(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo
raorIU replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
No link available, I'm too lazy to research at the moment, but I believe the issue centers around credit for online-only courses. Oregon seems to be more strict on this aspect and they view Ray does not qualify for admission. -

Who is BasketBall4iU? -
So I've read a number of posts stating something similar to: "it's time for Crean to get this team under control". Well, let's hear it. What exactly is he supposed to do with this situation? It's the off season and the two latest arrests are integral to the team (do we even have another PG beyond these two?). Do they miss two games like Hanner? Plenty have said that short suspension was too short and contributed to the mess further. Do they get suspended for the non-con next year? That costs us the Big/ACC game, UL, and SMU - probably anyway. So, what is the game plan here? How does Crean fix it?

With Blackmon Sr. in the room would recruiting against UK be a problem? E.g.: Roshown MacCleod ... And consider this a second on the Blackmon Sr. isn't the greatest coach motion. I'm only going off of watching two games, and I don't know exactly know the most about "good" coaching - but it was painfully obvious. This includes the game where Blackmon Jr. blew out his knee and the Bracey Wright-esque "gameplan" of get it to Junior went out the window. That being said, we aren't really needing to fill an X's and O's void from KJ leaving. I think we could do much worse on a recruiting in Indiana front. The talent in the state seems to be resurgent 2016 forward, moment there would be a good thing.

Parallels to Crean? SB Nation expose on SEC football bag men
raorIU posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Check out this article on how cash to players/recruits works, at least in the SEC. The sections about what makes a coach a "great recruiter" and how that can quickly disappear rang especially true with how things have gone for Crean lately. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/4/10/5594348/college-football-bag-man-interview -
Parallels to Crean? SB Nation expose on SEC football bag men
raorIU replied to raorIU's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yup, that's the one. Am I wrong in thinking there has been a total reversal around Crean's appearance as an ace recruiter? This coincides with increased noise about booster displeasure with the program's direction. Obviously this is all conjecture, but interesting. -
Parallels to Crean? SB Nation expose on SEC football bag men

It has? Outside this forum I'm guessing? Thought it might spark some conversation around why Crean is continually missing out since beginning of the season. -

Hollowell & Etherington transferring..
raorIU replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not really, goes much further back than Dakich - he's just one of the more visible people using the phrase. Idea is that the basketball shows the "truth" of things on the court. For example, ref makes a bad call giving a player 1 and 1. Player misses the front-end. By saying "ball don't lie" you really mean "that call was terrible, incorrect, and unfair; missing the front end is fate making up for the bad call".
