Yogi/Stan Blackmon/Stan/ Johnson Williams The first three positions are pretty solid in my opinion. As right now the four would have to go to Davis because he's scrappy and we are going to need him to be that scrappy undersized 4. and the 5 would go to Perea. If Perea can just grow a bit he might be able to provide solid minutes. We are going to need a couple of juco's or transfers to give those two a break.

Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft
Banksyrules replied to HoosierRob's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Man I love me some IU basketball, but I never knew I'd become such a masochist at the same time. I still have faith that the PROGRAM will one day be great again. Gotta keep the hope alive. -

He hardly got the ball and was one of our star players. Can you honestly blame him? -

I agree with this 100%. The man deserves the next season to see what he can do with all the tools in place. However nothing less then an elite eight will get me to back him up for other seasons. I don't think there is a a great replacement right now and I can live with Crean until options open up. What I do worry about is the administration of our program. I really hope they get a better system in place for discovering good coaching talent. I think the Crean hire in my opinion was a conservative hire, who had history but never really stood out from other coaches. I loved Sean Miller and I was hoping for a harder push at the time for a younger coach.

Why would an iu fan do this? Some people. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Which coach? I doubt its quite the terrible proposition you think it is. Whom they hire would determine whether they start over with a unproven or slightly proven coach. The stability issue is a big one, but the problem many people have is not the win-loss record this year, but persistent deficiencies in his coaching and philosophy. So most fans probably want stability in the head coaching position, but not necessarily at the expense of solid coaching. And that's the crossroads I am seeing a lot of IU fans at, they just don't believe in CTC. They like what he done while he was there, they like his integrity, they like a lot of things about him, they just don't believe him the head coach of the future, and as such are not interested in just keeping CTC for the sake of stability.
Sadly this is how I feel. He is a great guy and I really want him to succeed. I don't even have problems if he has a off year coaching wise. I just think, and I maybe wrong, that he's not willing to change or adjust at all. I feel all of us should from time to time eat a piece of humble pie and better ourselves. It's on Crean to do that next year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I like how you phrased this.

I agree if indeed something is happening, I would hope we could keep it in house.

This is very true. The key would be, and I know Woodson is smart enough to get this is that he would need an assistant that's very connected to the Indiana High School scene.

As a Knicks fan I can see our stupid owner hiring Calipari, but I would hope that Coach Phil Jackson is smart enough to hire someone else.

Supposedly the difference between sources from regular people and news organizations is that reporters usually have to report their sources to their editors to see if their stories hold water. I'm not sure about sports editors though. Edit: However, being a New Yorker the Daily News is tough to gage. They had reputable journalists like Mike Lupica, but they also had their share of tabloid hunters as well.

From X's and O's perspective does anyone feel he can Coach a great game? Remember the NBA is completely different from the college game. Saban was a horrible NFL coach but excelled in college football. Also Steve Spurrior. I wonder if he could recruit.

The question mark for next season(if Vonleh stays) is how much more are we actually going to improve with Johnson and Blackmon on board? If we can't control our turnover issue then I don't see a big change. Maybe a tournament team but I feel we should strive for so much more at this time. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

This is how I feel as well. We know they are capable of it by winning against Michigan, Ohio State, and Iowa, but can they do little things throughout the course of the game to win it. Big mystery. -
Oh I know. Just thinking it might get ugly. I went to a Philly game once. I was at the bleachers and a fan through a dirty diaper at my direction. A dirty diaper. Mets won though.
