BC I suspect most of our players don’t know what hard work is. Honestly. None of these guys have had to work a real job, or study hard in school or outwork anyone on the basketball court in HS. Cupps might be the only exception. -

It’s amazing that IU’s last two coaches were so terrible. Imagine IU with a bona fide coach. Not even a great coach. Cream was a legit coach but not a great coach and even he had IU ranked #1 at one point. -

Woody is 66y. Even if next year we are good. He isn’t the future of this program. He’s the past. Let’s move on. -

Fire Mike Woodson. It’s not personal. It’s business. -

Good job, NU. At least someone playing decent basketball in AH. -

Northwestern has more talent than IU. Almost every team we play in or out of conference has more talent than we do. -

Really tired of seeing Malik look for a foul call after a make. -

I bet there wouldn't be quite as much frustration if Woodson didn't look so disengaged and tired and just over it. It's one thing to have a tough season- nearly all teams and coaches go through it at some point...but to just look so tired, unable, and unwilling to adapt. He just comes off as disinterested and/or lost which signals to everyone that he doesn't know what he's doing or doesn't care. You can't lose and also look like you can't be bothered about it. -

If the Dusty smoke is real and thick enough and if Woody and Co stagger sufficiently in these last weeks of the season..I would think it's at least possible a move is made. -

Not worried about recruiting at IU with Woody or after Woody. We need a coach with energy, a coach who can change the gameplan, who can pivot and try new things. When I see Woody, I dont see or hear energy or coaching prowess. I just see and hear a tired old guy. -

I'm not dinging May. Schertz has won a ton more basketball games. That's a plus for him as it should be. -

I think Schertz has such a record of winning that its less of a risk than May. The dude has Indiana State ranked and going to the tourney. Have you been to Terre Haute? It's not as cool as Florida. Dude wont like a thousand games in a row at whatever its called school in Tennessee. Hyperbole aside......May to me feels almost the same as Archie in terms of his proven-ness. Schertz has a diff vibe- just tons of winning and no connections or family ties that helped him get there either, in fact quite the opposite. Dusty May career:120-65 (.649) Josh Schertz career: 390-105 (.788) One has more than 3x more wins with a better winning percentage. Dusty May could be a great hire. If I'm choosing between two non-P5 coaches and these are my best candidates (probably), I'll take Schertz. Going to the FF is awesome but I just don't think winning 5-6 games in a row trumps winning 270 more games. -

Yea, I am a little shy on May. Having a couple really nice seasons at a small school isn't enough for me to get real excited. If he were hired I'd get pumped and be along for the ride obviously, but yea it isn't my first choice probably. I find Schertz to be more compelling, as his record at the DII school was outright dominant and he now has Indiana State ranked in the top 25 for the first time in 40+ years. To me, there is more coaching evidence there than one really great FF run (although that is a fantastic accomplishment). I wouldn't be mad at Nate Oats as a candidate. -
I keep saying this but it is a crucial point about Purdue. They are a one man team. Thats not hyperbolic at all. If Shrek is in foul trouble or gets injured, Purdue is not a top 25 caliber team. Who is their go to scorers without Edey over a whole 40 min? They immediately turn into a mid B1G team or worse. The #2 team in the country is entirely reliant on one player. That’s why Purdue doesn’t win in March. Indiana had the bettee talent last year and this year- but our chemistry and culture and coaching wasn’t there. Indiana as I think most of us would agree and outsiders would ageee as well- we are one good coach away from being a dominant program again. Plenty of brand recognition (albeit old now) plenty of NiL, plenty of fan support. This is Purdue’s absolute zenith- it’s all they can really do- high rankings, with one good player and a system and a very localized fan base and early exits in March since time began. This is all they got. Indiana can reach a new gear with the right coach and that’s why they dislike us.

Time to move on with the evening. Foul fest begins.

We haven’t hit a 3 and we missed several FTs. This could easily have been under 10 at the half. Not expecting to win, but this Pu team is just not that impressive. Without Shrek, they would look and win like Wisconsin.

Gunn is the type of guy that comes in handy in games like this: quick, makes smaller guards uncomfortable when he guards them. Sure, he sucks at everything else but right now we are struggling with pressuring PUs backcourt.
