Woj is reporting that Beilein and the Cavs are looking to part ways. If a big donor wanted to fork over the $$ to make a change after the season, that would be a big upgrade. I get Beilein just turned 67, but he could get this program back on track. Heck hire him and have him hire the HC in waiting as an assistant. I have said I’m not giving up on Archie, but if the opportunity arises to get who would be the top coach in the conference, you do it.

NCAA Immediate Play Transfer Close to Reality for Next Season

I believe that is grad transfers. IU has to offer a program the previous school did not offer, if I remember correctly. -
NCAA Immediate Play Transfer Close to Reality for Next Season

This. I would expect Archie to go find the top Mid Major PG and Scorer and sell them on playing time. -
Franklins lack of playing time is weird to me. He has shot 38% from 3 since the Nebraska game, but his minutes have dropped this month. The last 4 games he has logged 7, 10, 2, and 6 minutes. The 4 games before that he logged 23, 15, 10, and 18. When he was getting minutes he was the most productive.

Purdue needs to go 3/4 to end the regular season to have a shot come BTT. They could easily go 2-2 and need to make the BTT championship game.
-
Team still plays better with Phinisee. I’m starting to have my doubts about him and we need to get a Juco/grad transfer PG, regardless of Phinisee development. He is only a sophomore and we knew coming into college he was a 4 year player that needed to develop. I won’t give up on him before he is an upperclassman.

I like the combo of Race and Trayce, as they have been productive together. PG - Phinisee SG - Green (if he struggles to the bench) SF - Hunter PF - Race C - TJD

If we want a young coach, stick with Archie as he is young and learning on the job. IU isn’t a learn on the job program. Need to be able to hit the ground running and know your ****. I want a coach with a track record of success. I went to USI and would love love love Pearl, but it isn’t going to happen.

He isn’t a long term coach, but he fights the ship IMO. Can take next years guys and make the dance and stabilize things.

Dakich was saying today on his radio station that if he was Glass, he would be calling Beilein immediately. That these things happen before a coach is fired all the time, gave examples. Said if it’s not a former IU player Beilein or Stevens are the 2 he would get behind. Also stated fundamentals are lacking badly and if you can’t guard a screen other than hedging then you can’t coach. Can’t say I disagree.

Go look at the 3 pt % of Phinisee, Hunter, and Franklin over the last month. It’s the offense and being comfortable in it. The plays have the talent. The staff isn’t getting it out of them.

If I’m the AD, and my coach is struggling this bad, then I make him make the move. If he quits I don’t have to pay a buyout and can get a bet the r replacement.
-
Then Archie should hire him. Lets be honest Beilein knows offensive coaching/scheme.

One of the main Michigan Bloggers, biggest Michigan site MGOBlog, said before the season started his fear would be Beilein left the Cavs and went to Indiana. He was adamant that Archie isn’t good enough and would be fired and that Beilein isn’t a fit for the pros. I think he is over confident in IU making a move but maybe the new AD will. Beilein was frustrated with the cheating but loves coaching. If he hired dynamic recruiters to go along with his X’s and O’s, then it could be a solid match for 5 years. Just have to have that long term lined up bc this is a short term move. Even if it’s a guy like Dane Fife coming in as associate head coach/HC in waiting.

I support Archie. I know he isn’t going anywhere soon with that big buyout. So I’d rather look at ways the team can improve and see Archie put it all together. Saying that, the reason I didn’t have Archie in my top 3 candidates when he was hired was his teams would win some very low scoring games. The offense always scared me. But I’m seeing guys miss open shots, so it’s a conundrum. i looked back at recent games and Hunter, Phinisee, and Franklin are shooting very well from deep since Nebraska. Time to let the young kids play and tell the upperclassmen to shape up or ship out.

I think this year is the bottom out year for Archie. I’d expect the guys who aren’t buying in to leave and the current freshmen and sophs to be the guys leading the way. The team is also looking at JUCO players and id assume grad transfers.

2-4 over the next 6. Then we win the last 2 road games, having a 19-12 record going into the BTT. Couple of a changes need to happen. Start Hunter and play Franklin more. Rob needs to be way more aggressive. edit: win last 2 home games. Lol

I was looking at some stats and it appears that both Hunter and Franklin may have turned the corner shooting the 3. Both are not shooting a good % for the season, Hunter at 26.8% and Franklin as 23.1%. However, after a brutal start to the season, Franklin has shot 40% from 3 over the last 5 games (zero attempts vs OSU). The previous 5 games he was at 0%, on the same number of attempts (10). Maybe the game is slowing down for the freshman or he is just feeling more comfortable. Hunter seems to be shaking off the rust. From the Nebraska game forward, 4 games for him, he is shooting 53.8% from 3 on 13 attempts. Rob’s is up over 6% from last year as well, at 37.2%. I just found these stats to be encouraging, as these 3 guys will be huge over the next couple of seasons. If they can keep up the good shooting, then this team can reach a different level. Might be time to start Hunter.

He just needs to be 35%+. He was 50% today. He is progressing and is only a freshman.

Archie will be back. Id expect some roster changes after the season. Year 4 is the hot seat year. -

Al, Green, and Smith are just so limited. -

Happy that he came back and everyone can have closure. Demons gone, curse broken, whatever you want to call it. Now everyone can just move forward together. -
It is a small sample size but Franklin was also a 37% 3pt shooter in high school. His uptick over the last 5 games could be a good sign that he is now shooting at his historical levels.

Why do we wait to get down 12 to call a timeout?
