What are your expectations for the 2015-16 season?
KelleyHoosh replied to darkwingj's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Fact is, on paper we should be confident in a final four with this roster. I realize Crean is why people doubt and that may be well founded. But perception rules and no coach is going to want to step in to a program where an elite 8 gets you fired. They won't take into account everything from the seasons prior because they will look at it on the surface and haven't followed up close like all of us -

IMO there's no way he gets the boot with an elite 8 finish. That would largely be considered a success I think. I also don't think we should lend much thought to his recruiting class. It doesn't matter if the results aren't there come March -
ESPNs Way too early top-25
KelleyHoosh replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I like holt starting from a height perspective, though he gives great fire power off the bench. A nice burst of energy. I hope RJ can be similar to that. I also think I read Holts been working on his outside game so he can fit the stretch 4 role Crean loves. If he has, we could be dangerous -

It means we are doing something right that the big programs are poaching from our staff... It means another thing that we can't hold on to them -
ESPNs Way too early top-25
KelleyHoosh replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
14 feels a bit high to me. Maybe we are there talent wise, but ranking wise I think we are more 17-21 range. Defense has light years to go, front court is completely unproven. I definitely think we have the potential to be top 10, but I want to see us play before I'm comfortable saying we deserve that EDIT: I'm interested to see the personnel choices Crean makes. If he goes Yogi, Blackmon, Troy, Holt, Bryant we are big and lethal. I think I may prefer that to Yogi, Johnson, Blackmon, Troy, Bryant Either way I think Johnson/Holt are great options off the bench -

Meh, 10 schools is about average for kids at this point in the college process -
Ready to hit the ground running. Sounds like we have an A team ready to go and give the best IU sports coverage

"Indiana makes the cut for a pair of 2016 prospects"
KelleyHoosh replied to Naismith's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The execution of this post leaves a bit to be desired, but the idea behind it is interesting. CBB is essentially a stepping stone for kids with elite basketball talent to get publicity and build their personal brand for the NBA draft. How much can they really learn in one year of college ball? Are they really honing their skills? They do usually get better IMO because they have access to better facilities/coaching and more structure in place and they're playing against a higher talent level than they did in high school. Everyone claims kids are becoming divas. Is that a product of AAU? Has it always been like this but social media just calls more attention to it? The answer in my opinion probably lays somewhere in the middle. -

LSU seems to have a lot of recruiting momentum these days. 247 seems to think he's staying in state at Memphis/Tennessee. -
Wonder if its realistic to hope we can lock him in after his OV

Looks like Howland is putting the full court press on him. I think he would be a great pick up for us, but don't really feel like we are in it here -
Five Key Questions for IU Football
KelleyHoosh replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
It may be because I followed Notre Dame football very closely when the defense was under Bob Diaco, but I'm a big fan of the 3-4 defense. I think we see a big leap in the second season under Knorr here. I'm looking at Nile Sykes this year as a surprise impact player. -
The Other Meet and Greet Thread or Something

Meaning behind user name: Was a DA to Kelley, took my first semester of business classes and realized a degree in it is not what I wanted. Couldn't stand A100. Took Journalism classes and loved it. Now probably going to major in strategic communications/PR/journalism (undecided) and minor in management from Kelley. Approximate Age and Location: 19 and from New Jersey Are you a born and raised IU fan? My original college sports love is a couple hours north of Bloomington in South Bend. Still to this day a huge Notre Dame football fan. My grandfather and great uncle went there, dad verbally committed to Dan Devine before having a knee injury in his senior year of high school and getting the offer pulled. Die hard ND fan. Also loved Duke basketball growing up, my father is a huge sports fan and instilled a love of football basketball and baseball in me from birth. He loved the way Coach K ran his program at the time. My dad also loved Bob Knight and would often tell me stories about him/read his books. I eventually read those books and was a fan of Knight before I was a fan of IU. Always had a fondness for IU and some cousins went there during the 70s championship years, so at family reunions they encouraged me to look there. I visited campus and was sold. When you first knew you were an IU fan? After I visited it was my clear cut first choice. What sports did you play in High School and College? Football, basketball and baseball. Besides IU, favorite sports teams? Notre Dame football. Not a huge fan of pro sports. Did you attend IU? Currently do. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? My favorite moment was the first time I walked into Assembly Hall. The court took my breath away. As a college basketball junkie, I've thought of Assembly Hall as a mecca of the sport. It did not disappoint. As far as actual moments, the Pitt game was pretty great. I was in GA and Emmitt Holt had his coming out party. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? J.J. Redick no doubt. What is your favorite IU Football memory? The Penn State game. We didn't win, but the defense played well if I remember correctly. Plus a lot of my friends go to PSU so there was some good natured ribbing going on. Who is your favorite IU Football player? Tevin Coleman. Beast. Best IU Sports game ever attended? IU vs Pitt at Assembly Hall. Had tickets to SMU which I couldn't go to because of a flight home, and Maryland because my girlfriend and I had long standing plans to go to a concert in Chicago. Still kicking myself in the butt for that one What brings you to this board? No better place for serious IU athletics discussion -
(2016) PG Tony Carr to PSU

Kids look for different things. PSU has a lot of appeal, especially to a kid from Pennsylvania. He may value different things than we offer. IU will be fine -

Analysis: Is Kevin Wilson on the hot seat?
KelleyHoosh replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Something I think that plays into the peripheral of this topic is the complete lack of student fan support. I mean seriously my local high school team drew a much better crowd student wise anyway. Kids tailgate super hard, aren't a cohesive student unit like at Notre Dame or big football schools, and leave by halftime. Its frustrating and I'm sure isn't a good look to recruits. Who wants to be part of a program nobody is excited about? If our student body gets more immersed in the football team and started to care more, I think football players would be more inclined to feel something was being built and take a chance on IU. I like the move to have a night game, I think it may play well -
