(2017) PG Trevon Duval

I know a couple St. Benedicts guys. I'll have to ask about him -
Now that thons off the board for this season
KelleyHoosh replied to drewheck's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Keep the scholarship in house and let it open up again when Burton is gone. He works hard and represents the team well. Why commit it to a 4 year player who won't make an impact? Or a judo who will take it longer than button and probably still probably not play. There's not gonna be a lot of impact at this stage in the game -
I just think it hurts us since he was down to us and ASU. Now theres plenty of time for other schools to get in the mix
-
Any opinions on what this means for our recruitment of him? I assume it hurts our chances

5-star 7-footer Thon Maker announced tonight he will graduate in June of 2016, not December of 2015; enroll in college in 2016. Per Rabjohns

I don't believe you guys. Meet me at the srsc in mid August -
Thanks for the correction. Thought I read somewhere it was roommates. Let's hope for no more of this type of news this offseason

I'm concerned that it said Allen's roommates were present for one of the drug deals. I'm assuming he lives with football players. Also, unpopular opinion time: while I wholeheartedly agree this is an awful look for the program and should be avoided at all costs, I'm fine taking on a couple of risky personalities who can elevate the team to the next level.

LeBron James not a class athlete?
KelleyHoosh replied to FindEndNow's topic in National Basketball Association
I like LeBron. A cocky attitude makes the game fun for me to watch -

Yeah there's a thing called doing too much. Ty Rogers is a prime example -
If you take it on its face I guess. I think we can all agree that there's a lot going on in this recruitment that it would make sense if we ended up taking a pass. A lot goes on behind the scenes that we don't know. I'm very "eh" when it comes to Thon. It's kind of tempting for me to say something along the lines of go number 2 or get off the pot at this point

Weak Indiana HS Senior Class
KelleyHoosh replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Playing devils advocate, as long as these kids care once they get here, why do we really care where they are from? State pride? It really doesn't make a difference on the court. Where it does make a difference is the off court resources being spent. I'm pretty fine with the cost we are currently putting out if it leads to kids with a good attitude who bust their butt for the program. The problem lately seems to be finding productive kids who represent the university. If they come from Indiana or Zimbabwe I don't really care as long as they give it 100%, because at the end of the day I'm not footing the bill and I want the best product on the court. If the staff finds that, I don't care where it comes from. (Emphasis on playing devils advocate) -

I think this one is about done fellas. Make a new thread if you wanna debate this, but time to stop with this discussion in the Brunk thread -

Weak Indiana HS Senior Class
KelleyHoosh replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We should go after stars no matter where they are from. If we are looking for roll players, unless the staff has a particular interest in a guy, the bulk should be from Indiana IMO. Just like every state flagship -
(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
KelleyHoosh replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Not to make this blown out of proportion, and I definitely still think we have the inside track here, but it kinda feels like the staff botched not being the first to offer here -

What should be the biggest focus for players and coaches this offseason?
KelleyHoosh replied to FindEndNow's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What really sticks out to me above all else is strength. I can't remember how many times last year I was beyond frustrated at how we got pushed around and just seemed overall soft on the court. Obviously everyone has their own skill set to work out, but as a team, defense aside, strength definitely needs across the board improvement IMO -

UM Graduate Transfer Max Bielfeldt To IU
KelleyHoosh replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It doesn't make any sense to not want him for IU not being his top choice. Plenty of kids every year end up going somewhere that wasn't their first choice. The only thing that matters is him putting forth maximum effort while he's here, if he does come here -
Will the new stipend give some schools an unfair recruiting advantage?
KelleyHoosh replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think they should make a stipend system that incentivizes academic/athletic excellence. Just like coaches have a base pay, players will get a base pay: a scholarship that they can choose to make the most of or just skate by staying eligible. With a job title of student-athlete, you can get paid for performing extremely well in your role by getting good grades while fulfilling your commitment to the team. Or they could also earn their "extras" by performing well on the field/court. This pushes kids to do their best in every facet of university life and ultimately gives them the most fulfilling experience. I realize this won't happen, but I think its a good idea for giggles. -

I haven't followed their recruitments that closely, I suppose it's possible but given that they visited together/have traveled the world together I figured they'd want the same college.
