Maybe. I’m just not banking on it. Now if he keeps 4-5 players on the current roster and adds 4-5 portal guys and maybe 1-2 high school kids the pop up from the coaching carousel. But he will need to hit it out of the park imo. I think that’s hitting it out of the park and he would be successful with that. But if May did that he would also be successful. -

I’m definitely a Pearl fan. However, I’m not sure anyone is winning next year. It’s taken Pearl several years at every stop. To say he has to do it in year 1, would be unreasonable and if that’s the expectations, then we will have fire Pearl posts year 1. if Woodson is gone, then everyone needs to give that person 3 years to build. Not say for it to take 3 years to make the dance. I’m saying 3 years is enough time to show that we aren’t going to be Portal reliant, high school recruiting has picked up, and there is a clear vision and style of play that is modern -

How did that occur that’s still being felt? It was clearly time to move on from him. What’s being felt is hiring the wrong coach to replace him. College basketball is all about having an elite coach. It’s different than the NBA where it’s about elite players. -

lol. Not going to turn this into a political thread but to answer your question…. If enough ppl are in his ear about this topic then I think he would. He is a massive basketball fan in general and wants to see all the state schools do well athletically. -

So Buckner is appointed to his role on the BoT by the Governor. Then he can be removed by the Governor. If ppl feel inclined, call their state reps and start applying pressure to have QB recuse himself from any discussions that pertain to Mike Woodson. -

I enjoy hearing it. But I expect him back but hope they can get Pearl or Oats and move on this offseason. -

I’ll probably do what I did this year. Keep tabs on scores. Watch a big game and then check scores until football season is over. Then watch if I have nothing else planned. -

Can have a deal in principle. But you don’t think Dolson and May have talked? They have known each other for years. May knows what’s happening at IU. And he can walk away from OSU for IU before he signs the actual contract. Which he won’t do until after FAU’s season is over. -

May isn’t going to go to OSU before IU makes a move, so it’s not a big deal that rumor about there. FAU is going to be a tournament team and Kay isn’t going to sign any deal prior to his season finishing. I think Dolson, if he makes a move, will do it the week after the season is over and before Auburn or FAU get eliminated. So if Pearl doesn’t work out Dolson should have time to scoop May away from OSU. -

Not necessarily. He is an IU alumn and that draw will always be there. Also, if he leaves FAU, he isn’t landing at a blue blood. It will be a middle of the pack type power 5 job. Those jobs are ones you leave to go to IU. There is really never a scenario where you dip down to the mid major level to hire a men’s basketball coach at IU, imo. That 5-7 years gives Dusty or anyone else a chance to improve a power 5 program and show they can recruit at a power 5 level as well. -

I appreciate Woodson doing his best to make Dolsons ability to replace him easier. Keep up the good work Coach. -

Jerod is definitely a safe space, words hurt so bad type. On their show I agree with his calmer approach, but with Ryan’s opinions. Tonsoni is a good listen as well. -

By why? Why would someone who doesn’t like the taste waste time to acquire the taste? I appreciates others affinity to bourbon, it I’ll still with vodka and rum based cocktails for my beverages. -

Well it’s not lazy. He is out playing golf. It’s his priorities. See he isn’t lazy, he is doing things. IU basketball success is just low on his priority list. Lol -

I agree with you Maryland sucks. They are also a 8.5 point favorite to beat IU today. That’s what Vegas thinks of how good IU is. Yikes. -

Great post. Though I think Oearl can make a final four and possibly a national title in 6 years or less. So even if he is a bridge he would have the program ripe for another great coach to take over after he is done. There is no reason to take chances on modmajor coaches who may or may not work out. Say we have Pearl for 6 years and have a final four and the foundation is set. Then you go get Nate Oats who will still be in his 50’s for a decade. If a Brad Stevens type presents himself then great go get him. But even Stevens was proven by national title games/final fours etc. -

I think the tearing him down is different to different ppl. I don’t find the hump jokes, cigars, and golf comments to be tearing him down. Saying there is an issue with being a tool by telling him to retire in front of his wife is a bit much to me and I wouldn’t do it. But I think people are taking out their frustrations on Woodson when the issue is with administration for putting someone not qualified into the role to begin with. I agree it gets dicey in the middle ground of how the season will end. But when I see 1 high school recruit coming in. And he is a 1-2 year player. We will have a gap in our classes and need to fill in the portal for some upperclassmen in a couple years. The roster building is terrible. The recruiting philosophy isn’t one to be successful. And since he was a bridge to begin with. The goal can’t be to be better than Archie Miller. the goal needs to be consistently good. Consistently a top conference team. Consistently building a team that plays a modern style. Building and designing a program using analytics. There is nothing sustainable that Woodson has built that you can hang your hat on that shows the program is moving forward to be a contender. Time for a change imo. -

Let the moderators moderate. If you don’t like what ppl say then don’t come to this thread. What people have to say doesn’t bother me in the slightest. If you’re going to take offense to hump jokes, cigars, or memes then maybe message boards aren’t the place for you. There are plenty of things I’ve seen posted on message boards and social media I don’t agree with. I just don’t go back to those threads or argue to change someone’s mind on their jokes or comments that some find offensive. Goodness go to a political message board and you might have an aneurysm telling ppl to be respectful. Lol So let’s get back on topic. Say you’re the AD, what would you do if the decision was yours and the season is now over? -

A guy who is a NBA lifer. Again it’s a different game. And you named 1 guy who the game may or may not have passed by…..1. Where are the Hoosiers doing great as college coaches? Honestly Alford has been the most successful and he hasn’t sniffed the job and was passed over for a guy who never coached a day in his life at the college level. edit…. Isn’t Glen Grundwald the same guy who hired Woodson to be the Knicks head coach? He never won a championship as an nba exec. So just having a title doesn’t make one successful. And I know you work with successful ppl daily. So you should know a title doesn’t mean success. -

Playing and coaching are 2 different animals. And Buckner has never been a successful coach and never played in an era where the game is dominated by analytics and the 3 pt shot. And yet we rely on him and other older players who support Woodson for sage advice? The game has passed that generation of Hoosiers by.
