I don't want Devin to focus on being able to play the three, I want him to focus on getting as strong as possible, running the court, defense and offensive moves in the paint. If DD becomes a consistently solid or good 4, I won't feel AS nervous about front court play next year.

Jakeenan Gant off the board
KelleyHoosh replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Getting fuller, if only for one year, would be worth adding gant. He is who I want most on our board, I would take him over Eron Harris and I REALLY like Eron Harris Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Can someone explain this HSN thing to me either here or via PM? I've seen it referenced a lot lately

Next Season will be a Success If....
KelleyHoosh replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
- If Hanner is serviceable as a big on defense and in terms of rebounds - If Devin, Troy and Stan take a big leap - If the guard play is where it is expected to be - If we win the games we are supposed to (no Penn States/Northwesterns) -

Tuesday is close enough that I believe it will actually happen then... Getting him would be awesome. Is it foolish of me to be holding out a little hope? -

I see the appeal in bringing in an Indiana guy, but it may be hard to find a coach that is all around considered "ideal." I realize it is outlandish, but I would love for us to make a run at Shaka Smart if Tom Crean were to go. Other candidates I would like include: Josh Pastner, Bryce Drew, Greg Marshall, Greg McDermott, Tony Benett, Bruce Peal. None of these names are probable or may be good "fits." Perhaps someone better informed on IU basketball could make a better list. Discuss...

Who would you hire to replace CTC?

Yea, roster management is definitely one of my complaints about Crean -
Rule 1. Keep the parties at home. Rule 2. Do not smoke weed until you get to the NBA.
I completely agree on the first point but sad as it may be the second may be asking too much. I'd say something more like, don't smoke weed ESPECIALLY during the NCAA tournament when the suspension can be a half a year. Oh and if the school tests you and you're positive you sit for four games and make the whole team run til they thoroughly hate you Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Mitch mcgary from Michigan was going to be suspended for the entire upcoming season because he tested positive for weed. On a lot of other forums or sites people all call on the NCAA that the rule is ridiculous. They recently changed the rule from a full season to a half a season. However, in that, a somewhat similar situation, people clamor against the laws and rules saying "oh it's gonna be legal soon anyways" or "it's not a performance enhancer so who cares" I'm curious why nobody ever questions a law that many people find equally ridiculous (21 drinking age vs weed being legal). If they're old enough to get shot at for their country, I think they're old enough to have adult fun at little 5. Obviously the law is the law and they're at fault for disobeying it (in awe strikingly dumb fashion... Using a fake during the week there's more cops than ever). They now have to deal with their leadership being called into question and rightfully so. They knew what the ramifications were and took a risk that backfired. Hopefully now they run til they puke, get themselves together (whether that entails a suspension or another form of discipline I don't know) and refocus on a successful year. The time to buckle down is now. You only see improvement by practicing. Work hard in the offseason and see results during the season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

For These Troubled Times...AS THE TWO GUARDS TURN!!
KelleyHoosh replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I appreciate the optimism and was going to start a similar (though not nearly as funny) thread. Look at the silver lining, now these two will be keeping their noses clean. More time to improve. There is plenty to be optimistic about. This is not the end of the world for anybody. Sometimes fanhood can get poisoned by being too strong. When a team or program is someone's entire livelihood, these things tend to kill your mood far more than it should. Always put things in perspective. Sure, be mad about it as a fan, but don't let it put you in a bad mood all day. Thats not good for anyone. Hopefully the kids learn, the team improves, and we watch some good Hoosier basketball this year. Hoosier Hysteria is closer than it feels -

I could see going for the younger Pitino if he has a lot of success. To be honest though, I'd really like Sean Miller -
Who would you hire to replace CTC?
KelleyHoosh replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thats definitely not ideal. But I mean, he still has the energy to build a program like SMU into something very formidable from nothing. He's been successful at Kansas and UNC. Played professionally. Coached professionally. Theres probably nobody more well connected in the world of basketball. Luring him from SMU would clearly not be easy. And his age is definitely a deterrent. But would I take maybe three years of Larry Brown endorsing my program, coaching and recruiting? Yeah, I would like that. I think it would be kind of a revitalizing shock to the program. A move that gets people to go "wow" -

This may sound ridiculous, but maybe Larry Brown? He's great with X's and O's. I know hes a journey man coach, but hes (to my knowledge) been able to build pretty good foundations every place he has been. Obviously he isn't a long term solution, but he could "right the ship" so to speak until a good long term option came along... I realize this is unlikely given that he is only going into his second year at smu. But its cool to think about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
Wow. Well, at least its not that bad!

During times like these the site is likely to get a lot of traffic and I couldn't find a more appropriate thread to bump. But I just wanna say to the guests: SIGN UP!!!! The board is a lot of fun to read along with and its even better when you can voice your opinion. I found btownbanners after googling Indiana sports message boards after I got accepted to the school.

This parallel could be totally off, but I don't know since I wasn't following then. Did Sampson have as much or more trouble with players staying out of trouble? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Since all this is coming out I guess I'll just leave this here... About a month ago Jeremy found out his gf was cheating on him with a football player. He ended up hitting her and a couple of the players on the bball team jumped the football player. Now theres bad blood between the football team and the bball team. If you all can recall Glass had a meeting with both Wilson and Crean and that's what that was about. I wont name the other players since they are still on the team. Maybe basketball4u can confirm if he/she wants to.
That's wild... Would have been hard to keep under wraps but I'm sure when a story is that crazy a lot of effort is out into keeping it hush hush... Any confirmation from basketball4iU would be awesome Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Ya know what... good. More time for them in the gym and weight room. (Obviously not actually good)
