Indiana vs. Maryland BTT POSTGAME Thread
KelleyHoosh replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm pretty sure it was noted by several fans that Crean was lighting into refs tonight -
Agler, Brooks, Stratman and Muensterman leaving IUWBB
KelleyHoosh replied to biteoftheapple's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Obviously there is more to it, and I have a relatively small sample size, but I wasn't really moved by Moren's coaching prowess. Didn't particularly look like the players were either. And I thought she horribly misused Buss. -

I understand you don't like Glass. Its a stretch to bring him into this -

My bad, typo -
OT: NCAA penalizes Syracuse and Boeheim
KelleyHoosh replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not surprised Crean publicly defends Boeheim. Didn't they work closely on team USA? Not to mention, all coaches have a vested interest in the most player friendly environment so they have less rules to follow, so winning will be easier. -
Potential coaching change suggestions
KelleyHoosh replied to Bryan Medema's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't want him for our opening right now, but I think in a few years Dan Hurley is going to be a great coaching prospect -
Can We Keep Chuck Regardless Of Crean's Status?
KelleyHoosh replied to Diadem's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Now that we can agree on. Solid player? Yeah. Super star? Not on this level. If he can pull Bryant however, that would be a very nice get. My desire to maintain Chuck isn't solely about Holt or Bryant, but because it helps when coaching staffs have a lot of turnover to have a constant. It helps kids already on the team feel like it isn't an entirely new place from where they committed to play, it maintains some stability in terms of relations with academic advisors/university administration, it gives the new coach someone to comfortably come to when adjusting to life as a coach specifically at IU. And, if he can get some talent on the roster its a pretty big plus. -
Can We Keep Chuck Regardless Of Crean's Status?
KelleyHoosh replied to Diadem's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
True, but how much of this is because he hurt his ankle (is it still hurt)? Luckily for him, both of those things can be fixed with the proper training. If he improves those and grows another inch or two, we have a legit 4. -

I think you're grossly devaluing Holt. I think he could turn into a quality starting 4 for us or valuable 6th man. Remember his outrageous break out performance against Pitt? Crean seems to be holding him back, for whatever reason. -
I don't really know that our administration has the juice for us to win 20 games then dump Crean. If we lose this badly down the stretch, don't hit 20 and lose to NW, it is a lot more justifiable to part ways. One more win and I say we are firmly on the bubble and need a good showing against Maryland A loss and I think no tourney, no Crean
-
Yeah, but circumstances are different now. He's coming off a bad year at UF and he did sign with the Magic once then reneged. If nothing else it shows a willingness to listen. If we make the pot sweet enough... I still doubt we get Donovan though

KelleyHoosh replied to Diadem's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'd argue the signing of Holt works as a huge boost for Martin's resume. 1) We hired Chuck late, so he worked quick 2) Knowing of Holt shows he is "plugged in" to an elite east coast AAU circuit (he knew where to look) 3) Holt wasn't highly rated, so his eye for talent is pretty good (or a friend made a good recommendation) 4) It (to a degree) filled a major hole in the roster. Holt can turn into a good 4 year player here. If Martin can grab Bryant, I will be very impressed by him and would like to retain him to ease the transition (if and when there is) to a new coach. That said, I also think recruiting aces are pretty dime a dozen. -
Yeah I definitely prefer Donovan. He has actually won (I'm sure Stevens has the capacity to, obviously) national championships. And he has proven he can recruit at a high level.

Making light or being condescending? Positive spin or ignorant bliss? I'm not going to derail the thread, if you have a problem pm me
-
Your tone is getting unnecessary here. This was entirely unprovoked.

As far as I'm concerned this was a positive outcome. One step closer to Crean being on the way out and big recruits seeing a pretty good atmosphere

Take the Crean/Robinson talk out of this thread guys

This could be a scenario where a great player like Bryant gets fumbled to a program like Missouri. May not want to come to IU with a new coach, may not like the situation at Syracuse may not be room at UK
