(2024) - Liam McNeeley to UConn
Adillac replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I know Knight was an a**h*** to a lot of people and whatever, but his unwillingness to kiss @$$ constantly is respectable imo. Not sure I could land any of these kids bc after a hundred phone calls and texts and photo shoots and promises of 6 figure income while they play basketball at school...I'd probably just lose my patience. I'd be like Norman Dale "I don't care if you play on the team or not" lol. -
(2024) - CG Dylan Harper to Rutgers

Though I can't know anything specific obviously, it would seem from the outside that IU is now a more attractive place to play than in previous years..NIL is presumably big here, the culture and fandom is ofc big, Woody seems like he really connects well to a lot of these young kids and their families which matters. Also helps that you have his NBA experience and guys like Melo, JHS, Trayce out there saying Woody is awesome. I think we get 1 of these guys: Liam, Queen, Fland, Harper. And I don't think it'd be that shocking if we got 2. -

I think mid-late 1st round is what I remember reading awhile back. -
(2024) - PG Boogie Fland to Kentucky
Adillac replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Ofc I'm biased but...at IU he'd be guaranteed (pretty much) the starting PG spot, ball in his hands for the start. And he'd likely have a top 25 caliber team around him and the best basketball fanbase behind him on social media and at the games. At UK you'd probably be fighting for the top spot with another top 40 guard and you'd be surrounded by almost exclusively freshmen and sophomores. Plus, Rupp arena is a drafty old hollowed out shoe box and AH is, well awesome. -

Caleb Love - UNC Transfer to Arizona

His stats tell a story: he isn’t efficient and he’s a ball hog. Why would we want a ball hog who isn’t good at shooting? I think it would be a mistake to bring him in based off of what we’ve seen from his prior 3 years in college basketball. That’s not a small sample size. We know what he does on the basketball court in college. -
Team Outlook and Class Balance Going Forward
Adillac replied to HoosierHoopster's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
At first, I was uncertain about getting Sparks and Walker but now I'm really excited about them. Sparks and Walker are both upgrades to Kopp and Race imo. Better finishers, better athleticism. We need that. And now we have it. I think all eyes are going to be on the 2024 class. There is an opportunity to have a monster class. Many high level prospects are in IU's reach: McNeely, Asa, Harper, Flory. We could potentially get 2 of those guys. That would be a top 5 class right there. -
Who fills the last scholarship?

I don't think it's that crazy to consider that either Cupps or Newton could start next to X. Not saying I think they will, but its possible. -
Offensive Style and Sets Next Year
Adillac replied to MikeRoberts's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sparks and Malik are the only back to the basket guys dominant guys and they likely won't play much together. Walker is a slasher. He is almost exactly like Banks in size and handle. Ware is going to post up when it is opportunistic but i imagine he will be floating around a lot. Mackenzie will not be posting up unless it is a mismatch is my guess. I agree though that I'd like us to have another guard who can create a mismatch other than X. -
Our athletic depth will be something we haven't had here in a long long time. We've always had one guy on the floor who wasn't a great athlete, without naming names. Next year, I think most of the time we will be athletic from 1-5 (unless you count Trey as limiting, which I don't).

By the looks of the videos Ive watched- I think Sparks and Walker are going to be excellent contributors for this team. Sparks looks very strong, finisher through contact. Walker is a long bouncy small forward like Banks, who I also think can do good things for us.

I found JHS to be more a distributor than X. JHS was a master at the pick n roll. Made it look easy. -

Out of like 50+ guards over the last decade, here are the ones that we were confident were going to make a good decision or could hit a shot or not turn the ball over: Oladipo, Hulls, JHS, Yogi, Blackmon. Xavier can be electric but no I don’t trust him with the ball. I trusted JHS 5x more than him. Gonna miss Jalen lol. He was very rare. Xavier is a nice player but I hope Cupps is better than your typical skinny top 150 freshman so he can help when Xavier has one of his bad games. -

My concern for this years team and possibly going forward is a lack of high skill or elite guards. Guys like Oladipo and JHS. Though they are different style players they are small enough to be good defenders, big enough to handle some in between assignments and can shoot well. I feel like we don’t ever have enough quality guard play here. I hope that changes soon. Either way, excited to see how this team looks next year. -

I think coach’s success at recruiting thus far and probably it will continue….it sets a nice precedent and expectation for the next coach- you’d better be a closer, a good recruiter or you can’t be our coach.. I think this NiL open deals era that has begun has actually allowed the IU brass to or forced them to acknowledge that the coach has to recruit on an elite level and not just wax poetic about toughness and “this is Indiana”. -

I think a tall lineup would make us laterally slow. Blow bys aplenty. -

Turning game off. Goodnight everyone. I refuse to watch the tedious end of another Hoosiers lazy timid loss. -

When jumpers are your best shot….you are in trouble. Wtf kind of coaching is that? -

We can still win but I highly doubt it. Miami knows they can get a shot and that they are quicker. We are whiny and slow and timid. I highly doubt we will actually pull this out. -

Imagine how much better this team would be if the substitutions were made via poll results from this board on a rolling 5min basis.
