  1. We did have enough talent. Then our PG got a concussion and missed Ames and he wasn’t the same until about 5 games left in the season. Crazy how we went on a losing streak then. Deron got injured. Race got injured. Green got suspended. That’s 3 of our best players. This also also reality and explains the 1-12. You realize if we go 3-10 or 2-11 we make the NCAA right? So all your worry is literally over 1 possible win while we were injured.
  2. Bc they had realistic expectations? I hoped for a NCAA tournament birth and we were close. I didn’t expect it in year 2.
  3. Yes and he won more. What’s the point? I’m a huge Pearl fan and it has taken him, like most top coaches, 4 years to build his program. You have to get your guys, then as the mature develop them.
  4. Nope. And neither does Archie which is why you see him looking for veterans to come in this offseason. No reason to complain about a year from now, when we don’t know what the roster will look like or what the outcomes of the games will be. Recruiting may not be dead if we miss next year because look at the experienced talent that will be on the roster that 4th year. That is shaping up to be a really good team. Win a lot then and you can recover in recruiting. I have no doubt in my mind Archie can get us to the Crean level of being good every 3-4 years. The question I have is, once that teams run is over, did he build for sustained success? I won’t get that answer for a few more years but I’m liking the strategy so far.
  5. Archie has done better in his first 2 years here than Pearl did at Auburn, as he should. Took Pearl 4 years to get it going down there and he is a damn good coach.
  6. I see a lot of belly aching, that’s not people being patient. We both agree that we need to make the dance in year 3. You need to get their in 3 years at a school like IU. I’m not going to be critical of Archie in year 2, when year 3 is the time we actually see what we have. I’m a believer that you give the man some breathing room and let him work. Let the results on the court decide. So far I’ve seen improvement from year 1 to 2, with a post season north. That’s a positive trajectory. Could it have been better? Sure. But it wasn’t and it doesn’t directly impact my daily life. It does impact Archie’s, he knows where the teams needs to be and he is looking to make it right. Relax. If we don’t make the dance next year, his seat will be red hot in year 4. But his roster should look damn good by then too.
  7. You need to stop making sense.

Not what I asked. Would you want to have one of them be the coach at IU?

Would you want Calipari as head coach?

So complain. But it’s also safe for others to challenge those who complain.

You don’t fire a AD when he just hired a young coach for your flagship program. It would be asinine. It would change the dynamic for Archie and put him under pressure that’s not needed. He is just starting to get his program going and you don’t disrupt that bc fans want blood for years past. EVERYONE needs to move on from what happened during the Crean years. They are over, done, finished. Get on board and support this coach. The constant negativity by a fraction of the fan base is embarrassing and shows lack of perspective. I’ve been saying for 2 years, that nobody will know what we actually have until after year 3. At that point complain away, or more likely you will be happy with the trajectory.

You wait to fire Glass until you see how his 2 big hires do. To early to tell on those 2 and he has done well in other areas. People need to relax.

As for Beard. I wouldn’t start over again so soon. Speak to me on a year. I actually think Archie is the right guy, if people just be patient. We improved. He is setting the foundation. He is recruiting Indiana kids. He is building for long term stable success. Some of the best coaches now and all time have had to build it up. Go look at K, Izzo, and Jim Calhoun’s records to start their careers at Duke, State, and UConn. They all took 3-4 years to get it where fans were happy. This was a rebuild. Not a total construction like Crean, but a rebuild (remodel). Anyone with a brain knew whoever came in after Crean was going to need 3 years to fix the problems, unless we went out and got Cal or Pitino. All I see is IU fans saying they don’t want that style of coach here. Archie couldn’t kick more than Gelon off the team or our APR would be so low we would have been banned from the NCAA’s. Good luck recruiting with that. Archie is making the most of the situation. If we won 1-2 more this year and in the NCAA’s nobody would be talking this ridiculous talk of moving on already. His guys are freshman, relax.

That $7 mil is just for his first year. They had to structure in his buyout in his first year to help him with taxes.

Of course, but that doesn’t mean he hates IU and will put them in the worst light very time.
  16. Correct. This is where having players who aren’t soft, who are mentally tough, and play with an edge are key. He is changing a culture, that takes time.
  17. Crean got a 3 year pass from me. Archie will get the same. I’ve seen enough solid defense and missed wide open shots to know the system can work.
  18. I don’t agree with that. Our shooting woes are in large part bc 2 of the highest volume shooters, Romeo and Morgan, were 2 of the worst % shooters. Phinisee, Durham, and Green are all adequate shooters. Hunter can shoot it from deep, and I’m confident he will play. Once the game slows down for Damezi, he will be a 40% plus shooter.
  19. The only way I don’t see transfers is if we need kids to stay for APR reasons. I’m not sure where that stands and if kids leave if it drops our score to low.
  20. Why? If they know they aren’t pro players and they are halfway or closer to a degree. Get your degree then grad transfer.

Once again. Snow doesn’t hate IU, he disliked Crean. He is on good terms with both Miller brothers. He used to watch film with Sean Miller when he coached Xavier.
  22. I think what they really mean is, some of the guys don’t fit what Archie wants to do. They have the wrong skill sets. Maybe they just haven’t developed fast enough. Who knows.

Me too. I’m in favor of the MLS model. Many MLS clubs, eventually all, have developmental academies for youth players. If the players are good enough they will be signed by the professional team that developed them. If they aren’t professional level, but still good, then college is an option.

I’m saying that you circumvented title IX, so you could actually do away with non revenue sports. So you can pay players what they are worth. If you want to have non revenue sports, then you still follow title IX.

Create a new division in basketball. All power 5 schools could afford it. It would be more like football in that aspect. If schools afford it, then they could drop down to a lower tier. I don’t think it will happen this way, just throwing out ideas.
