IU looked incredible on offense last night. Really impressive. Poised, smart. Defense was pretty good too, although I thought there were a few phantom And1s that the refs gave UI. Liked Deron’s fire last night telling the UI player “Don’t elbow me” or whatever he said. Glad we didn’t force it with Romeo. Not sure he’s the best guy with the ball against a high pressure defense. Rob clearly is. We made some cuts to the hoop w/o the ball which was cool to see. Basically, the team looked like it had been coached and they had listened. Impressive win. Good post! I’m not so sure Keion would be our #1 option next year. Maybe, but Phinisee will (HOPEFULLY) have the ball in his hands a lot next year and (HOPEFULLY) be driving the lanes. Also, TJD/Davis give us legit post presence so gotta think the ball is going into the paint quite a bit. Regardless of any of that, I think you’re right- IU has a great opportunity to get him. I think IU could potentially be better than a borderline top 25 team if the team isn’t derailed by more injury problems or internal division. McRoberts and Fitzner don’t belong in the floor ever. Race is one of our best players, period. This program needs a hard nosed coach. Sick of seeing zero awareness and fundamentals from Green/Smith/Romeo. Why isn’t Phinisee and Romeo getting looks on offense? Rob has proven he is more than a solid slasher. Forget Ws, Archie hasn’t proven he’s a good coach by how his team plays. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m getting tired of watching the same chit. Smith sucks. Why isn’t Race just starting? He’s clearly a better player. I mean, honestly we weren’t going to run the table anyway, so we didn’t lose anything bigger picture on this night. I feel bad for the team because you could tell they really wanted this game. They played a fantastic game. Sure there were mistakes. It’s clear, Phinisee is capable of much more than he typically contributes. He just needs confidence and the green light to just drive to the hoop and shoot open 3s. He is Yogi-esque (no not saying he is Yogi). It’s clear to me: when Phinisee plays dialed in like tonight, IU is much better. Green is kind of a cancer. Yea, he makes some shots sometimes but he just turns it over and you KNOW it’s coming, and it usually does. He also takes bad shots and is lazy with his passes, no fundamentals. But we all know that by now. Hope his role is somehow very minimal next year (unfortunately, it won’t be) Race is one helluva solid rebounder. Like what I saw from him tonight! Davis and Morgan looked like the steady upperclassmen that they are. Al seemed a little off tonight. Less Smith tonight which was nice to see. How about Evan?! Bout freakin time he made a basket or two. Clearly Archie made crisp passing a priority and it was obvious to me and the difference was apparent. Thought we executed nicely all game until the last 3 min of regulation and overtime. I think we were mentally and physically gassed. Excited to have Phinisee, Al, Davis, and Race back for next year. IF players are not doing what Archie is asking them to do, he should play the end of the bench, period. Would absolutely love to see principle in action. IF that's the case. Might not be the case though of course. I hope Archie succeeds here. I really do. I still think he will...just need another year to get in new blood.
