2011-12, 2012-13 all we have? Can it ever happen again?
KelleyHoosh replied to SWEETLEMONbrown's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Too many variables IMO to say for sure over the next five years. Theoretically, it is possible. In this day and age of college basketball, recruiting classes have to be composed of elite talent and then raw talent that can be coached up. We have seen the benefit of developed talent in Oladipo. We've also seen the benefits of one and dones like Vonleh and Eric Gordon. A healthy mix is crucial- UK has, other than a few exceptional seasons, showed the issues of taking nothing but ones and dones. Programs need stability. We need to recruit the right number of prospects who will develop into a strong supporting cast to pair with our stars. With the right roster management and training/work ethic I don't think it is impossible for IU to have a great, well-rounded team soon. -
Could this season be a good thing?

Yea, I guess I wouldn't say this season was a good thing, but rather that something good can come out of it -
Who would you hire to replace CTC?

Agreed, that thought crossed my mind. He definitely wouldn't be a candidate for IU until he succeeds at another big time school. -

What other post like this did I make? I like your posts hwy but I don't like that you two are always in a pissing contest. He can't make a post about his honest opinion without you satirically lambasting him. -

Is hwy1 vs JS officially a feud? I think it is -

Yogi Blackmon Devin Troy Lee (Lets hope) Hollowell Stan Perea Robert Johnson Hopefully Cunningham or Clark Next year has potential. They're definitely a tournament team IMO based off talent. I'd like to see a sweet 16. I'd consider that a good coaching job with this group. My expectation would be 2nd round exit. Lets hope the boys put in the work -

Can you support your claim with some evidence other than plainly stating hes an awful coach? I would think with your opinion you would agree with this line of thought as it "exposes" CTC for the "horrible" coach he is. Crean is not without fault and hes far from perfect. A "horrible" coach, he is not. I'd like to see anyone on this board coach a major D1 school then talk about how easy it is. Being a head coach at a flagship university in their premier sport is never easy. At this point, enjoy March Madness and try to be positive about the future. There are positives to look forward to -

I like the perspective. Sometimes to feel the highest highs you have to go through the lowest lows -
Wow. Now that Craft play is deserving of praise haha
-
Haha literally exactly what I was thinking. Craft can do no wrong from an announcer's point of view

Lets go Dayton

IU has so much to offer I hope I can get to everything! I signed up for the intensive freshman seminar so I will move in August 2nd. More time for me to get acclimated to campus and bug coaches Crean and Wilson
-
I wish there were a timeframe or something so we knew when we will find out. Oh well, guess it will just have to be a surprise haha. If we pull Lee I will feel a lot better about next year having a reliable big. Yogi making plays, JB2 hitting on the outside, Lee solidifying the post with Troy and Stan pitching in... Not a bad group

I think it says a lot that every alumni I have met from IU talks to passionately about it and that there are so many graduates on this board. Years removed and enjoyed their time so much they're still happy to talk about all things Indiana. I'm pumped

Thanks, mamasa those are some handy tips! Agreed, the campus is what really sold me on the school. Is there a dorm that most of the athletes live in or are they fairly spread throughout campus? Would be pretty cool if me and James Blackmon jr were floormates next year

Yup, this is the story I've read. It was never confirmed but allegedly they were not invited, some kid got mouthy and threw a plastic handle at Goodluck and the frat boy ended up with a broken eye socket. Of course, theres plenty of reasons to doubt this story. You'd think frat kids would like hanging out with athletes. Go figure. Sucks
-
Can you get in there at 18? I know fake IDs are kind of useless at IU. You also seem pretty knowledgable about fraternities, want to share any input on that. Are you a current student?
-
Haha does BTownBanners have events? I'd gladly spread the word about here on campus Thats cool, which fraternity were you in if you don't mind me asking? I've been thinking about rushing, but everyone has a different opinion on Greek life so I will just have to see for myself if its for me when I get there. Being on campus during championship seasons must have been something special. What did you study while you were there? Morris County, North Jersey

Ha in a corn field? Thats awesome. Do cops tend to bust up off campus/corn field/frat parties? Do you have any opinion you want to share about Greek Life? Couldn't help but notice theres some very nice looking ladies in Hoosier land. I'm not sure if you guys have ever heard of it, but if you want to see footage of Indiana parties google "Indiana University I'm Shmacked" Theres two videos, one on a football weekend against Wisconsin and one from Little 5. I'm Shmacked is basically just a group of people who go from college to college making recordings of parties and somehow turning a 5 million dollar profit. Not a bad set up haha. I've been to the Midwest visiting schools/family a lot over the years and I completely love the midwest way of life. After school I plan on making my home in Indiana because I've enjoyed my time there so much. Its just very different from the coast and I really find it quite peaceful.

This may be a dumb question, but I know in some states/counties you're allowed into bars at 18 you just cant drink... I found that post from Hovadipo's thread and the guy listed the best bars... is it possible to get in there under 21? Also he referred to the fields as a magical place... what are the fields? I have so much to learn about being a Hoosier. August can't come soon enough
