Potential fallout from coaching change
Feathery replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Marshall is only 52 years old, so his age isn't important. He has a solid 15-20 years left in the tank. What you knocked Marshall for you could knock Stevens for. He had a core group of players that made his job easier and more successful. The difference is Marshall has shown he could win championships without those guys. He also identified thosenguys and recruited those guys. Stevens would be the grand slam but if he has said no, Gregg Marshall is a home run. These names I've seen around like Donovan and Pitino are a joke. Those guys aren't leaving for another college job. No matter who we hire outside of Stevens, ppl with complain. So we get the best guy we can and if it is Marshall, we just got a big upgrade. -

I hear ya on the no brainer part. I want Stevens as much as everyone else. I'm bring Marshall I to the conversation as a guy who has done fantastic work and would still be an upgrade if BS says no. The mans tournament record should be taken with a grain of salt bc he was at small schools. But notice how he has dominated his conference with like players. This is a Bo Ryan level move imo. Someone from below the top tier with a long proven track record that plays a style IU fans like/understands/appreciates. -

Davis beat coach K, who is better? One game means very little to me. I've seen enough from Crean to know he is not a good enough coach at a blue blood. Hell even BAMA fans don't want him bc he isn't good enough. Go look at the resume of Gregg Marshall. Tell me where you don't see him as being ready for the jump up to IU? His track record says everywhere he coaches he wins, wins consistently, and wins championships. -

I don't hope, I know. Crean isn't a good enough coach, plain and simple. Upgrading will not be a problem. Yes I'll shake my damn head. -

There were rumors back in January from some AAU coaches that Yogi could be UCLA bound as a grad transfer. So the NBA isn't his only option. -

I think he is gone and already knows his future, possibly his choice. Since the MSU game he has been calm and relaxed. Also has been getting emotional in post game interviews. Totally out of his character of a spastic, intense coach. The stress has been removed bc it's settled. I think it's a man at peace with his future and getting emotional about leaving people he love behind. -
#10 Indiana vs #7 Wichita State - Fri - 2:45pm ET - CBS
Feathery replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Looks like only one team plays good defense and can operate in a slower pace that has historically been the key to winning in March. WSU to win. -
The future will take care of itself...??? Is that code for the decision has been made already and it's not been let out. Creans demeanor that past 3 games indicates something has happened. He has been calm and at peace, post game interviews he has gotten emotional. if that's the case I have no problem going 100% behind the program. Notice I said program and not a single team. What is best for this team might not be the best for the program, unless the decision has already been made.

I was referring to Markus Kennedy, their 6'9" post player. I had forgotten about Nic Moore, so their 2nd best player. :)
-
Yep but we are also without Hanner again. We aren't 100% healthy and they definitely take that into consideration.
-
Full body of work is what they look at. But I also was told they do consider what form your in and injuries. Let's not forget Hanner is out, our form isn't the greatest, and our SMU win isn't as impressive as ppl make it out to be bc they were without their best player. I think we are in, but if UConn wins today look out.

I was under the impression Duke would be the ones that wanted him. UNC seemed like a better for Shaka. -
Also we got beat by MSU without Dawson and our SMU win was without their best player. According to DD those intrinsic things make our resume not look as good. He still has us in l, unless UConn wins

Are we competing with UNC for his signature? Didn't realize Roy was hanging them up already. -

Sounds good to me. Let's hope DePaul and Crean see it the same way. Or Seton Hall, or GT, or Bama. -

Coming off 2 subpar seasons and hoping to land a player so we have a shot at a decent season......let that sink in and tell me if adding a big is the answer to the big picture. -

Great place to watch a game. Love to see Vincennes Lincoln come out of it this weekend. -

And we have a winner. -
Hey he called a timeout with 2 seconds left, Maryland ball, and the score out of reach. It doesn't get more end of game than that. But hey that play he drew up to let Maryland run the last 2 seconds out was elite.

2010 vs 2011 recruiting classes - Which killed us more?
Feathery replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree is the 2012 class. The movement might have actually been about moving Crean elsewhere. Outside of Yogi, that class has been a huge mistake. -
Hypothetical. Crean could pull Priller and April's scholarships but then they can still get a free ride at IU? They just can't play on the team anymore.
-
Definitely not the same. But to be 2 over already and still recruiting a position of need is ridiculous. If he stays the Creaning needs to stop. According to the IU student bill of rights their scholarship is supposed to be guaranteed for 4 years.
