. Indiana is a better job than Florida and it’s IU‘s job to make that clear. If IU can’t make the case to someone qualified then again, that’s just incompetence. You can have mid NIL and salary and play in a FedEx warehouse or you can have top level NIL and salary and play in a limestone cathedral. It is public knowledge that IU has top shelf money for both coaches and players, that we have a great arena and there is prestige (though fading) to the job. IU needs to do better at hiring basketball coaches. It’s literally their job and it will be their fault (not the fans’) if they hire another dud.

Archie Miller had a better resume before IU than Devries has right now. That’s the hesitancy I have and others- the guy has done very well at Drake for 6 years where he finished 1st in conference once. Still, a good record but not great. I think IU can do and should demand a better candidate. I dont think that means we have to unrealistic expectations (Stevens, Donovan, Drew, TJ, May)… I think McCollum is a more compelling candidate and I also think Brownell is a better candidate than Devries.
-
I would be reasonably encouraged by McCollum. Still think there’s no real excuse not to get one of: Beard, Golden, Wade.
-
God, I would hope not.
-
Nobody outbids IU for a mediocre coach. Nobody.
-
Guess you gotta start somewhere.
-
Our university isn’t that pragmatic and logical.
-
IU basketball program was mismanaged for the last 30 yrs and we should have known that it’s systemic and will continue to be mismanaged.
-
Almost all relevant and even not relevant programs have been able to hire a competent coach over the last 30 years except Indiana. It’s amazing that our university still cannot do it. Even after Archie and Woodson they still can’t do it. It’s stunning.
-
I’d rather have Woodson for another 2 years than give Devries or Brownell 4-5 years.
-
I do find it hard to believe we would force Woodson out and then go get someone like Brownell or Devries.
-
Fair point. He’s had more success at D1 than our previous 3 coaches combined. Not saying I’d want him but if Brad Brownell is being considered supposedly maybe Thad is
-
Haven’t heard Thad Matta brought up- thoughts? Too old? Health? Once upon a time he was legit and he recently had a relationship with IU as a consultant or basketball ops right?
-
You are saying you believe the next coach isn’t currently coaching..?
-
The last two coaches we had didn’t have any P4/5 coaching experience. I fear that our hopes and dreams are just that. And that these “reports” about Brownell, McCollum and Devries are closer to the truth. That would be depressing af. I could manufacture a narrative of hope around McCollum’a history of winning at D2. But I would have hoped IU would go after a Wade/Beard level coach.

I really don’t think Mgbako should be playing very many minutes. I mean he can’t dribble under pressure, he doesn’t rebound well or post up effectively, he doesn’t defend worth a dime and he isn’t a great passer. He really doesn’t do anything well as a basketball player except get hot from 3 occasionally. I don’t think he’s very good at basketball honestly. edit: oh and he shuffles his feet nearly every time he tries to catch and dribble/drive. -

would be nice if Rice could handle the ball confidently like a guard would do. -

This team and really every Mike Woodson team is just so flakey. These guys just aren’t winners. It’s an obvious must win game at home against a team that you should beat. What does Indiana do? Exactly what you thought they’d do: be discombobulated, ineffective, chippy and tight. Just like every single Mike Woodson team has been. -

Not a Myles rice fan- don’t care how many circus shot layups he makes- don’t want him handling the ball in crunch time. He carries the ball every possession and he can’t shoot. Would rather have Leal or Galloway with the ball. -

I am so tired of this team. UCLA passes it to the wing and back to the top of the key for a wide open 3. This team is so dumb. -
