Analysis: Is Kevin Wilson on the hot seat?
KelleyHoosh replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I doubt he would consider us. I'm sure when his show cause is up a higher profile program will get to him -
https://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--smu-s-larry-brown-facing--lack-of-coach-control--charge-from-ncaa-023341831-ncaab.html Brown is basketball greatness, but can't stay out of trouble with the NCAA. Facing a "lack of coach control" charge. Paragraphs of interest: At particular issue is the role of former SMU assistant coach Ulric Maligi and a basketball secretary in allegedly assisting Frazier with coursework. Maligi took an indefinite leave from the program in January 2015. Frazier played for the Mustangs during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons before he was deemed "academically ineligible" in January 2015 and missed the rest of the season. There has been no clarification yet as to his status for the 2015-16 season, but Frazier has not left the program. At issue with Brown is what he knew about Frazier's situation, and what he did about it. In recent case precedent, the NCAA has suspended head coaches for multiple games. Most recently, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was hit with a nine-game suspension that will be served in the 2015-16 season. Syracuse is appealing that decision.

Man this is big... Can't wait for noon -
Its fine you feel that way. But this is not the thread for the outlook of our 2016 recruiting class. Its also a huge stretch to say without De'ron the class can't even be decent. Example of appropriate comment in this thread: De'ron is critical to our recruiting success. Losing out on him would really hurt the program. Example of not appropriate comment in this thread: Crean needs land De'ron and he is failing to put together a good 2016 class. Glass has to get rid of him. That serves for everyone. I hope this provides some clarity. Any questions, please PM a toon squad, mod or admin. CCG and Pap work incredibly hard on these recruiting files, we want to do our best to keep them as clean as possible. Thank you

Larry Brown has SMU in trouble?
KelleyHoosh replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What I find interesting about this is how the NCAA seems to have identified Brown as a potential trouble maker after two violations at previous stops, yet Calipari is untouchable at UK... -
Yeah, Arizona being a powerhouse and close to him makes way too much sense. Not confident here but what do I know. Hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised

Possible 4-Star Forward Addition For This Coming Season?
KelleyHoosh replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My initial thought is to pass since we already have so many bigs, but if he can bring defense, bring him on. We are losing a lot after this year, I'll take a high quality defensive big any day -
He's going to be good. But if he is a major contributor this year, I think it says more about how bad the team will be than how good OG is. Like Old Friend said, there are about 8 people ahead of him. Let him get his feet wet this year and then we can see how much we hype him up

Some of my best memories with my dad are going to camps like these. I used to go to the Duke camps mostly, and it just made my whole summer playing in front of coaches and talking to the players. Really still one of the coolest experiences I can think of. They should have ones for adults.

6'9, 247 composite 3 star. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g92i9_g_Xc Not a lot of tape that I've been able to find. Looks pretty meh to me. I'd rather hold out for impact players in the next cycle -
T. Crean's '15-'16 Talent Pool One Of IU's Best, Ever.
KelleyHoosh replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Right. I just think its kinda dumb to write off our bench since it "only has three stars." They can still be a talented group that contributes -

I think stars are the most useless thing from recruiting services -
I don't have any expectations for a program that flat out sucks. We were a dumpster fire before he got here and we are still bad. A bad program that is also a revolving door for coaches will seriously always be a door mat. If we get stability in the program and a good core of players and show potential, then at the least we become a serviceable option for decent coaches to use us as a stepping stone. Unrelated, I think Wilson will get it done and I think we get 5-7 wins depending how the season breaks. That is acceptable to me for IU football
-
Maybe my interaction with Wilson has left me a bit bias, but honestly we will not attract a coach from a similar background if we were to fire Wilson. Nobody is going to be willing to go to a dumpster fire of a program if they are also quick to let you go. And I would argue that yes, five years would be quick. Wilson is recruiting well and we caught a tough break last year injury wise. I think it would be better for us to ride out Wilson's contract and trust he will get it right than bounce from coach to coach hoping we can catch lightning in a bottle
