Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass
Banksyrules replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My apologies cc general I know you're an objective poster and perhaps I could have typed in a lighter tone. Just disagree that's all. -
What I'll be happy with. Top 3 finish in the big ten Big ten tourney finalists Elite 8 (hoping were at least competitive in the game) This team really does have the talent to win it all. My biggest concern is that we keep coach crean because of the elite eight. I'm worried that the talent is what took us there rather then the coaching.(three burger boys and explosive Troy) Thus keeping him longer then we should have. I think Bryant has that it factor, were he will yell at his team to front their man. I hope objective minds can fairly judge coach Crean's in game coaching methods( if good or bad).

Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass
Banksyrules replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Because it fails to mention his entire record. Those years u pointed to were a result of already winning in years past. We allow legends to linger because of what they've done. Coach Crean with his sample of work has not earned that prestige ( yet -who knows what will happen). Point those records were at the tail of career , if were under normal circumstances ( like crean) this would not acceptable. -
Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass
Banksyrules replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sorry I disagree with this post. We knew the man's legacy, and how he already brought championships to our school. If we all were honest with ourselves we all knew he was at the end of his career, and we kept him in, because he was a legend. That's the tough bind I can live with. Miscued statistics like this annoy me because it doesn't tell the whole story. This is a horrible example of why we should be stupid enough to support Coach Crean. I didn't even like Knight ( jerk if you asked me), but at least provide more context instead of providing miscued numbers to support a point. -

Well the refs just gave Duke the game berth that foul call. -
Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass

If Glass thinks Crean is the man for the job, it makes me wonder if the idiot would be able to hire a good coach in the first place. At least with another less then stellar season they both would be gone, and someone else can choose the next coach. I'm tired of this passive &%$. Were Hoosiers people, we strive to be the best, not settle to be mediocre. -
My order of people I thought were going to transfer. 1.Priller. 2.April 3.Stan 4. zeisloft(sp). 5. Hartman 6. Max.

Noooooo. I thought this kid with a little bit of more muscle could have been our glue guy. I'm very saddened by this.

I give them a C . We made the tournament but I felt that if if we had inkling of defense we could have easily had an A season What grade would you give this year's team and what is your reasoning? I have a feeling we might apply a curve.

They hustle and play smart. I'm ok if we chose him as our next coach. -
Is IU Content to be Little Engine that Could?
Banksyrules replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think the problem we have is the generation of fans, who have no idea how it felt to be a power program. That leads us to be too content, and let things go. We need more objectivity from people. People need to realize that you can be critical and still be a fan if your objective. Blind loyalism gets you nowhere but contentment. I also think it's partly the media's fault. I think reporters based in Indiana are too afraid to ask the tough questions because Coach Crean and the administration are too obstinate. I think there all afraid the administration will take away their press passes ( especially for bloggers like ITH). If we have no voice to keep the administration honest, then the administration will keep making poor decisions (aka, picking 3 consecutive bad coaches, are other sports programs are losing, and handing out bad contracts). I honestly feel the IU Athletics department is in a "let them eat cake" mentality. The infrastructure has to change, but we as alumni or fans are afraid to start trouble. -

If we win its going to be through our athleticism and our ability to hit our free throws when we drive to the basket. -

Potential fallout from coaching change
Banksyrules replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Open your eyes and look at the film. Even with their losses they look fundamentally sound. When they played Kentucky last they played, they just couldn't match up athletically. All his team lacks is athletic ability and that should be resolved if he brings in recruits who want to go to a higher profile school. If we beat him look at the game objectively. You'll notice that whenever IU goes for a shot a man will be there to front them. Look how they pass the ball in their offensive sets to create shots. It's not as simple as winning or losing when u coach in a non power conference. Not saying that's who I want but he would be better then coach Crean . -
Did we do enough to impress the selection crew?

Thank god

you have to admit it's a well coached game on both fronts.

Is this the worst defensive team in IU history?
Banksyrules posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't remember ever watching such a horrid defense. The zone is useless. We don't shift to cover the open three. Etc, etc. What do you guys think? -
God I hope so. Those boys looked good. I think if we play man to man all bets are off. You think Coach Crean will change?
