Dakich is off his rocker. "Extend"?
-
*sigh* I don't even know what to say.
-
Deflections.
-
Makes no sense to bring him back.
-
I doubt that Glass has told Crean he's done, definitively.
-
Good point about fife's leadership. He could be a good get.
-
Holtman, Archie, Collins, Fife- just not confident these guys can recruit at a high level. I am not one who thinks all we need is a fundamental coach. I'd like to see IU actually contend nationally. Need to recruit at a high level for that. Top 10 classes. I could see Archie growing into that kind of coach/recruiter. Hard to see it from the others. Sure hope the Billy D talks go somewhere..that's the closest thing to a sure thing.

Those pics of Crean with the blank face and the gif of him pulling up his pants...always make me laugh. This isn't a cheap shot, but they are so funny.

Game Thread : Indiana vs Northwestern (Senior Night)
Adillac replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't want Crean to be booed. At the end of the day he's just another guy trying to be great at his job. It's a tough job no doubt. Colin deserves a jovial send off as well. -
I don't know what it says about the process if McRobbie is involved. He is president of IU and 99% of that I would guess has nothing to do with IUBB, so it kind of worries me to have him involved to be honest. Why would boosters and donors need his involvement? I don't know the answer; I'm legitimately asking.

In today's game I think you need significant recruiting to be at the big boy table. If 5 schools are getting the lionshare of the top 20 kids each and every year, then it's always going to be those schools as the 1-3 seeds in the tournament, etc...it is not a coincidence that the same schools with the top 3 seeds are the schools with most of the top 20 kids. I think coaching is very important, but if Crean could have recruited better, he would have had a yogi ferrell for this year's team, and he would have had shooters for the 2013-2014 team. When does UNC, Kansas, UK, Duke, Arizona, have just a staggering weakness on their roster...they usually don't.

I love it when people use data. It all depends on your expectations. If you're an Iowa fan, then Crean is recruiting very well. If you're an IU fan, not so much.
-
I think IU is gonna go after Archie. Gut feeling. I'd love it to be Stevens, Donovan, Marshall, Bennett- in that order..but something tells me those guys are just fine where they are.

speaking about the MSU/IU thing- Yes, IU has gone through their worst period from 1997-Now. So, for the worst 20 yrs of the program we still have- 1 Championship game, 2 Sweet16s, 3 Conference titles. Not great by any stretch, but still its something considering it is the worst stretch in our history. Meanwhile, MSU has had their best 20 years in the same time. MSU was nothing before Izzo. You know how many B1G titles they have ever? 13. IU has 22. Think about that for a minute. IU was relevant in the 40s 50s 70s 80s 90s 2000s. MSU has been nationally relevant since 2000. Right now, yes MSU is better year in year out, but MSU is new to success. People who know basketball, who work in basketball, give IU as much respect as anyone because they know IU basketball is an institution, not a fad. It;s like saying Oregon football deserves more respect than Notre Dame football because the Ducks have been good for the last 10-15 yrs. Forgetting the previous 75 years is myopic and very "millennial" lol

Is the glass half empty or half full?
Adillac replied to BottomLine's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"Without question" Every team and coach we play is "phenomenal" "especially in this league". I much prefer pissed off Crean, the guy who gives short answers and curt replies to all reporters. I think angry Crean coaches better. Fresh off a little success makes Crean soft and his teams temperamental. I think it sucked we lost today, but no way in hell do we play well in the tourney after winning the BTT. Sadly, it is hard to see that pattern ever really working for Crean and IU. The idea is to win and keep winning. Too much winning shouldn't hurt your chances of winning, but with Crean, it does. Am I reading too much into it? Probably. Will love to see how IU responds... -
What finish will make YOU happy with IU Basketball this March?
Adillac replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I would be happy with an Elite 8...With the injuries and uncertainty, with how Crean teams play away from AH, which is to say very undisciplined and tight, I'd say it is unlikely they make it past the first weekend. But, who knows... -
IU shouldn't have lost this game today. Why does Crean wait to switch on ball screens until the last few minutes? Our poor rotation killed us all game. I'm not on the ledge right now, but being skeptical of Crean for years now, I can say that if we lose early in the tourney, he will have a built in excuse- injuries. He has done a great job, but I think you gotta win big in March at some point in your career at IU. Also, he needs to get more than one stud in every class. Top 30 classes aren't going to cut it. Maybe this team will enter the tourney with a chip on their shoulder...hope so.

Would have liked to have seen a contributing player be in the front row of that picture.

(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona
Adillac replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Take Rawle all day -
As long as Crean doesn't try giving the job to JBJ, think we'll manage. Hope Crean let's the offense flow through our strengths and doesn't try and give Yogi's responsibilities to anyone. No one next year will be able to do that effectively. We won't have a penetrator like Yogi next year. Depending on who stays, next year's team could be really good imo if the ball moves as much as Crean emphasizes. We will have a lot of interchangeable parts which is what he has always wanted. As for leadership, impossible to say but I would think Rojo and Bryant (if he stays) could be leaders. Leadership and heart are what we'll miss the most from Yogi I think. Kid is a giant competitor.

New starting five to prove a point
Adillac replied to Hoosiers High Life's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree. Would like to see this starting 5: Yogi (with a short leash) Johnson Hartman Max Bryant Thing is, as has been mentioned here- it's probably too late with a lot of these guys, as far as respecting Crean's authority. Too many promises to players, parents, and HS coaches I suspect for him to be able to suddenly motivate with authority rather than praise. I feel bad for Crean, honestly. He is just coaching the way he knows how and the way that fits his personality. I admire his courage in taking the IU job and challenging himself but not sure he is suited to be the head coach at a pressure cooker like IU. Crean is perfect for a place like Marquette, just not a place like IU. I won't drop a name because the mods hate it when we criticize specifically, however one of our starting guards is a glorified 3pt shooter. -
Nice to know that we have a big man that 1)has talent 2)understands fundamentals 3)won't play scared or "small"....

lol

Who is taking shots? I dont care if or when they decide to do anything. I was stating my opinion that they are not nba caliber players.

JBJ and Troy are not going to the NBA next year or any year. What NBA team needs a slow 2guard who has already had major knee surgery or a SF who jukes himself to the floor?
