Even if they don't stay and play together, Thon playing at IU would give us a huge edge in landing Matur
-
I think too often team chemistry is an easy cop out. Assuming Thon isn't a diva, lets say off court chemistry isn't disrupted in a negative light. On court, it takes a while to adapt to playing with new teammates. But, if Thon can get his feet wet in practice and garbage time, he could develop into a contributor come March. Then, we would likely be the favorite to land his brother and he would have some experience and could be our star during the '16-17 year. Consider me on the Thon train

Ha. The fact he knows the number of days since they last lost just proves the little brother complex

Georgetown being on this list really kind of shocks me -

This is about the branding of IU. Please stay on topic and refrain from turning this thread into your personal soapbox for your vendetta against Crean -

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/25188803/providences-paschal-chukwu-to-transfer Wouldn't play next year, but this is a quality 7-2 big. We should look to get involved here, hope the staff gets on it -

Indiana doesn't need rebranding. It needs winning. Win and it all comes back. IU right now isn't the Indiana of "This is Indiana" -
UM Graduate Transfer Max Bielfeldt To IU

I realize options are kinda limited at this stage in the game, but I'm honestly not crazy about him. He would be better than nothing -
You'd be complaining if he didn't kick them off too.

Why is it that Swanigan didn't seriously consider us?

Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
KelleyHoosh replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Name calling isn't gonna be tolerated, so you can stop that. I agree with your sentiment though, hopefully the kids learn, and it was the right move by Crean. -
I think Hanner would've been a great weak side help at the 4 to Thomas Bryant. I agree Davis' role would've been minimal. Honestly, Hanner is so much wasted potential, has to be a candidate for biggest bust. I'm glad at the message this sends, hopefully some of this discipline rolls over into the defense........

Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
KelleyHoosh replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't really care about it from the perspective of reputation or portrayal of the university. The fact is, IU isn't turning out kids who are good representatives for the university. It makes the program harder to like and root for when you don't win big and the kids aren't very classy people -
Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
KelleyHoosh replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think kicking Devin off is just about the best course of action, for all parties, and let me explain why: From the perspective of caring about Devin: Devin was known to be immature as a freshman, okay, not really a problem as a lot of 18 year olds are and he's probably enjoying his status on campus. After his head trauma, that changed. The kid almost lost his life and was extremely lucky to have come out as well as he did. Now, he's been cited for marijuana, with Hanner having been present. His time in Bloomington has been marred in controversy and turmoil. This suggests to me that IU is just not the ideal location for him. It doesn't mean Devin is a bad guy, it means he needs a fresh start. He has run into so much trouble, may be hanging with a crowd that makes him act stupid, that I honestly believe it is in his best interest to pursue the rest of his career elsewhere. From the perspective of the team next season: We loaded up on the front court, and have plenty of depth with Holt, Hanner, Bryant, Morgan, Troy as a stretch as well as Collin. Now, the depth is decent and Devin is expendable. This isn't to say we should get rid of him to free up a scholarship at all. I'm saying, it is not as if he is Yogi... there are plenty of other options available for his spot on the team. He is clearly not prioritizing his role on the team, not because he is smoking marijuana like so many others, but because he doesn't care to take preventative measures to avoid getting caught. Doing so in a dorm or campus housing is just plain stupid. You don't need a kid on the team that doesn't take his commitment seriously, especially at this high of a level. From the disciplinary perspective: I could say so much for this category. Look at the off court behavior the last year. Unacceptable and unbelievable. The fact that this behavior persists tells me that there must be a change. There has to be a wake up call. We thought that Devin's accident may be that. Apparently, it did not wake up even Devin himself. Maybe these guys will see how serious they have to be if one of their buddies is sent packing. Everyone should be running miles, all off season, and be reminded they're running during the day because of the choices they're making at night. Maybe then we won't be waking up to bad news. Don't even get me started on what punishment Hanner should face. I'm undecided on that frankly. Being 100% honest, I think Devin should go, for the best of the team, Devin, and the program as a whole. -
Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

My last take: I'm pro legalization. But, as mdn said, there is a time and a place... The place: not a campus dorm The time: not while on scholarship, while you could be drug tested, when you should be working on school/basketball .... There needs to be growth. The amount of repeat offenders on our team suggests they aren't learning from their mistakes. Prior precedents be damned, show them you mean business, show Devin the door, suspend Hanner 6-10 games, not exhibition either -

Disciplinarian is not an adjective I would use for Crean. I think players need an element of fear for their coach. They probably respect Crean and his position, but they don't fear him in it -

At what point do you just... grow up? I know everyone is different, and I know weed is fun for a lot of people. But Devin obviously doesn't have the right mentality and should get the boot. He's what? 20? 21? Coming off a head injury. His time should be spent on improving himself. He doesn't have time to be wasting on smoking. Add to this that its in the dorm, and how much of a bone head can you be? I hope Crean gives him the boot and it serves as a wake up call to everyone else on the team. -

Unbelievable. -
In my opinion, Golson had all the talent and tools to make things work at ND. What he didn't have, was the mentality/personality. The quarterback is ideally a charismatic and vocal leader of the team. Golson didn't really ever take the team by the reigns, often alone on the sidelines, getting too down on himself, blowing off Kelly on the sidelines etc. You gotta have a short memory, and bad plays stuck with him. I think ND will be mostly fine, but as you said, if Zaire goes down, things don't look good
-
Wouldn't happen in a million years, will be a great pick up for someone though
-
I think its easier to find quality front seven guys late in the draft than it is to find game changers on the outside, if the Colts have a lot of picks, they may feel good about guys they're confident they can get later

Report: IU vs UK series may return by next season
KelleyHoosh replied to bleedhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sadly, this game would benefit us way more than UK. UK gets all the exposure all the time. It feels an awful lot like we are Purdue to Kentucky's IU these days. We hate them and they don't care about us. They have no incentive to play us, so they won't, unless its on their terms. I guess Cal doesn't want a piece of Assembly Hall. And thats fine. We don't NEED Kentucky. We just need a premiere opponent. If UK doesn't want to do that reasonably, okay, see ya -
